Considering that Glock's MOS system has been widely criticized for having crappy plates, and the rxm direct mounts the optic, I'd say Advantage Ruger on that
Ruger like most other companies are marketing. This Ruger copy may not even be around in a few years or like Sig, will change it, making your new gun obsolete. I know the Glock will still be around - Glock, HK and FN make guns for serious people, Ruger doesn’t.
@DavidV4444 You may be right and you may be wrong. However, I know things change including companies. Look at STI and now called Staccato. They were garbage but changed things. Unless you are just hoping for Ruger to fail.
Got mine for 385 otd on New Year’s Eve and it’s been great. Nice grip, very accurate, easy to use, great price, Glock 19 accessories. Made the mistake by taking my wife to shoot it, now she wants her own 😅
I have 700 rounds through mine. 300 factory 124g FMJ, 350 124g reloads, and 50 V-Crown 124g JHP. The trigger has only gotten better. $370 out the door.
Well done review. Straight and to the point. I found the "wall" becomes more defined as you shoot the RXM. From the factory, there is a glob of grease between the trigger bar and the connector. There is another between the trigger bar and the frame of the chassis at the rear where the trigger bar is "squeezed" between the connector and the chassis. As you put rounds through it, the glob is thinned out and the "wall" becomes more distinct. My G47 came from the factory with the same blob of grease between the connector and trigger bar and similarly the "wall" became more defined as more rounds were put through it. I eventually put an Apex Enhanced trigger kit in my RXM. Honestly, the difference between the Apex and stock trigger was not huge except the Apex dropped the pull weight by a bit less than 1lb. You can lighten the stock trigger by buying an aftermarket connector like the Ghost Edge. If you want it a bit lighter still, you can swap the striker spring from the stock 5.5lb to 4.5lb. With about 550 rounds through mine, it has been solidly reliable with and without the trigger mods I've done. As you point out, it's also hard to argue with the RXM price compared to a G19 MOS. I couldn't be happier with my RXM
@@glutimous how did you put an Apex trigger kit on this RXM? Replacing the trigger on this isn't like replacing it on a Gen 3 Glock. I've heard many people say they've tried modifying triggers to try and get it to fit, but to no avail.
@@HVACR_ToolNut The Apex Enhanced trigger drops right in just like putting one in a Glock, without modifying anything. Obviously, you have to take the chassis apart but this is a simple no-tools-required process once you pull the chassis from the grip module. The Apex trigger bar, connector and safety plunger are identical in dimensions to the factory Glock parts. As are the RXM's. Aftermarket triggers that come with a replacement trigger block, like the Glock Performance and Timney Alpha Competition triggers, will not fit because the RXM trigger block dimensions are different.
@glutimous makes sense. One was trying to modify a timney alpha competition trigger, and a few were trying to do the performance triggers. I've installed the Apex trigger shoes and springs on my hellcat pro comp, but I thought that it may have also been next to impossible on the fci for the RXM. Good to know. I haven't purchased a RXM yet, still on the fence about it. I just heard people having issues trying to install aftermarket triggers for the RXM. I thought they would have something to replace that trigger with, but I just didn't know because of the fci.
@@HVACR_ToolNut After putting the Apex in my RXM, I'm not sure I'd do it again. The stock RXM trigger is darn good, just heavier than I would like. Mine measured ~5.5lb out of the box. After 350 rounds fired it measured about 5lb. The Apex upgrade brought that to 4lb and swapping the striker spring to 4.5lb dropped trigger weight to between 3 and 3.5lb, right where I wanted it for shooting matches. Besides an ~1lb reduction in trigger weight, the biggest advantage of the Apex Enhanced trigger is the flat trigger shoe, which the RXM comes stock with. Reducing the pull weight largely comes from the connector in the Apex kit. You could install a reduced connector in the stock RXM along with a 4.5lb striker spring and should be able to get in that 3 to 3.5lb trigger weight range for a lot less money.
@glutimous lol that's how I felt when I was installing it on my hellcat pro comp. It took me about 45min to an hour just to get it in properly. If I do get the RXM I may just keep it stock for a while as a defensive pistol. Good to hear though, appreciate the insight.

I read all these comments about Ruger FTF issues I had the same issues with my Glock. Gun companies have issues eith guns from time to time. Even Glock
Picked one up about a month ago. Love it. Absolutely reliable shoots anything I put through it accepts all Glock magazines. It's what Glock should have been about 15 years ago but they chose not to because they have too many large contracts LE and Military. I hope Ruger & Magpul stick with it and pump out different calibers and frame sizes.
Glock mags going back to the beginning of time will function correctly in all Glock generations, along with my RXM. I've run Gen5 mags in a Gen2 Glock and visa-versa. You may have a problem with older mags locking up correctly in newer Glocks that support ambidextrous mag releases if you switch the release from right to left handed. I'm right handed so I've never had to try it.
Just got mine over here in montana for 409.99 absolutely wonderful however the one thing ruger did not improve of was the trigger the trigger has A TON of slop and even after the reset its not a true reset
There are about 21 improvements implemented on the RxM, so no, they are really not identical (clone) to the original g3 Glock. Many improvements are not obvious, like coming standard with a nautical firing pin. Most of us don’t plan to shoot this underwater, but there it is. If they add a manual safety & ambidextrous, it would have been a competitive candidate with SIG & Glock on the last DoD pistol evaluation for selection. I think this would be a good first firearm for my daughter.
Thanks for the review. In the past I have been burned by buying guns the first year of manufacture. I may buy this gun after it's been out for a year. It seems gun manufactures use the consumer as their QC.
I am left handed and the Ruger RXM does not have a reversable magazine release. I will wait until grips are available with a reversable mag release, If Shadow Systems can do it, Why can't Ruger x Magpul?
You would have to ask the millions that buy Glock. Glock still outsells every gun on the planet for a reason. The reason is simple - consistency. How often does S&W, Sig, Ruger, Staccato, Springfield, change their designs, they change all the time rendering your new gun obsolete. This Ruger may not even be around in a few years, Glock will. Buy the original and stop falling for the Marketing gimmicks. The Navy Seals use the Glock not some goofy Ruger copy lol, 70+% of police…. Just stop.
I don't call it a clone! Because it fixes most of the things that people have to change to make a Glock what it should be out of the box! Grips, triggers, sites, and optic cut without using plates! There's a lot of new people out there. Please keep your hand away from the barrel! A gun is to be treated as if it's loaded at all times!
They never do work the bugs out, buy revolvers from Ruger but not their semi autos. (See: LCP 2 & LCP MAX being less reliable than the 1st Gen LCP which was a copy of a KelTec P32/P-3AT).
@@wizkaqueefa9003 Spot on-Ruger definitely does better with revolvers. When it comes to their semi-autos, it’s like they’re always playing catch-up but never quite fixing the issues. You’d think they’d put more effort into getting things right the first time instead of leaving it to ‘bugs and recalls.’ It’s frustrating to see potential wasted when they could do so much better.
Ruger makes high quality firearms and has great customer service and QC. I bought an early SR9 and LC9s. Still have both and they are very reliable guns. They don't always make the prettiest designs but my SR9 is Glock reliable. Thats been my experience.
While some may disagree, the RXM is yet another attempt to replicate the success of Glock’s iconic Gen3 design, relying on expired patents rather than delivering true innovation. Reliability concerns raised by some users only add to the debate. Critiquing a product isn’t about disliking Ruger or favoring another brand-it’s about holding manufacturers to a higher standard. Building on a classic is understandable but presenting it as something revolutionary when it isn’t is a missed opportunity. Glock’s Gen3 set the benchmark for reliability and simplicity, which is why it remains the gold standard. Instead of defending familiar ideas repackaged, we should encourage brands to push the boundaries of innovation. This isn’t about loyalty; it’s about expecting excellence.
I agree with 90% of what you said & yes, the Gen 3 is considered the "most reliable" Glock or semi auto in general, but I wanted to point out how many owners of several Glocks actually prefer Gen 4 or Gen 5 over Gen 3 (Gen 4's Dual Recoil spring Vs. Gen 3's single spring, Gen 4's replaceable backstraps, Gen 5's Performance trigger). I do agree though that the RXM is definitely copying off the Gen 3 expired patent.
