    DESCRIPTION: Cinnamon can no longer to considered a safe and effective treatment for diabetes. The Antioxidants in a Pinch (nutritionfacts.org/video/antio...) video I'm so proud of can be found here (nutritionfacts.org/video/antio.... The Safer Cinnamon (nutritionfacts.org/video/the-s...) is where I originally brought up the coumarin issue. What about the Oxalates in Cinnamon (nutritionfacts.org/video/oxala... Not a problem, but the oxalates in too much turmeric (nutritionfacts.org/video/oxala...) may be a concern. Superfood Bargains (nutritionfacts.org/video/super...) is where I ranked foods in terms of antioxidants per unit cost.
    I talk more about the potential potency of plants in general in Power Plants (nutritionfacts.org/video/power...) and more about spices in particular in videos such as:
    · Benefits of Fenugreek Seeds (nutritionfacts.org/video/benef...)
    · Saffron for the Treatment of Alzheimer's (nutritionfacts.org/video/saffr...)
    · Saffron for the Treatment of PMS (nutritionfacts.org/video/saffr...)
    · Garden Variety Anti-Inflammation (nutritionfacts.org/video/garde...)
    Amla Versus Diabetes (nutritionfacts.org/video/amla-...) explores the use of Indian gooseberries as a way to help control blood sugar, though the best way to deal with diabetes is to prevent (nutritionfacts.org/video/how-t...) and treat (nutritionfacts.org/video/how-t...) it with a healthy diet. Books I would recommend (in order of publication) are Defeating Diabetes (www.worldcat.org/oclc/780000249), Dr. Neal Barnard's Program for Reversing Diabetes (www.worldcat.org/oclc/74649104), and The End of Diabetes (www.worldcat.org/oclc/795757572).
    As you're making your Healthy Pumpkin Pie (nutritionfacts.org/video/healt..., don't accidentally add too much nutmeg, the subject of my next video, Don't Eat Too Much Nutmeg (nutritionfacts.org/video/dont-....
    Have a question for Dr. Greger about this video? Leave it in the comment section at nutritionfacts.org/video/updat... and he'll try to answer it!

    Want to note from what I've read from the website Cinnamon Vogue regarding coumarin content of different types of cinnamon.
    Type of Cinnamon and Coumarin content:
    Ceylon/True = 0.017 g/kg coumarin
    Cassia/Chinese = 0.31 g/kg coumarin
    Indonesian/Korintje = 2.15 g/kg coumarin
    Vietnamese/Saigon = 6.97 g/kg coumarin
    So, Cassia cinnamon has just over 18x the amount of coumarin as Ceylon cinnamon. Indonesian cinnamon has just over 126x the amount as Ceylon cinnamon. And Vietnamese/Saigon cinnamon (the only kind I've seen sold at Costco) has 410x the amount of coumarin as Ceylon cinnamon.

    Do you buy certified organic Ceylon cinnamon? Frontier brand sells it at WF, like $6 or $7 for 1.76 ounces...quite expensive so I looked on Amazon.com and found one pound of the same cinnamon for $20. Loaded some into my empty Frontier spice container...should I refrigerate the rest of the 1 pound bag or do you think it will be ok in my dark spice cabinet, bag tightly closed? Thanks for any advice!

    ln 2011, British researchers (Ied by Professor Roy Taylor of Newcastle University) announced that diabetes (even advanced type 2 diabetes) can be reversed through diet changes. SpecificaIIy, they discovered that Type 2 diabetes can be COMPLETELY REVERSED by diet alone. As a matter of fact... after 1 week, blood sugar normalized. By 4 weeks, normal insulin production returned. After that, participants ate normally.

    My eye sight problems began in August of 2015 when I noticed a small swirl of liquid was preventing my right eye sight from seeing things. By September 2015, the swirl continued to grow and decreased my vision gradually.
    This problem increased by October 2015 when the same thing was occurring in my left eye as well. Literally scared the crap out of me. This only happens when you don't take control of your sugar levels.
    I did some research and found out that the combination of Cinnamon & Honey is a decent solution to my problem. It could help you as well and I hope it works for you as it did for me.
    I said my prayers everyday that my eye sight would be restored as I consumed 1 teaspoon of honey and sprinkled cinnamon into my coffee and these two proved to be natural sweeteners as well, then added 2% milk. Didn't need any sugar in my coffee because the combination of these two natural food elements gave the coffee a natural sweet flavor.
    Honey and cinnamon have been used to resolve many diabetic issues. Long story short, these two combined together in coffee have saved my eye sight. I'm extremely grateful and acknowledge those who have posted the data on-line.

    Do you want to reduce fat in your diet, or reduce the types of fats in your diet? Because I can eat a typical American fat-free diet and still gain tons of weight. I did it. By adding fats, good fats, my weight dropped. Also, refined and packaged foods are horrible and may be low fat.

  • @KotrynaCikan

    sometimes I think that we are sooo narrow-minded that we cannot see the most obvious things. Treating diabetes is not equal to keeping your blood sugar "normal" - if you are eating SAD, it actually can mean that your cells (including brain) are starving for glucose! The goal here should be to stop those spikes and lows from happening - by reducing fat in bloodstream, which is made by reducing fat in diet.

      Good question, I don’t know the answer but it’s doubtful. The leaves won’t contain the same phytonutrients as the bark, I suspect. Natural leaf teas are likely to be healthy, if it tastes good I’d keep drinking it and enjoy.

    • @duschinger
      @duschinger 5 років тому

      Well, since it is suggested that only cassia cinnamon has an antidiabetic effect it's unlikely, it would only 'dilute' the effect of cassia if mixed with ceylon. It wasn't tested though, it might be beneficial. But there is no hint in these studies for that hypothesis, so, again, it's unlikely.

    A compromise; use 1 tsp Chinese and 1 tsp Ceylon cinnamon per day. This keeps the toxic coumarin level down, while still helping blunt blood sugar spike. I also find that the intense flavor of cinnamon I like varies GREATLY, depending on when I add it to my oatmeal. I typically add 1 tablespoon to my boiling cooking water (=mild flavor). Sometimes sprinkling in my bowl when serving (=medium flavor). Occasionally storing leftover cooked oatmeal in the fridge overnight (=strong flavor!). Using 1 tbsp of cinnamon on cold oatmeal stored overnight seems to ramp up the intense flavor significantly - sometimes so overwhelmingly strong even I say it is TOO much. Perhaps an oatmeal cold soak overnight cooking method can help reduce the amount of Chinese cinnamon required? Combine with Ceylon cinnamon to get the best of both worlds. Enjoy and Good Luck.

      You can't, if you're buying ground cinnamon. The FDA (ass wipes) don't require the ground cinnamon labels to differentiate one kind from the other. The only way to know is the buy the cinnamon sticks and ground them yourself. There's You Tube videos about what Ceylon cinnamon sticks look like.

    CNo worries. Ceylon cinnamon works wonders! I take it and it it is wonderful! My blood sugar is greatly under control. I feel a significant difference when I take it, as opposed to the days I may be rushing and don't take time to make my Ceylon cinnamon and organic raw honey drink.

      +Don Maley Dr. Richard Schulze talked about it in his books that any form of diabetes can be fully cured with mainly raw food and all vegan. As well as with herbal teas such as cassia cinnamon, fenugreek, bitter melon, Hydrangea petals. Donna Pessin talks about how Sodium Bentonite clay heals the entire system.

    • @astraeanova4280
      @astraeanova4280 7 років тому +1

      There is nothing that will reverse type 1 diabetes because your immune system destroys the insulin producing cells in the pancreas and without insulin your blood sugar will rise to the point it will kill you.
      In addition, I take 3 cinnamon pills a day and it really does help keep your sugars down but insulin injections are still essential.

    • @nickilovesdogs8137
      @nickilovesdogs8137 7 років тому

      Astraea Star It requires not just taking cinnamon pills. You have to go fully raw vegan and drink lots of blended raw fruits and vegetables and drink lots of herbal teas.

      freecuddles100 , there are two kind of cinnamon in the market today. The potent one is cinnamon cassicia, its property like warfarin which cause blood thinning. It can be deadly if you take too much. The other kind cinnamon comes from Ceylon which is different. Not all cinnamon are the same in chemical composition.
