  • Manufactured by Anton Schwarzkopf and BHS, designed by Werner Stengel, and operated by Oscar Bruch, Thriller made its debut on the 17th of May, 1986. Thriller was the last coaster to be manufactured by Schwarzkopf. As the penultimate piece of the German showmen's coaster wars, it took Dreier Looping's two world records as the largest traveling coaster ever made and the most inversions on a traveling coaster at that point in time. Thriller quickly earned a reputation for offering an extremely intense ride experience due in part to its first 2 concentric perfectly circular loops subjecting riders to 6.5gs of force. Due to the rides unusual and oddly primitive design, neck and back injuries were commonly reported among riders early in the ride's life. The ride underwent several modifications to enhance rider safety and comfort such as the reprofiling of the entry and exit of the first 2 loops and retrofitting the ride's original lap bar trains with accordion style shoulder restraints. This recreation in particular aimed to capture Thriller as it was right before it left the fair circuit.

Wow, what a perfect re-creation, especially with the five train operation! Good work

OMG!! A spot on recreation. I’ve ridden this amazing roller coaster at both AstroWorld (Taz’s Tornado), and at Six Flags Discovery Kingdom (Zonga). You even nailed the five train operation. Well done!!

As coaster enthusiasts we could have saved this ride. The Mexican government would have sold it for nothing. The coaster community meets to do more to save rare rollercoasters instead if saying "well its the end of its service life time to pitch it in the trash" that service life stuff is bs. Space mountain has been running all year long since the 70s and it still runs fine.

From what I’ve read, the price to sell it wasn’t the issue. Apparently it was missing important documents that were necessary for it to legally operate. Unfortunately, no one will buy something they can’t operate.

I would love to see this come back as a single rail coaster that has a layout that's similar to this one.

That would be cool. I've always thought RMC raptors could make interesting transportable coasters given their compact design.

@@j-coasters They would have to work on the quick assembly/disassembly part though. Way too many bolts compared to the Schwarzkopf Cone Plugs. But seeing what RMC can do, I would think this is something they could achieve.
However, I don't think there will be a high demand for larger traveling coasters anymore, operating them has just become too expensive. 😢

@@Colaholiker The design as it is now certainly isn't optimal for travel. Capacity would be a struggle as well. And you're right, the age of large traveling coasters seems to be long gone, unfortunately.

@@j-coasters yes i agree.. and this is what made David Vitrano look disrespect and RMC decided that traveller Raptor is not a option anytime soon
