    To paraphrase a saying from the dog training world, "The only thing two welders can agree on is that the third one is doing it wrong."

      That's funny. I know a lot of dog trainers and I came up with one too. "If you have a question- ask a dog trainer because they know everything".

    Welding physics, time is heat, junk, clean, gas, frequency, arc focus, etc. Between you and Mr. Collier, I've managed to fix cast iron gears in a vintage planer, a vise, restore a classic car, repair parts for profit. Nothing to complain about here.

    Little over 20 years??? Newbie! LOL. Seriously, been welding TIG, stick, and oxy-acetylene for a little over 50 years, taught welding on aircraft for 5/6 years and yes, like you Justin, I always learn something new, yes have picked up great info on both your channels. Keep up the good work 👍👍. Am one of the few…..enjoy welding and fabrication. And as someone else mentioned…..pink is just a color, nothing more, nothing less. Ramble on………good info can come out of rambling.

    Watching these videos has given me the confidence to start learning on my own. I am second year apprentice Millwright but most of the journeymen at work don't have much Tig experience. I work in pharma and everything has to be sanitary welded and certified. Having these resources is amazing, I can immediately see my mistakes and how to avoid them. I recently went through a tank of argon on my own. A real man takes the ribbing for co-workers about pink gloves and keeps wearing them because they fit good are comfortable and get the job done. And also a little because it pisses them off.

    Pink is very efficient in protecting against UV and infra-red radiation. The british SAS painted their land rovers in Pink for better carmoflage in the desert (read: to better reflect the intense sun).
    I own welding gloves in several colours, I found that black/dark coloured gloves heat up quite rapidly whereas bright reds or white remains cool for longer (read: reflect instead of absorb radiation)

I really appreciate all the valuable information that you give us through all your videos. 😊 At my age of 48, I just started to learn welding, no more than 8 hours combined of practice, 2 years since I bought my Chinese Stahlwerk welding machine. (lazy guy here). Except work, I think we have music in common. Metallica band and Toby Keith I really like to listen. In the next video you can mention how many times you slapped your hands against that sacrificial plate? 😊 Please don't get me wrong (for joking), I am not the only one person, real person from Eastern Europe who loves you.

    I suppose keeping it covered with argon while you brush an aluminum coupon would prevent an oxide layer from forming. Doing it in space would also work. Both are impractical and expensive. (btw. thanks for the q&a.. happy to hear TFS will be doing (more) fabrication stuff)

    Nice story on the pink gloves... I drive a Raspberry Beretta for nearly the same reason. Someone found me a local rust free car that was probably not what I wanted, aka Raspberry otherwise seen as Pink. I opted to just rock it and have it re-sprayed the same color when building it up. I'm now ripping 11's in the 1/4 with a FWD V6 Pink Beretta. Only one to do Drag Week, 3 times, to this day. ;)

    Your voice does have a good tone, and you also speak with an accent similar to the formerly popular transatlantic accent used in a lot of media. People have told me the same and commented on my voice, but it's just how I talk. Especially when I'm on camera or teaching something. Wonder if it has to do with schooling or where parents are from or media consumed or what. Love the pink gloves rationale as well. I don't have time for needless negativity in my comments.

    Ah Ha - You answered my Question on the wire brush of Aluminium. thanks.
    for bonding aluminium thin panels there is a glue bond method used in the car making industry and this works equally as good as riveting or tig welding without surface distortion. Honda used it on the NSX sports car. The Aerospace industry use it also in plane manufacture.

    8:23 thoughts on grinding down welds (say when c notching on a chassis)?

    • @jasonsweeten2851
      @jasonsweeten2851 7 місяців тому +1

      Depends on the reason you are grinding the welds if the welds are ugly there's a good chance they are not strong and need to be cut out and redone. your frame rail is a pretty important piece it should have quality welds on it. If you are grinding simply for Aesthetics and you have good welds on your c-notch you lay a cap weld over top of them so that when you grind you're only shaping the cap weld you're not grinding away your base material or structural weld
