Great how she slows songs down so you can hear and understand the message. No only a perfect vocalist but the greatest story teller. No props needed. Her voice and a guitar is more than enough.
Roberta Flack first made this song popular in the early 1970s. Angelina, at 11, gives the song as much feeling and emotion as the much older Roberta did. And, she's reading the lyrics off her phone!
Just another casual, throwaway moment with Egil. As usual, she prompts herself with the lyrics from an iPad. No doubt this was the first time she had sung the song, too. "The first time ever I sang this song, I felt the Earth move ... " I'm enjoying these 3-in-1 reactions. Can't wait to hear more.
I have never heard this song before, but what an outstanding song it is. And the way Angelina and Egil did perform it is impressive: it is very, very, difficult to sing that slow and stay in tune at the same time.
These 'spur of the moment' impromptu sessions may be considered 'raw', but i find them so amazingly satisfying and could listen to them all day long. Roberta Flack's version is considered by most to be 'The Gold Standard', and deservedly so, but Angelina's vocals just pierce my inner core in a deeper way and has to be considered on par with Roberta.
There appears to be no other recording of Angelina singing this song, but aren't we so, so lucky to have this one?! Beautiful, captivating, incredible!
All these younger years recordings with her two guitarists I don't believe were meant to be finished products but rather exercises in musical voice expression for Angelina to look back on and learn from in a different perspective. In her younger years you see and hear her trying new expressions and varying them ever so slightly every time it recurs a song she is singing. She seems to be searching for the perfect expression on any particular expression she is experimenting with so that it lets the melody and lyrics speak for themselves. I believe Angelina is so good at singing that usually people don't see that she is experimenting, practicing and honing her gift.
She really packed the emotion in this one which is one of my top favorites. I'm glad her Mom, Sara, didn't make her change the lyrics to G-rating on this one, but as a result she looks a little embarrassed at the end.
Another great reaction Alex. I have a suggestion for you. Your journey can be more interesting if you experience Angelina performing live in her concerts that i think are Epic . At any Age ,from 9 to 13, She Is absolutely stunning. May be you can check Sandfjord (Age 11) with 16 songs or Oslo with the Brass Band of Norway Army with an Epic "it's a man's world"......Just enjoy😊
Recorded at Egil's studio, with her grandma filming it. Angelina was not familiar with the song so she is reading the lyrics from her phone. I can imagine that she didn't anticipate the increasingly adult theme of the song, probably the expression on her grandma's face would have given rise to the shy moment at the end! But what an expressive rendition this was - there are many more incredible performances with Egil for you to discover!
"The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face" is an folk song by Peggy Seeger, composed and written by Ewan MacColl in 1957. In 1969, Roberta Flack recorded a version that was included in Clint Eastwood's film "Play Misty for Me" (1971). From then on, "The First Time Ever I Saw Your Face", broadcast on radio in a shorter version, reached #1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and Billboard's Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks, and #14 on the UK Singles Chart. Now a Flack standard, it won the Grammy Award for Song of the Year in 1973. (Wikipedia).
Angelina, as best we know, has always chosen the songs she sings. There can be no doubt she is drawn to songs with tremendous emotion. Angelina is a rare child who can understand mature human emotion and convey those emotions in her singing. There are many who will hold on to their opinion that a child can't evoke such emotion because they haven't lived through mature relationships and situations yet. They are welcome to their opinion, while I am always open to rare exceptions. Another example is Alma Deutscher, a child classic music composer whose original compositions are filled with emotion. Alma completed her first full opera by age 10 and is currently 18.
Certain songs I just have to close my eyes and listen to the beautiful voice because the lyrics make looking at the age of the child uncomfortable. I am surprised her mum did not catch this one I know she Made Angelina change the lyrics of back to black.. ....
I did this in Norway, when you single you’re northern Norway, but he play for only when she’s in Norway, he’s a Norwegian, guitarist and vocalist and songwriter
Since it's Egil's studio, it's possible he recorded it too. Then the sound would be better, possibly with less reverb. Maybe he even has some (audio) recordings that none of us have heard yet.😍
George is not shy she reserved when you review her talk to her she’s real soft spoken not shy but you saw smoking and reserve. Do you know this I think you watch Bohemian Rhapsody when she’s there she’s really soft spoken very calm she’s not sure she just saw spoken reserve
Alex, what I hear is your mic mix has too much muddy bass, different from your earlier reactions, based on her almost always vibrant voice here. There is a little echo in their room mostly heard from the guitar, but not distracting to me. Been enjoying your Angelina reactions. Thanks.
A reactor said that Gold dust is falling from the sky... Thanks Alex from the UK
This was done in one take. Live. one guitar, one little girl, and a mike. Incredible.
AJ just jammin with Egil. Just basically messing around, and she makes me cry like a baby!
You know how you have been blow away by aj Well it never stop. Everone Of her video you do of aj All the way to were she is today ! Priceless
She is just divine.
Incredible. Thank you!

So beautiful! I sing this one too.
Awesome awesome awesome 😎👍 wild bill
I actually like the echo. It makes it more hauntingly beautiful to me.
Incredible performance by an 11-year-old. Angelina Jordan forever !

All 3 requests are very tasteful interpretations by Angelina. Thank you, great choices!
Some of Angelina’s biggest fans are the musicians who play with her. Thanks for your reaction once again!
Incredible reaction to a performance in an ordinary room, no studio and sounded that good, God Bless!
Great Reaction 👍🙏👣
She don't know the tekst, she is reading at on her tablet and sings it the same time. She realy is unic !🙏
Dude, it's heartwarming to see how she has put a spell on you.

How an 11-year-old girl can feel a song so much, Angelina tells you the song if even the guitar sounds old, wonderful, thanks Alex sdos Argentina 🇦🇷.

You Said it: Outstanding !!!

Pool gave you three good ones! (Not difficult, really, I’d say impossible not to.). The control here, at 11, is unbelievable 🫠

Don't miss "It's a Man's World"! And"Lovin'You", and for a great big surprise..Mt.Everest..

"The shy moment" is because AJ mixed the lyrics. And I believe they just told each other ;" we are going on"
@@liva7362Yes, that is what I've heard. It's easy to mis-interpret that apparently shy moment. I did so myself at first👍

Beautiful
She definitely should record a current version. But I think it’s my favorite. Too many favorites of her songs.
i like shine in your eyes every time she starts singing

Alma is just incredible. I have listened a lot to her works.

Me gusta una q cantó chiquita y otra ya grande en competencia de traje colorido y descalza show must go on
Ni era. Era bohemian raphsody
Please listen to,, my string" By Alisa Supronova. She is amazing and sings in forty languages
She sang it live on stage last summer in one of her concerts. Maybe both of them, I don’t remember.
I think you are thinking of the song: "Killing Me Softly" by Lori Lieberman. Roberta Flack and the Fuggees won grammies for their covers of this song.
@@robertpalmer9831 Oh, I think you’re right! I was thinking “Robert Flack”!
👍👍🤩🤩👍👍
Matt Cardle did a great version of this too.
Roberta Flack
Peggy Seger was the first one the release this she didn’t folk singer tradition
The is a Roberta Flack song
George is not shy she reserved when you review her talk to her she’s real soft spoken not shy but you saw smoking and reserve. Do you know this I think you watch Bohemian Rhapsody when she’s there she’s really soft spoken very calm she’s not sure she just saw spoken reserve

I’d say there was too much noise cancellation/gating on your settings and/or a fault with the mic. Lack of top.
Roberta flack sung this.
Roberta Flack was the original singer.
