Let us not minimize the fact that her musical mentor was the most improvisational jazz singer of all time, that being Billie Holiday. There would be no Angelina Jordan today, if not for Billie and those are her words not mine. Absorb that for a moment. She has heard all the great singers of all time but only Billie is placed by her 'alone' at the top of the musical pedestal. Whether it's phrasing, nuance, breathy releases, or any other area of Billie's arsenal concerning how she would sing, Angelina has compartmentalized all of it and 'in effect' Billie is reborn in this girl. She did a lot of garages singing Acapella on TikTok with the reverbe sound of the room and it always sounds great 👍 you can see how she tries to find a new way of singing. I was surprised to hear you say you didn’t like breathiness since that is one of her “tools” she often uses. It’s very effective to evoke emotion, and she’s so good at it because it requires additional breath of which she apparently has an unending supply. If you want to hear some soul, try Angelina singing, it's a Man's World, Feeling good (indoor), Lovin' You, Cry Me a River, At Last, I put a spell on you (age 9 black and white video). She is quite versatile and sings every genre except opera. But her roots are in the classics and jazz.

"Big brother defense", omg, you ALL act in defense of this girl whether she sings good or bad. I've got the pitchfork holes to prove it. She's no Whitney, but she does sing this lovely. At this age and for a few years, she was really really good, but the obsession and comments, still, are like I'm in the Twilight Zone!!! It's funny, actually or bazaar, depending upon how much coffee I've had! Classic Angelina. Minimal, but classy, music behind her. It seems like we hear in this version what Angelina is feeling right at the moment she’s recording. Next time would be different. She does not compete with the original, but shows us a new way to hear and love the song. As usual, her voice is completely exposed-and it’s so beautiful.
A truly beautiful song written by Dolly just before breaking up with manager/ love. I believe that Dolly wanted more control over her schedule and song choices and the friction between them got to be to much to handle. The lyrics are pure perfection creating a classic, even one can make a career. Dolly is an icon. Then Whitney of course. Angelina about to follow in the footsteps of these premier artists/singers. This was live and likely done in one take by a middle school pre-teen Norwegian. 😊😊😊❤

It’s really is amazing how she can read the lyrics off a phone, tablet or sheet of paper (often had written by her) and still produce something this beautiful in one take, in a casual setting.
First, and foremost; Angelina Jordan at 12 is the epitome of a Storytelling ARTIST, and she has the ability to take us by the hand and lead us down an imaginary path that we visualize as reality. The remarkable fact is that we experience this in each of her performances, she is indeed a gift to the world.

The sound guys in the Studios say there are less than 4 people that can come in the studio and its going to be one take, 2 occasionally. Angelina is one, Beyonce was mentioned also in this category. I have listened to singers for many years. It is not just techniques. A singer to be great has to have soul when they sing to really excel

I have enjoyed all of your Angelina reactions. I like how you pause and discuss some of the things going on. A couple of videos ago you made a comment about starting a podcast to break songs down and discuss it. Excellent idea. I would watch. There are so many things that I would like know. If you listen to, I suppose all songs, but I'm talking Angelina here. There are different things going on that I missed the first tines I listened. Just wanted to throw that out there.
