Good on Skip for taking her back up! I took a neighbor's 88 year old (non pilot) mother up in the backseat of my RANS LSA on her birthday a month ago, I think she only weighed about 100 pounds. Before takeoff, I carefully explained to her it was a kit plane, non-certified, blah blah blah, and she interuppted to say "we going to talk or go flying?!" This was a well done video ancd she sure looked good for 105, we should all be so lucky.
If I wasn't persuing film/tv (producing a series), it was piloting. However... Even if I did persue it, I wouldn't know how to afford it! 😂 I still have ambitions to be a pilot. I have always loved planes growing up.

One small correction: Once you gain your Pilot's certificate, you never lose it. You will always be a "Pilot". Even if you don't fly anymore, or have lost your medical, or for whatever reason, you will still have that Pilot's "License". (The exception, of course, is if it has been revoked or surrendered to the FAA) I lost my medical a few years ago (cancer) but I still have my certificate. Elain was a pilot to the end.

Curious to know what decade of life you're in? It's pretty obvious there wouldn't have been childcare; her husband might not have allowed it (yes they had that kind of power back then); even her own loved ones might have pressured her; and her employer could have even let her go due to the be "bad press" she'd bring. People today can't even TOUCH the same inequities of just 70yrs ago, tho they complain as if it's worse. It's 1000x better today.
It's one thing to obtain a Commercial Pilot's license. It's another thing to get paid to fly. Flying is so much fun until you find out how hard it is to turn that fun into cash. 🤑🤗🤔🤨🥺😩🤬
