Done, This vid was so good for me. You have a great teaching manner and I imagine this will bring on a lot of new aviators. I'm 55 and only flown once, about 20yrs ago in a low wing twin engine aircraft (crazy story). Wish that i'd took lessons after that, if I ever did go for lessons i would hope that my instructor was as plesant and calm as you. Mark. England.
I am an instructor myself and it is refreshing to see you be so patient with BOTH of them. You let her fly so much by herself and it indicates you took the time to explain terms/items before the flight. Teach why not just what, it was enjoyable to watch!
@@fabricemulayome too! I have my intro flight in the morning and I’m so excited I can’t sleep. Not sure how I’d pay for flight school but it’s the dream

I would want you as a flight instructor. I've seen a lot of flight training vids and some of the instructors are so impatient and borderline rude. I wouldn't be able to handle an instructor like that. There are a lot of great instructors also, like yourself, who are down to earth, personable and friendly. Thank you for being one of the great ones.
"No known traffic" (or anything else ATC says which gives you permission to take-off) means it's YOUR responsibility (as the pilot) to make sure the runway, base & final approach, and the sky above the runway are clear of traffic.
Hi there, I’m only a simulator pilot but what I really liked on the lesson is that you made clear that the airplane can fly itself, and how it reacts at low (stall) speed and recovers itself. That makes the student pilot feel safe, giving confidence and trust in the airplane. I can’t imagine a more important lesson at the beginning! 👍
I bet every flight instructor probably does things a little different, but in the end that day when we taxi off to the ramp and he gets out and your on your own, I learned at a busy airport, with airlines coming in and out. Got to learn radio techniques real quick. I couldn't move the airplane much without calling ground or clearance delivery to file a flight plan.
I remember seeing her in a past video when she took a discovery flight. Awesome to see she decided to take the lessons, hope she does well, hopefully we'll see her solo.
I remember my very first flying lesson! Stapleton airport spring of 1966 and 16 years old with my flight instructor in a 1964 C-150 super excited and attentive. Walk-around inspection, introduction to the instrument panel, radio, start procedure, ground control, and a very long taxi out to runway 17. Runup, mag, and mixture check, call the tower, and a step-by-step procedure monitoring engine rpm, airspeed, and then liftoff. Basic flight maneuvers in the practice area, call approach, and land on runway 26R. An hour and ten-minute flight that seemed like thirty seconds Soloed in seven hours, Private License two weeks after my 17th birthday! Thousands of hours ago...
We are all taught to look around and shout "Clear Prop" but what I often see is both "clear prop" and ignition are nearly simultaneous thereby not allowing someone to actually move away.
Very good video. I took 1 flight lesson in a tail dragger at 18 year of age. As I remember, none of the gauges worked, gas gauge was a red rag tied to a wire sticking out of the cowl. To level the flight, you had to level the wings with the horizon. The lesson lasted one hour and I never went back. This is one of my regrets in life. I am now scaring 72 years old. I did get into motorcycles. I have ridden to all lower 48 states on my Harley from Texas. Took 2 trips to get it done.
You are a great instructor. You let her have control of the aircraft most of the time even when she's new. I wish more instructors were like you. Especially when you consider how much it costs to learn to fly...
It’s not just about the cost,it’s the experience which is so important to learn , you don’t just have someone drive a car for you to learn you have to do it yourself same thing other wise crash not knowing how to handle it , no brainer .
Watching you teach is delightful. My very first instructor gave me a sour taste of aviation. Constantly yelling at me in the cockpit with no correction or explanation for what I was doing wrong. It only took a few flights with him for me to call it quits and get another instructor. Now that I am currently studying to become a cfi myself, I want to teach the way you do. Flying is such a beautiful experience and I cant wait to share it with those eager to learn the craft. Subscribed!
I enjoyed how you calmly talked through each move . As a young man years ago I had a few lessons in a V tail Beach in Oceanside Calif. and my instructor while good was not a easy going as you . After watching this I am getting the itch to do this again at 76 years . Thanks .
I like your demeanor when you are instructing your students. You not only show them what to do you explain it. I wish that I would have started lessons many years ago.
I'm starting flying lessons at 62 years of age; had one taster session. This is very informative as to what lies ahead of me. I've also watched a video about talking to air traffic control. It all sounds like gobbeldygook but I'm sure I'll learn gradually. Thank you.
I just wanna say your a great teacher, I have always been interested in flying and just now looking into flight school, this video definitely hooked me and showed me how fun and how a good teacher like yourself can make all the flight talk and terms easy to grasp! Thank you!
Very nice! I'm sending this to my 16 year old granddaughter who will be taking her first flight lesson this week in a Cessna 172 at Laconia, NH. She can't wait!

Update: I’m 14 now. I just took my discovery flight and am stating flight training soon. Super fun, I am now very much considering being a pilot as a career and hobby.
Excellent teacher. I flew with an instructor and a mechanic at a Cessna dealership and flight school. We were on a test flight in a 172. The instructor let the mechanic fly and try to land the aircraft. Now this was back in 1971. Befor any LCD instrument screens, Wi-Fi, or any of that modern day instrumentation. As we approached the runway to land the mechanic hit the tail hook on the pavement 3 times befor the instructor took over. The instructor never gave any info like you did in this video. I did not know landing was that simple and easy. The plane was landing itself.
2.5 hours in to my training, wish I could fly with ya.. I love the temperament .. you’ve broken down the pieces to meaningful digestible chunks. Have you considered training to fly an ultralight? No pilot license required. No medical required per Part 103.
Paraplane or ultralight?
You can still fly
To my knowledge, Ultralight and Light Sport Aircraft do not require a medical to fly
You could get a pc, microsoft flight sim, and a yoke and throttle quadrant and fly without a license
