Longest day I’ve done is 600k and very comfortable. But really do a lot of roads that involve moving around seat. On motorways I’m sure it would seem a bit hard.

What a treat, waking up to a TMF first impression video of a bike I just recently purchased. Absolutely love my 800 XCa. Huge shoutout to the UK Triumph motorcycle company for building such marvelous machines 👍🏼. Have ridden this bike in some beautiful National parks and off road she really shines. Massive thanks Andy for a great review. 👍🏼 👏👏👏 😎 🇺🇸

Nice bike, my mate has just got one and he's very happy with it. I saw he commented below as he lives in Krabi and I pop out to go riding with him in this very region. There are many fantastic trails and I hope you found them and some of the lovely places to stop for refreshment or a cool dip in a mountain stream. Really Paradise, albeit a touch warm like you say if you spend any time in slow traffic or at lights. Keep up the good reviews and await the next installment.

I'm smiling. That's why I always bug you to include in your reviews the amount of heat coming off bikes. I know it's not so much an issue in the UK but it absolutely makes or breaks a bike in these sort of climates. Some bigger bikes are better than others at keeping cool and deflecting engine heat from the rider. Love your channel and it's great to see you moto-vlogging outside of Blighty.

Great review. I've been waiting a while for this one. I bought this exact bike last year (same color and everything). I'm at 9k miles on the odometer. Happy to report no major problems. I do have a few thoughts to add.
The good: It's fantastic to ride, amazing engine, sounds great, surprisingly capable off-road, comfortable ergonomics (I'm 6' 1" / 200 lbs), and has outstanding build quality.
Some drawbacks however: The engine cooks your legs at stoplights, but the heat quickly dissipates when you get moving. Poor fueling at higher altitudes, especially above 10k feet. The seat is a little hard and doesn't breathe very well, but I just use a sheepskin cover for longer trips. Also, the sidestand has a small footprint, and sinks into soft ground.
These are pretty minor complaints for a bike that's already meant to be a compromise of on and off road capabilities. Given the choice, I would definitely buy the 800 again.

    Hi Missenden Flyer,
I love how you’ll take any and every opportunity to give your followers a bike review no matter the place or bike 👍. You’re absolutely correct that this was an exceptional location to video the bike 🌴🌴🌴.
I like the look of the Tiger but the trouble in Australia is that their dealerships are few and far between. Also a little bit overpriced compared to some of the Japanese options.

Great first impressions. Whilst adicted to the power of my 1200cc, I am really impressed with these 800 / 900 machines. Like the nimbleness, less like the tubular framework of this model which lacks that something that our BMWs have in their DNA. The sound of that triple is wonderful. Would not be surprised if the power:weight was not that far short of a GS. Onherbike Kinga's F800 proving these points and suitability as a great all-rounder. methinks. And I thought Thailand was all dirt roads and exotic beaches! Yep, sure beats Blighty in November! Enjoyed the brief ride with you Andy.

Thanks so much for this review. I was stationed up north in Thailand during the war, 1970. A village called Nakhon Phanom. Loved the country then. Certainly looks different now.
I bought my 2018 Tiger XRT 800 after your review of the bike. Best bike I’ve owned in my 25 years of riding. Here in New England, the heated seats and grips, and adjustable on the fly windscreen make all the difference on a cold day. One after market part I put on was a Rox Riser. This has made a big difference, because I am able to adjust the riding position with just an Allen wrench. Fabulous extra.
And for any of your subscribers that are put off by the cost, consider getting a left over. I bought mine this year in April, and since it was the last in the showroom, I got it for $4500 USD off the list price. This was fully loaded with panniers, engine guards, and skid plate. Absolutely fantastic machine for me. I’m 5’10” and ride the seat in the high position. I can flat foot the bike.
I love your work. Thanks for sharing.

I purchased the 2019 800 XRT low. Put 9,000 miles on it first year. Love this bike. Both myself (5'-6") and my daughter (5'-2") can ride the bike comfortable. I can't comment about the stock seat, I purchased the comfort gel seat before leaving the dealership. I've always been comfortable on that seat. Plenty of power (compared to cruisers) and lightweight (compared to my Goldwing). I love the TFT display and being able to change riding modes on the fly.

I agree totally with your assessment of the bike. My bike even the same colour although I have silver panniers. I'm 6'4" so I have a little extension on the windscreen & I also changed the gear lever needed more room, big feet. I ride my bike on unsealed roads so I fitted a 1 tooth smaller front sprocket. I went from 4700 @ 100kph in 6th to 5000, but it makes the slow work on badly potholed roads easier, no need to slip the clutch. The modes, when the going gets tough the modes get going. Loaded up with camping gear on loose gravel in rain mode the TC stops the rear wheel slipping and the intervention is really smooth. Hit offroad mode & spin up the back wheel, but the TC never lets it get out of control. Play around with the modes at that those times & the differences are really clear. Thank you for your thoughts I wouldn't change bikes very happy 😎

Had a Tiger 800 road version for 4 years. Being 6ft 2” and 16 stone.....you’ll find loads of taller riders change the windscreen because of ear piercing turbulence and buffeting and being a heavy person the seat foam compressed to much, I could only manage 30 miles before pain kicked in, fitted a madstad adventure screen and a Sargent Seat, both problems solved with no turbulence and could now spend 200 miles on the bike without needing to stop for a break. Really interesting review. If you like the XR there’s no need to get the XC just for the beak. You can buy a colour coded one as an extra...and it really improves the bike’s appearance. Is a Thai bike same spec as UK?

  • @petewebb6952
    @petewebb6952 4 роки тому

Interesting video thanks. I had a 2016 XRT, which was my first modern Triumph. I’d traded a 2013 R1200RT for it, aiming to lose bike weight and get a Triumph. I was impressed how high the Triumph spec was after BMW. I changed the can and put a “beak” on it. I thought it was a very practical and safe bike. The windshield was always an issue, Tiger owners were always changing them. I just never loved the bike. I didn’t like the sound of the Triple Engine and I didn’t like the looks of the bike. Both subjective factors. That’s when I moved to having Bonnevilles. My partner as a pillion thinks the T120 is far more comfortable. I can see a place for an adventure bike like that if you want to do a lot of off or rough road riding. In fact I ended up recently getting a CB500X for all year riding, but that is a second bike to my T120. The Tiger 800s are practical but not as loveable as some other bikes., in my opinion. If I was in the market for that sort of bike I’d also consider the Yamaha Ténéré.

I have always considered three main adventure bikes as my next bike; the big gsa, which has the most tech, the most weight and the most price (blow my budget), the AT, which seems the best bang for buck, and this, which seems like the best looking bike plus really well speced (although I did note one fail on a round the world type trip recently, replace by an AT) but now I consider the royal enfield Himilayan a contender.

Attn: Missendenfly :) : May I ask what is your TOP 1 or 2 between Triumph Tiger 800 (X?); Tiger 900 (GT/Rally); KTM Adv 790 S/1290 S ; Yamaha Tenere 700 ; Africa Twin (smaller/standard) ; Suzuki V-Strom 1000..? In terms of your riding preferences, comfort, with a pillion occasionally, mostly on streets backcountry routes, and highways. Maybe a day here and there, a little bit of gravel, grass or dirt. But like 10%. Streets here in and around Montreal are full of potholes. Something as close as your love for BMW R1200/1250GS or Triumph Tiger 900 GT Pro / Rally Pro..? I would love to have your input/advice ... 🙏🏼 Watched A LOT of your videos/reviews and I’m getting more confused. :) haha I’m coming from a Triumph Speedmaster 900 2007. P.S.: I only tried and loved BMW R1250GS last year... but it just gets too expensive in the end. I’m 5’8-5’9 ; 180 pounds. Thank you so much in advance! 🙏🏼
