  • 3.2 Tufting- How to tuft at your own speed and have the density that you want? Make sure you press the gun tautly against the backing canvas when you tuft, put the weight on the hand holding the handle, and control direction with the hand on the switch. Take your time to get used to the rhythm of the machine and practice at least on your fist piece. Let us know what else you would like a video of in the comments below!

Thank you for your tutorial. It helps. Can I ask ask you what kind of yarn and primary backing fabric you used and where to get them? Thank you for your help.

Hello, I'm looking to vary the length of loops . Do you know if there is a tutorial that explains how to do this? thx

Hey, I have a loop pile gun and o haven’t adjusted the loop links yet but the should be a screw somewhere on the bottom than you can screw tighter to make them smaller or loosen it to make them longer. You should definitely look up a video on how to do it, and for the record I have a blue handled tufting gun from tuftinggun.com. That’s the only one I know how to adjust on. And just to say it again be sure to look up a video on it before you do anything to make sure

I am wondering if you would use more yarn by going slower as it looks like a tighter weave. . I think I prefer that look as it is more dense and lush.

Just use 2 yarn sametime.. Makes it quicker, thicker and better looking 😎

    Hi
I have a couple of questions:
How durable or solid is the final result? I see that you have to seal the back with some layer of a glue-like material. is this durable? something I can sell, without having it returned to me later or hearing complains in a month or 2? :-)
Another question, regarding the finish and look: I'm not specifically interested in the lush child-like finish. I want to create patterns that feel more ethnic or tribal, oriental, etc. is is possible to get a more flat surface? and are there different types of yarn that could be used so as to pick the effect I desire?
And is it too thick to create a big cushion with the rug (as in kilim cushions)?
    Thank you so much!!

To answer some of your questions you have to glue the back to the treads will come loose and you should add a backing layer to make it more secure it’s not hulk strength but it’s durable enough for an area rug if you do it right so it’s absolutely not your fault if the customer ruins it or doesn’t treat it delicately and for a more detailed design I’d recommend a loop pile gun instead of cut pile the type of thread is not based upon the design but the quality so I’d recommend the higher quality wool thread instead of acrylic
