Just hooked up to your channel loving your work bro I've got a 260z with 3 litre twin turbo keep up the good work and enjoy your car watching u from Melbourne Australia cheers
great update bud, I bet that clutch manufacturer would have a sticker or notice somewhere saying "have installed by professional workshop only" to negate any responsibility when something like this happens. it sux. looking forward to the sideskirt install! Rudi.
Your yoke might rub on your sway bar accelerating/decelerating and coming back down. I had the same problem. Not sure if you're using the top metal mount and eliminating the factory style. I oval out the mounting holes on the mount to chassis was able to slide the front diff upwards more. Still wiggle room to achieve driveline angle with no vibration.
Mine does this when i down shift from a higher speed. I am thinking about adding a spacer where the rear sway bar mounting brackets go. Then making new square brackets.
Not sure if someone asked this but did you put the motor mounts on the correct sides? I bought the same kit for my pickup and the two sides aren't the same size.
Buzz Ingram yep your right. Side specific and I had them on the right sides. I’ve talked to a few others who did the same swap and are having the same problem
@@StewartMotoring thanks for responding, that is good to know for when I do my install. I will be rebuilding my 1JZ soon, then putting it in a 85 Toyota pickup.
Looks good! Nice build 🤘 am a little worried about that drive shaft hitting the lower sway bar?? Anyway, ya when that engine torques you may have an issue. Hope not- but that may be a concern sir.
Never mind. I decided you probably slotted the main plates so the cast piece slides up. After all this work modifying and adjusting the CXracing piece, I wish I’d made my own...or went L28ET
Hey, I did have to drill a new hole in one of the cx mounts. But also my strut brace is higher than usual. Kinda hits my hood I had to raise my hood a bit so that may be why I didn’t have to lower engine a bunch
asasial1977 it can, but since the motor is literally held by 3 mounts and a few bolts, it’s easier to pull out the whole engine/trans. Plus, it’s easier to work on it while out than being under the car.
hows the driveshaft lined up? i mocked my engine with the same kit and thought maybe cxracing had it shifted more the passenger side so the diff and trans can line up. but u have urs running any vibrations?
I know what your talking about, it appears (it is) the diff is offset one side and the driveshaft looks kinda crooked. But Yea I have been driving and haven’t had any vibrations. Been on the highway and it does well. As long as the angles are symmetrical it won’t vibrate.
Not wrapping you over your knuckles, but, rule of thumb, always double check the instructions with other sources. Reason being that out of all of the processes involved with making that part, that leaflet is not the most involved of it all, heck, they might even copy/paste from another manual online from a different company with a similar product, something i have seen before. Never trust the manual until it's confirmed by an outside source(s), this was a lucky simple fix (not in terms of hours spent fixing the problem) but there are other issues that can cause irreparable damage. Just my two cents on this. Anyways, the car looks amazing, excellent work, can't wait to see it move around :)
Shitty about that clutch problem but lucky you found out about before it was too late. It’s looking damn good already, it’s gonna be a great little zapper this one! 😄
@@StewartMotoring thanks man, did it hold up well, I read hit and miss things about their manifolds? Did you have to drill out the mounting holes to line up correctly, or Dremel out a lot of slag?
Was fine until you put the 1jz in the Z. How much hp are you going to get with this motor, you know you could have gotten around 300hp from the original 6 without the turbo, Datsun inline 6, BULLET PROOF. I am old school.
You depend on people to do their job, but this day and age people who put stickers on are making Min wage with probably no skills, you have to factor this in and not let it rob you of the joy of building this car. Remember what they say, you want it done right, do it yourself, which you have taken that saying by the horns. Take your licks and learn from them and just shake your head. Congratulations on a beautiful car.
refund your time? Come on dude. You're making yourself look bad, not them. If you eat at a restaurant and the food makes you trapped on the toilet, do you go back looking for money to reimburse the time spent on the toilet? NO. What do you do? Never go back and warn others not to go there either if they are refusing to acknowledge their mistake. All that company owes you is an apology and they need to step up their quality control.
I put a Na-2J in my 260Z and Turbo'd it. Sometimes these cars are saved from the Junkyard like i did mine. My car was junk when i first found it sitting in someones front yard. The engine was locked up, Trans was sitting in the rear hatch, gear oil leaked all in the hatch. Had trash up to the top of the door panels. I still bought it because i loved old S30's and knew what could be done with it.
@s30shawn The purist will say if you don't keep it stock, you screwed it up. I love the cars stock or modified. I have had my 260Z for 15 years now. Nothing wrong with saving a Japanese classic car.
Well, it’s like putting Chevy engine in a ford. Yes I was a little harsh and for that I’m sorry. To me, a Rebelo L28 would have been a better choice. You could have sent the locked one off to the them and the number would still have matched. That’s the route I’d of went. I’ve had a z for 26 years and when and if my engine lets go, be the route I’ll take
@@arlanreber6717 I would rather keep a Japanese classic car on the road, doesn't matter what is powering it. I don't know what condition Stewart's Z was in when he got it. But like I mentioned mine was junk. Full of trash inside, Interior total loss. All body panels full of body filler except the hatch. Trans was in the hatch leaking gear oil all inside the car. 2.6l engine locked up. Since I was rebuilding the car, I decided to buy a 83 280zx and swap everything over Efi included. Did that, ran it for a couple of years. Then I turbo'd that L28 n/a engine and added a stand alone unit. A few years later I decided it was time for more power and it was cheaper to upgrade to another engine, then try to modify the l28. I did the 2JZ swap for under 2 thousand bucks. All the parts included........... Rebello can't do a turbo engine for me that makes over 500hp, for under 2 grand. The 2J is Japanese, head designed by Honda, it is one of the strongest and most powerful engines. A 2JZ engine can handle 700 hp on stock internals. 💪 Sounds incredible when revving also. 👍👍 Another Japanese classic car still on the road.
What a huge step. Don't worry about the speed bumps along the way. Best get them out of the way now. Don't get frustrated. Baby steps. Looking great.
Great that you are keeping it a 6 cylinder. Sounds so much better and you have the room. Great work.
Yep! Can't wait to hear it fire up with the turbo
you are very patient, mate
I have been following you since the beginning.
Well done!
It would be a great car - one and only!
Hey thanks for watching Bon!
Can’t wait to see her sitting back on the deck once your brake kit and studs arrive 😍 Great job, you must be well pleased 🤪

Looking good Luke. I will be removing my motor now that its test fitted and starting on building a new tube frame in the next week or so.

Thanks for the insight, yea It hopefully it doesn't but if it does I will have to figure out a way to fix it lol.
Very nice man. Thank you for the uploads. Love em♥
Hey mate watching you work on your Datsun have forced me too go buy one. Brisbane Australia.
You have good taste (:

Yeah, I hope so too. We shall see
How did you lower the engine another ~1” or however far it is to get the clearance for the bar?

IM doing a similair swap with the same mount setup can you show me a little more of where shifter comes out and how long is your driveshaft?!
Ashley Jason send me a message on Facebook at @stewartmotoring and I’ll get you a pic of the trans. Driveshaft for me was 29 1/4 in
Nice video man! Where did you have your driveshaft made? And are you on an upgraded differential?
Germ0o has a local company in Missouri make the driveshaft and nope, just the r200 diff
Can’t wait to see the next videos
I know it's a custom install but the transmission cannot be removed without pulling the engine?
asasial1977 it can, but since the motor is literally held by 3 mounts and a few bolts, it’s easier to pull out the whole engine/trans. Plus, it’s easier to work on it while out than being under the car.

Not sure if I missed it somewhere in this video, but what exhaust manifold did you use?
Ryan Jewell cx racing manifold for a 1jz s13 swap

What brand turbo manifold worked if you dont mind sharing
Cx Racing
Make sure you put the mirrors on the front fenders
What kind of cross member did you use? Was it the stock one?
Bryant Porter yep stock
What engine is better for my c33 laurel 1jz gte vvti or 2jz gte vvti
Well, if you can afford a 2j. I would do that lol. Save a little money and go with a 1jz
@@StewartMotoring thanks bro im going 1jz gte vvti

R154

350 and I supplied the yoke

JZ motors are also bulletproof and more than just 300 HP. 1JZ VVTi has 280 HP stock.
280jz would be a nice name but allready seen the short movie so allready know you got a cool name haha
👍🏻 In the home stretch now!

what diff are you running
R200. I need to upgrade the axles.... 😥
@@StewartMotoring what kind of money did your whole engine cost
@@FORGETYOU8 ebay 1jz vvti r154 and youll get an idea.
You have tons of room in that thing. I am barra swapping mine, You want to see a tight fit Lol
I’m sure that’s tight. I saw a UA-cam channel years back who was doing that swap
I real wish you have alot o subscribe 😁
Good luck for you
Thank you!
Why a 1jz and not keep it nissan and use a rb26
Just like the 1jz better for various reasons, but both great engines.
RB26DETT
