The raising children part was a first for me. Especially when they’re both you’re biological children. When you start getting into those things you have to really know the person you had a child with - and you have to know and love them as a person (not just a parent) to be able to work through those sort of disagreements

Most men I know like women with personality. I think it's because they see their woman as their friend first. They want interesting, intelligent and funny women.
It's only since I've become fascinated by the American dating world (Black American) and have been watching Kendra G and KS that I've noticed men obsessed with: Quiet, calm, submissive women and equating all those things with "femininity." It's giving "just be seen and not heard" vibes. And goes hand in hand with the men's mentality of: we don't care about your job, goals or ambitions and equating those things with "masculinity".
Just like when Black women come on here giving dollar amounts of what a man should make as a non negotiable. All of it is so weird and superficial and explains why dating is so hard.
As an outsider looking in the perception is that men and women don't see each as whole human beings. More like appliances to be installed in their life and expected to "run" a certain way.

I know an older couple personally, who divorced for similar reasons. One parent was very loose and the other was not in agreement with the what the kids wanted to do. They argued for years and ultimately it was just too much. The man remarried the woman hasn’t (yet)? They probably had other issues, but that issue with the kids didn’t help. I’d personally never let my kids ruin my marriage.

I can tell you from personal experience as a calm, nonchalant man who was married for 9 years and one of our major issues was differences in parenting. And it wasn't as simple as "she believes in strict discipline and he doesn't". My exwife would spoil her daughter's in their youth, but beat the breaks off them with a belt when she got angry at them, not caring where her belt hit and claiming they should just be able to hold still and not flinch or reel in pain. I usually had to get her to stop. Meanwhile my disciplinary measures involved physical exercise and tasks and seldom corporal punishment. 2 years after we divorced my ex-wife caught A CPS case because she went to her teen daughter school and beat her all over the parking lot and punched her in the head.
