Golf was a lot different in those days. The ball didn’t travel as far and it curved a lot more than it does now. Precision was the name of the game and these two were great precision players. Two of my favourite golfers.
And year later Faldo won the Masters after sudden death and it was miracle at 10th hole when Scott Hoch missed 2footer(maybe less) for the win and Faldo played the whole hole pretty unlucky...then sink 25footer on 11th...
watched it last week, never knew who Scott Hoch was but you feel bad for a guy who is underdog (Nick Faldo is known by everyone in 2023) but I really felt bad for the guy - he missed a tap in for immortality and lost on next hole
Even as a brit, and a patriot, i`m so happy curtis strange got
this win, bless him, and he had to beat one of the best too!
that is the mark of a true champion,
It’s amazing how precision golf has been replaced by bomb it and send it. Faldo only missed four fairways in 72 holes at a US Open course setup, but that’s not what modern fans want to see. They want to see Bryson and Rory crushing the ball into orbit even if it’s in the trees.
Shame that. They don't understand the game is about scoring, e.g. not how but how many.
Well back then Faldo used persimmon drivers and balata balls which demanded sold hits and accuracy. Nowadays, its bomb and gauge since drivers are so forgiving and balls are longer.
Great battle! I remember their singles matchup in the Ryder Cup at Kiawah😮
It was at Oak HIll in 1995 that they played each other for the only time in Ryder Cup singles.
right on right on
That chopper.....
At the 41:33 mark, you will see two guys not wearing their shirts. Was there an oversight here? I thought it was prohibited to go shirtless at a prestigious event like this.
They were ahead of their time.
I know it was a crucial round but please, Faldo is an old woman, a pain in the behind.
