It's been a while now and I just wanted to say thank you for this incredible video that I had not seen . And let me just say you have solved a problem I have been struggling to figure out ....this info made a huge difference ...thank you !°°❤
what i do first is same amount of medium for each paint, then no water added for the one i want to be heaver and i increase the amount of water for the different layers, layer 1 = + 2 gr of water, layer 2 = 4 gr of water etc..
Sometimes. I don’t always do it unless I want to get really specific results. Sometimes I am too impatient and I just want to get to painting so I don’t always do it 😂 But if I don’t get the results I was looking for, then that’s when I regret not doing the test 🤣
A Heavy color will sink, so if you want to see more of that particular color (cells of that color), then add silicone to it to help some of that paint rise to the surface. Light colors have a better chance of staying at the top of the surface so it is not as important to use silicone in those colors.
Couldn’t you figure it out if you use the fact that opaque paint is heavier than transparent and. Semitransparent is more dense than transparent but less dense than opaque?
Thanks first time someone explain it so clear now everything is making sense. So easy if you know how it works

Do you do this test for all your paintings?
Sometimes. I don’t always do it unless I want to get really specific results. Sometimes I am too impatient and I just want to get to painting so I don’t always do it 😂 But if I don’t get the results I was looking for, then that’s when I regret not doing the test 🤣
Thank you.
Your welcome!
Do you test it pure paint or mixed paint? Thanks for your video
I test it after it is mixed with pouring medium.
15/8/2023.Hi,i was interested to kow, should silicone oil be used on heavy colors or on light ones?thank you
A Heavy color will sink, so if you want to see more of that particular color (cells of that color), then add silicone to it to help some of that paint rise to the surface. Well I wouldn't be able to. This gives me some understanding about paints and their properties. Essential for a beginner for any painting.
@@MsHeebiejeebies I agree. This makes more sense to me.
Very helpful, thank you
Your welcome! Glad this tutorial helped
