Old Portable DVD player that plays Video games | Goodwill find

I found this old portable DVD player at my local Goodwill. I picked it up because it came with a game disc and 2 gamepads. This was actually not uncommon a decade ago. They would package these generic games in with Portable DVD players as a way to fluff sales. I never got a chance to play these in the past so i figured why not play some now. Will they be brilliant works of art? Or trash?.... spoiler alert, they're trash

This is sooo nostalgic. I had a normal dvd player as a kid. I remember we always forgot to bring dvd's on roadtrips so we would re-watch Tron Legacy (since we always forgot to take it out) over and over for 5 hours straight. I wish we had one of these that could play cheap games.

Fact: You could add more games via a now-dead website by downloading the games you wanted and putting them on a CD (along with a specific file that made the games work).

Omg I had this exact disc as a kid! I've been trying to find some gameplay of it for the nostalgia, but I haven't been able to find anything until I found this video! Thanks for the nostalgia! Also the games that you couldn't get to work actually were programmed in. I remember playing them, but you may have had a defective copy or something. If I remember right, most of the other games weren't really anything interesting, I think they were just reskins of the games earlier in the list. I vividly remember that the game mission express had 3 reskins (Or they were very similar at least.) The 3 games were basically just you playing as a firefighter, a ambulance driver, or a police officer and you had to make it to the scene on time.

These portable DVDs were something else- I had a different model from Phillips, still got that funny controller! I’ve got to find a replacement to charge it and play those games again. Cool find, and well-made video!

Found this exact Phillips at goodwill for $2.99 sadly the screen was broke…
But wait!!! 6 months earlier I found the salve aka second monitor of the same model/brand I picked up for $1.99
So swapped screens and now main screen works with dvd player and av in. I use it as a screen to hook up vhs player to to test tapes

I had the dvd player version of this which i would play on tv lol
As a child i didn't realise how bad these games were that's why i deliberately search it on youtube and found your video
