    Thank you, I bought FrSky Taranis XD9 plus SE 2019, since 6 months it didnt work, firmware issues, ISRM, openTX, S6R and X8R, finally I got new access R6 and now with your video it works, thank you

      No problem Firoz. I’m glad its working for you now.
      I have the S6R and it works fine with the ACCESS firmware. It may be worth trying that if you’re still having problems with that receiver.

      Sorry, my mistake, I used the latest ACCST v2.1 firmware and it was fine. www.frsky-rc.com/s6r/ If you have problems, it would be worth checking the ISRM firmware version.
      There are some older receivers that can also run ACCESS, like the RXSR and G-RX6 & 8.

      I believe I’m using 2.1.0. It would have been the latest version when I got my transmitter last year.

    Thanks for an instructive video. If You use Frsky external sensors ( such as the LiPo sensor ) I discovered that it is IMPORTANT to unclick the F - port under options during the setup after update. I discovered that it by default was clicked during OTA update. That caused that the LiPo sensor suddenly didn’t work and could not be found.
    I also noticed that it according to Frsky update-homepage is recommended to lower the threshold for RSSI to 32 (critical) and 35 (low signal).
    I carried out several tests according to these recommendations for R8 PRO and R4 using my S10S express transmitter. My conclusion was that I had a notable better range with the “old” X8R ACCST (with RSSI threshold on the former 42 and 45 ).
    I had great expectations with the new Archer ACCES protocol. Also interesting to know what You have experienced concerning range. Maybe You also could give us a logical /technical explanation for lowering the RSSI threshold for ACCESS receivers and still fly safely. Best Regards.

      Hi Kim,
      You’re totally right on the F.Port option. You can either use SBUS with SmartPort or F.Port.
      I’m looking to build a tool to test the range of receivers. So hopefully this is something I can add in the future. I will also look in to the lower RSSI warnings.

    I'm having some carbon issues with a R8pro in a all carbon F5J sailplane. I'm thinking a RS would be a good satellite located further back towards the tail. Can offer an opinion and confirm that the S port would be the hook up to solder to. Thanks for all you do. Steve

    • @MrD
      @MrD  Рік тому

      Yes mate, that receiver would work fine. Just connect the SBUS OUT of the RS to the SBUS IN on the R8 Pro.

    Mr. D, have you ever noticed that the connection of the antennacables to the IPEX4 connectors is "lousy"? I'd love to use a nicer word, but that's what it was on both of my R6 RXs. I had to replace the antennas with new ones from FrSky, not for this particular model, but similar (unfortunately shorter) ones also with IPEX4 connectors. I wonder if I just got 2 RXs from an unfortunate batch?

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 роки тому +1

      I’m really not a fan of IPEX4 connectors. They’re too small. IPEX1 are fine. Were the original antennae damaged?

    • @Abszurdista-fatalista
      @Abszurdista-fatalista 2 роки тому +1

      @@MrD the problem was for every single antenna, that the shielding (tinned copper braid), which is between the the insulator and the jacket had no sufficient contact to the ipex connector and the jacket wasn't crimped sufficiently or wasn't crimped at all. The word 'lousy' comes to my mind. I still like FrSky and it's my gear of choice but it's kind of uncool to buy extra antennas to get something orderly that should be orderly right off the shelf.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  2 роки тому

      I agree. I hope it was a bad batch. But even more I hope IPEX4 is no longer used on RC products.

      @@MrD I hope so too and I also agree, but with this general tendency everything becoming smaller and smaller we might even get something even smaller.

    Mr D,
    Great video.
    I do have a question about how to setup an analog battery sensor telemetry on this receiver.
    Also, the model has 2 NiMH eneloop batteries installed and I'd like to monitor both if that's possible?
    Cheers

      Many thanks for your reply. Have actually got a little bit further in the logic and ascertained that this works very well for a single battery but would never work for more than that!
      Again, great video and your others too!

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 роки тому +1

      If they’re on the same circuit, they’d drain in parallel too. Plus, there’s only the 1 analogue sensor port. But if one is directly connected to the receiver, the other could potentially be connected via A2. It would just be working out a way to keep the circuits separate. I’m not that up on physical electronics.

    Hi , great vid thanks, can’t get my new Archer GR8 to Register wth my Horus X10
    just doesn’t populate when I connect
    Power ( FS button pressed on Rx of course and ‘ Register’ pressed first on Tx ) . Not sure
    if my software version on Tx needs to be updated or what . Thought it was going to be
    a simple process, anyway any thoughts to resolve problem?
    Thanks

      I’ve not has the pleasure to try that receiver yet. But the binding should be no different to the R6. It would be worth checking the ISRM (Tx) firmware and making sure that’s on the latest.

    How does this RX get power when connected to the plane ?

      Through the BEC in the ESC. Or if connected to a glow plane, you will need to use a receiver pack.

    Great video Can I flash archer r6 and slim r9mm ota 900mhz receiver with EU/LBT firmware?

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 роки тому +1

      The R9 Slim or R9mm OTA is a definite yes. Though if they are 915MHz receivers, the antennas will not be tuned for 868MHz.
      With the R6 and ACCESS in general, there is no different firmware anymore for LBT. The transmitter is set to LBT or non-LBT, and the receiver self-configures to use it. The only difference will be the antennas for 900MHz receivers. 2.4GHz can be used on either with no downsides.

    • @omkarbilla
      @omkarbilla 3 роки тому +1

      @@MrD Thanks for the reply, I purchased Taranis q7 EU version along with the mentioned receivers. As you mentioned the antennas weren’t tuned for 868 MHz, is it true that they cannot be used with Taranis Q7 EU/LBT version?. Could you suggest me any way to use these receivers along with Taranis q7 LBT transmitter? Or any two receivers for a quad and fixed wing which supports with Q7 LBT version. I’ve been trying to figure out but since I’m a beginner, I’m very confused.

    • @MrD
      @MrD  3 роки тому +1

      @@omkarbilla you can use the antennas, they just won’t have the optimum performance. Going from 915 to 868 requires the antenna elements to be slightly longer for a better tune.
      If you’re a beginner, they will be fine. You won’t hit the limits of them. But if you start pushing things a year or so down the line, it would probably be worth just getting some antennas tuned to the correct frequency.
      Again, this is only with the R9 Ranger series. With the Archer series on 2.4GHz, the antennas are the same in LBT and non-LBT regions.
