Thanks for the great advice. I hope to see more of your videos soon. I’ve scheduled a lesson with a teacher based on the direction of this video.

Such a passionate and honest message. Poignant and resounding video for me to watch, (had to hit pause a few times.) I'm just starting back in music after 20+ years BECAUSE of my earliest experiences -- and formative years-- with the very types of 'instructors' you're warning/describing to your audience... lol... And yes, those online ads for the 'academies' are pretty annoying , (though, at times can be pretty humorous.) I don't want to read in a potential saxophone instructor's (or flautist's) 'credentials' that they're ALSO teaching guitar, ukulele , dulcimer and worship recorder. BTW, salute to you for NOT taking advantage of making your bread by accepting the piano 'gig' that was offered --- esp. at some poor, potential student's expense, thinking their learning for an individual that specializes on that specific instrument. Those online 'academies' can across as being pretty oily. Simply not good business practice, often void of basic ethics. Anyway, this is one of my favorite channels. Not only do I relate to and vibe off that off-beat humor yours, you're a fantastic teacher. Even via the internet, I almost feel you're a decent and genuine person. I wish that I knew someone one like you 45 years ago. Peace

Interesting video, 30 *coughs* years ago I took lesson from a 'child prodigy, played with blah blah symphony when 13, blah blah' and I struggled as he seemed to not understand why I didn't understand things the first time he explained it. Now I'm looking for lessons for my daughter and I'm running into more of a 'free virtual lessons from a college student that plays 4 instruments...kind of' and it really sheds light on finding the right teacher and how important it is.

Yeah, it isn't always easy, but a good teacher is really important. Hopefully this was helpful in someway. Thanks for watching and commenting. Good luck in your search... there are plenty of good teachers out there!
