Just answer me this question please 🙏… If student and professional saxophones sound the same, why we don’t see any musician playing on student saxophones ? I have never seen any professional player using a student saxophone in their concerts or shows.

Interesting! I liked the 5 the most, 80% of the time, but the 4.5 was more consistent while still being closer to the sound. 4 even more so. I'm a clarinetist though so my sound ideas are probably different lol

Yup. I've played metals from Guy Hawkins, Bergs, Link STM, Beechler Bellite, SR TECH, Runyon, Wolfe Wayne, Meyer, Lakey, Rousseau, on and on for 35 years. And each time I listened to a recording of myself, I got so mad, because my sound was still the same. I finally just settled on a Runyon Quantum and Beechler Bellite 10. Because they were loud, easy to blow, and never tried me out. Blew at least a thousand dollars in all those years. I bought the "deals" mostly from eBay. Never spent more than $129 on a mouthpiece. I should've listened to Don Menza.

I've listened to both the curved and straight neck C-Melody Saxs (Can I call it a Contralto Sax?) and like the straight neck sound better. More alto-y, but in a pleasant contralto register. Like Dianne Reeves, Diana Krall, Karen Carpenter. Very nice.

Facts because I play a John Packer Tenor (I know cheap horn but I'm broke) but I play professionally so I figured I'd try a YTS 62 iii maaaann the difference was night and day. It was crazy how much better the 62 played and more free blowing paired with my STM 7*.

From a personal standpoint, this particular C Melody Saxophone would be the actual Contralto Female Voice type. Obviously the Alto is supposed to be technically, and the Mezzo-Soprano Sax is the Mezzo-Soprano Female Voice equivalent. For me I guess the Alto Sax is just a RICH, Dark, Mezzo-Soprano instrument and Voice type, while the C Melody Sax is the actual equivalent to the Contralto Female Voice. Substituting the "C" Melody as "Contralto Melody" You play Awesome!! Great Video👍🏾👍🏾

Thanks for this video. I see that you stopped uploading, I want to encourage you to continue. It's hard to acknowledge that, but we have to practice routinely. I'm coming back after a long break and your videos help me get in the right mental state. Unfortunately it's hard to practice the saxophone before/after work because it will disturb the neighbors (especially sound work)
