Nice review. The rubber tracks are put on more light duty excavators in the US, like the ones you see in equipment rental yards. The metal tracks used more heavy duty excavators, such as what are on big construction sites. Rubber more for on a small, grass yard style site. The difference I've seen from big and small ones are the smaller ones have a bulldozer style blade as well, it helps to stabilize the shorter wheelbase between drive and front idler sprockets.
I have just purchased this model and you could use split pins for the rams, they are shiny, but do have a part line, they will allow movement of the rams for posing position, just slightly prize them apart and slide into cylinders, ...job done..
Ok I watched the build and I thought you did a great job on it. Why do people have to so picky! Then let them build the kit and show their results. Let your haters be your motivators cause you nailed this kit!
LOL, haters are everywhere. Imagine what kind of man gets up and says they are going to go online and complain about how someone else makes a model toy. Sad really. Thank you! facebook.com/hpiguysworkshop
I've had my eye on this for some time. I've been hoping to find it on Amazon. If I can get it straight from Japan, I can save on the overall cost. As for Hasegawa kits, I have completed a couple and they tend to be very high quality, similar to Tamiya, as you mentioned!
Jan. 2018---Thanks for showing off the kit & your building of it. Looks great. This is the 2nd video I've seen of this kit built. Even at $50, plan on getting one, maybe 2. One will be for a massive grave site where the dead come to "life" just as the first bucket of dirt is to be dumped on 'em. The other will have a scratch built grabber which is used to position concrete highway barricades, but this one will be used in setting up defensive positions against zombies.
Nice build. Got this kit in my stash so it was nice to see this build. Hasegawa kits are sweet. I have built a few of their kits and they have always built really nice
You could have made it poseable by using metal ( steel ) split pins of appropriate size and length, that way just a slight pulling apart of the pins, will bind on the inside of the hydraulic cylinders and maintain the pose and stay shiny like their chrome plated counterpart's.... otherwise nice build....
I noticed you put the decals on the clear plastic while still on tree - does this make the process easier? I find it challenging putting decals on small pieces that don't leave much space to slide them on - it's like trying to perfectly place stickers on small Lego pieces.
The instructions have you place the window decals in the inside of the windows, so I did that first, then assembled the cab. I wouldn't be able to reach into the cab and place them correctly after it was assembled.
Oct. 31, 2019---Have you checked to see if there are diecast versions of this and other construction equipment? Getting into 1/35th scale zombie/apocalypse dioramas and there's a serious lack of modern day cars/trucks. But lots of diecast ones in 1/32nd and 1/36th.
Some of the track excavators have rubber track cause it wont damages yards or chip up /mark up up concrete. I'm a diesel mechanic who used to work on heavy equipment. Chris is correct on what he says.

Finally !!! Something heavy-equipment-ish 🤣👍
Looks awesome 👍
Thanks Charlie!

Awesome work I purchased two kits myself also a front end loader can't wait to get started on them .
I just got their front end loader and hope to get to it this year.

Fit nicely, no real issues with fit.
I got this at Tower, right now you could snag it shipped for about $35 if you use coupon code 01a15.
hpiguys Workshop Nice, thanks for the info!

It's common for mini excavators to have rubber tracks.
Thanks for taking time to watch and comment!

I am lucky to have the job that I do because I can sit and watch all your builds during the day!
Hahaha, enjoy!
Fantastic Chris! Something you don't see very often!
Thanks Kenny!
Very nice kit. Thanks for the introduction to earth moving equipment modeling.
Thanks for watching Larry!
Don't forget a few scrapes on the back plate..lol
Nice build. Got this kit in my stash so it was nice to see this build.
Hasegawa kits are sweet. I have built a few of their kits and they have always built really nice
Thanks man, yeah fit was fine and the decals made me very happy.
Are they any kits like this in 1/24 or 1/25?
Nice Work
Thank you! Cheers!
You could have the Grab arm sitting next to machine - ready to use
This is a really cool kit! For a long time now I wanted to make a "drawer" with grabbers holding a crashed car just coming off the crasher
They do make two other models with the dual arm grabbers. Just add lots of weight to the back or it will tip with anything in it's jaws.

'otherwise' LOL
I review out of the box and make that pretty clear so that people know what to expect with the parts in the box.
Nice machine! Great review and build bud!!
Thanks sir!
Nice job on this one 😊👍👍
Thanks a lot Walter!
Perfect model for weathering!
You bet!
I like it !!
Thanks!
Nice job mate and love it at 1/35 as well!!!!
Thanks man!

That is a wonderful model.
Thanks!
As Always, Great Review and Build Chris. What a cool Excavator. Really like the build and weathering that you did.
Thanks again Chris.
Jeff
Thanks Jeff, glad you liked it.
Damn! Something else to add to my wish list! Too bad they are not in 1/24 or 1/25 scale.
They'd be huge for sure.
Yes , but i want one.

Enjoy the show thank you
Thanks Shawn!
I never would of thought of eye shadow for weathering. I might need to try it on my dump truck im working on
Works great, cheap and easy to remove if needed.
Great pointer on that one as well..who would know womens makeup could be useful to scale modeling. 👍
@@briancarsen6315 I use.make-up brushes and sponges all the time, especially for weathering.
Sweet build.
Vaughn
Thanks Vaughn!
Some john Deere yellow paint and a few decals . Would make a duplicate of the real thing.
Holy cow, that is so cool, seriously cool looking weathering job. Keep up the great work and have a great day.
Thanks!
SOME OF THE SMALL EXCAVAOTRS DO HAVE RUBBER TRACKS. SO THEY CAN OPERATE ON THE STREET>
Correct, this one is not a mini excavator, it's 32,000lbs and it has the steel tracks per Hitachi specs.

@@hpiguy right. Just because it has a blade Every one assumes it’s the size of a 305. What color orange did you use btw ?
Nice Chris!whelp going on a dollar store trip. Lol
Have fun!
very nice like to add to stash
It's a nice kit. I liked it. Waiting to get the steamroller in January.

USED - but not abused...
A1 from me
Thanks Kristian!
