When loading a single round into the chamber do not put the single round directly into the chamber and close the slide. Chamber that round via the magazine, then top off your mag. The top round that is fed into the chamber by a 1911 slides under the case extractor. The case extractor could be damaged by needing to over extend over case rim. Nice pistol, I have been carrying a Commander in 38 Super for over 40 years.
