Given 10s of thousands of different parts that has to be an inventory nightmare. I was in charge of a few thousand parts and that was hard enough. My hat's off to those men and women 😊
wow, you look at the bundles/wiring harnesses and all the parts that go into making a flyable aircraft and it is absolutely amazing that everything hooks up perfect and works like a charm....quite a feat for engineers and the mechanics that keep them flying.
I've built Fokker 100 and 70's a long time back. This dismantling just tears a hole through my soul! I know all planes need to face their end at some point, but.....ouch Edit: Damnit, this is worse then watching a funeral! To any of the planes I worked on: I put my heart into each and every one of you. Thank you for your service
I am only an o.a.p newbie avigeek and it breaks my heart to see these magnificent aircraft cut up, or left to rust. I love a particular West Atlantic boeing 737-3Y0(sf) G-JMCT, a 33 yrs old jet that was once a passenger plane and has worn dufferent liveries and companies, and converted to a cargo plane, so he was given a new lease of life. Maybe they could do more of that to these than cut them into pieces, as I believe all things, including them, are sentient and have their own personalities. Your post made me cry hon, because I feel the same towards these beautiful aircraft, all of them I am in awe as to how they flyxx bless you for feeling deeply for your part of their creations. Best wishes. Michelle xx
It's always been a 😭 moment for me when I hear of a plane being flown for retirement in a bone yard... Somewhat of a "sentimental journey", you might say😟
When they get to the bone yard is usually where they stay at, for ever. Cause there so out dated. Until some one like me thinks of a ideal to use them. Think i will get one, set out in the front yard, and live in it 🤣
An FYI, those jets you see at Davis Monthan at the 5:28 mark were not dismantled. They intentionally chopped the frame of those B-52s with a huge portable guillotine as part of a nuclear reduction pact with the USSR.
The Swoose Goose is being restored at the Museum of the United States Air Force right now. It is the only B-17 D in existence. It will take anywhere up to 10 years to restore. I can’t wait to see it finished,I saw it shoved into the back of one of the hangars when I was last at the museum back in 2014. They were still restoring the Memphis Bell at the time.
*_Former Boeing.... some great 'deals' on used A-380's and B-747's..._* Some aircraft never die, their 'parts' are re-used similar to Organ Transplants. There are lots of 'certified' used parts around the globe. But buyer beware... there are 'uncertified' used parts as well. It is possible to track used parts by Part Number. Usually the cheapest price comes with many liabilities. Crashes caused by cheap used parts are common and cheaters are prosecuted for murder. *_Boneyards for non-working aircraft are in high demand...._*
I’ve watched & enjoyed videos that discussed the 737 Combi that serviced remote airports such as Barrow AK and the mines and oil fields of Northern Canada. These jets that include side doors may be configured through the use of various to transport freight, vehicles and passengers. What a great concept. The last video I watched mentioned the Combi jets were being phased out. Too bad!
I spent 30 years working Spare’s for the Boeing Co. keeping track of part numbers is not that hard Properly storing and packing for shipping is overseen by experienced people. What would shock many not in the industry is the Price of both new and used parts.
I get angry when museums block the cockpit off or don't have ladders to go up and see the instrument panels!!!! They need to get those so they can be enjoyed also!!!!
Se desguazan utilizando sus piezas como repuesto para los modelos que aun estan en servicio como es el caso del A 380 los que estan desguazando estan sirviendo como fuente de repuestos para los A 380 que se encuentran en servicio
You failed to mention the devastation the act of shutting down the Canadian pipeline did on the US economy. An energy independent country was brought to its knees and required the buying of petroleum from the middle east as well as Russia.
Literally no one cares here and your noble was actually completely wrong LOL… also you work st Arby’s so non of this will effect you or your mom who live with 😂😂😂
Ok.....what did any of that have anything to do with any of this? Making a dead point I imagine.....the scrapping of aircraft has nothing to do with "shutting down the Alaska pipeline" and everything to do with recycling spare old aircraft parts.....🙄
@spaceace1006 Okay but some aircraft are taken out of the desert and put into service. Some second world war aircraft are still flying. Numerous GA aircraft too.
If they 747 had been designed in the late 90s it would also have fallen to the same fate as the A380. The 380 was too late to the market. Its nothing to do with the aircraft quality. It is an excellent aircraft. Stating that it was " French" is irrelevent....and ignorant.

I worked at Fokker in the paint shop as Forman on the F16 and then the F100/F70 Best years of my life
Hello Martijn Philips
Did you build Fokker F 16 Falcon Jets too ?
My Grandfather lived next to Fokker Vlissingen .
wonderful to know some of these old retired planes get a new life or spare parts to reuse in other planes as well, thank you for the video.
The Pima Air Museum is amazing. I am glad there are museums that love on these old work horses of freedom!💗
Yup, took our grandson there last, he was totally into it.

I'm glad I have a warplane museum near me that has the only Lancaster that you can go for a ride in.
This is so sad, those planes don’t deserve to be ruthlessly destroyed
Je suis tout à fait d’accord.
Happy 😊
It's the cycle of life, man. NOTHING lives forever.
Outstanding! Thank you.
nice to restore some old birds
Outstanding Presentation
take a section of that and put pontoons under it and make a cool houseboat or boathouse
Great narration!

Maybe check on your spelling before posting next time!!!! It is atrocious!!! 👎👎👎👎👎👎👎
Nice
The music at the beginning makes me feel like I’m reading the background story of a mid 90’s computer game. I like it!
The RNZAF still operate C-130's from the Vietnam era, 58 years old.
I flew on a C-130 in April 1971 from Da Nang to Tan Son Nhut air base......cool machine to ride in!
Thank you this is fascinating.
Wants to buy them*

Awesome video. I bet it saves thousands of dollars of taxpayers too!!!
An FYI, those jets you see at Davis Monthan at the 5:28 mark were not dismantled. They intentionally chopped the frame of those B-52s with a huge portable guillotine as part of a nuclear reduction pact with the USSR.
Good call...
Enjoyed the video. To me I think that would be a fun place to work except for the heat of the dessert.
Phenomenal!!.
FASCINATING
Felt sad for all those aircraft just biding time in that Arizona field,
they'll have their time again when them alien spaceships arrive! 😅
They are not biding time. They are wasting away
in a dry, hot-ass desert
Can we get a video on how to buy aircraft from the boneyard?

When you scrap , can you keep the cockpit
Good beautiful
When the flight hours have exceeded the lifespan of the aircraft structures, the aircraft is normally scraped.
I kept some room in my backyard for one A380 and one 747-8
;o)
Just heartbreaking.
Caspita....vedere un grande aereo come l' Airbus a380 che è relativamente recente ridotto così,mi piange il cuore ....non è giusto....😢😭

Absolutely, a simple bot in a hardware store may cost £2 but make it "aircraft grade" and it's £50!
I get angry when museums block the cockpit off or don't have ladders to go up and see the instrument panels!!!! They need to get those so they can be enjoyed also!!!!
‘Twenty Airport’ 😂
What is the purpose of saving so many F-4 phantoms and other retired aircrafts?
I'd love to see how a Russian boneyard is maintained. I would bet, with minimal attention to safety. I could be wrong, but that would be my guess.
my bro has been to Russia on business, and he says their jets are junk!
There wings can be car ports
Ever thought too many were ordered also the US Navy and there flattops , destroyers, frigates and many more .Just a thought
Save an Airbus. Scrap a Boeing😂🤙

Waste of a good airplane. Some planes are still flying from the 1950’s / 60’s. Why not put them to good use yet.

Don’t tell me that dismounted spare parts are sold for second hand to Air France or emirates , or some constructor else , I don’t believe you
