As a aviation lover this is absolutely heart wrenching to see. Just think that airplane flew to that location under its own power only to be cut up I have 13 acres here in N.M. I would love to have that on my property just think I could wake up every morning with a cup of coffee and see a beautiful iconic 707.
Great capture, AAF. Amazing to see after 60 years how strong it stood against all the hydraulic cutting machines. I’m surprised the weather radar was still on it after all these years too. Well done on a good video.
Thank you! Completely agreed, a pretty sturdy design. Another surprising one for me was how well the bumpers on the main landing gear worked. You can't really see it in the video but they were constantly spreading binder material in the area as there was quite a bit hydraulic oil pouring out of the fuselage. She was in a pretty good condition... ~ Ole ✈️
A real shame a museum couldn't have stepped in and took on this 707, Being a Rolls Royce Conway powered one it is pretty rare. The sound of that cutter reminds me of a dentist's drill! 😭 A shame an analysis wasn't done on airframe corrosion or lack of being parked up for so many years?
It’s sad to see the 707 die and how it was a plane which had many years of service I was crying because that’s a plane that now how every 707 is gone 😢
This is absolutely disgusting! There’s no excuse for the destruction of a piece of aviation heritage and a vintage aircraft. There’s no excuse for this whatsoever. The person who made that decision deserves all the shame and hate they get.
@@AreeyaKKC No they didn’t. There were groups that were raising money to move the jet. They wanted rid of it to put a spare 737 there. No effort was made to preserve the jet. It’s not excusable regardless anyway. If it was offered free, many foundations would’ve taken it as it is very easy to move it as it’s a narrow body and all you have to do is take the wings and tail fins off and transport them to a new location.

So sad to see this beautiful airplane scrapped. I believe lots of money could've been raised to save this unique aircraft. The Boeing 707-400 series should've been preserved into the Smithsonian museum or somewhere overseas in Europe. Shame on the person who made the decision to scrap an integral part of aviation. I see no reason to scrap an aircraft this old. There is no use for any of the parts as no 707s are flying anymore. The whole reason to cut retired planes like these up is to use the parts for other of the type. Literally such a wast of a historical airplane.

Tears my heart. I started flying the 707-436 and -336 in 1970 for BOAC. Flying her for 5,000 hours was pure, real, flying and piloting.
