D-ABOD was delivered to Lufthansa on April 24, 1960 and was phased out from operations in the end of 1975. The aircraft was then used as a technical trainer for Lufthansa Technik trainees until 1999 and then sold to Hamburg Airport for a symbolic price of one Euro. Hamburg Airport used her for regular firefighting trainings and as a trainer for the German federal police, airport security staff and ground handling workers. Oscar Delta appeared in some movies as well for whose she was painted in several fictional airline liverys.
On February 3, 2021 Hamburg Airport announced that the aircraft will be scrapped due to a lack of money for maintenance. Major aviation museums like Sinsheim or Speyer were contacted if they'd like to save the aircraft but both of them denied as the transportation costs were too high.
Therefore - from June 8 to June 16 - the aircraft was scapped but quite a few parts were preserved and will be auctioned later to aviation enthusiasts.
This airframe (MSN 17720 / LN 115) was one out of just two remaining 707-430's in the entire world. The other one (MSN 17713 / LN 169) is in a pretty bad condition sitting at Aero Beach in Uganda. After being originally delivered to BOAC, she flew for quite a few airlines before she was used as the governmental aircraft for Uganda. Uganda Government phased out the aircraft in October 1983 and since then the airframe is sitting on a beach right next to Entebbe International Airport.

Whoever made the decision to scrap this bird instead of having her preserved really has no respect for aviation.
here in my country they already destroyed dc 3
Dc-3 was great! How dare them
You got hat right!!
A total waste……. 😊
If it can't pay for itself, it's gotta go.
As a aviation lover this is absolutely heart wrenching to see. Just think that airplane flew to that location under its own power only to be cut up I have 13 acres here in N.M. I would love to have that on my property just think I could wake up every morning with a cup of coffee and see a beautiful iconic 707.
This belongs in a museum, not being turned into coke cans and fridges
this still hurts to watch. rip D-ABOD ♥
Rest in peace Boeing 707 you will always be remembered like the Concorde and the 747
That is throughly sad to see. Great work on filming
Auch wenn die Geräusche jedes einzelne Mal weh tun: Toll, dass Ihr das Ende der D-ABOD bis zum bitteren Ende dokumentiert habt! R.I.P. D-ABOD ❤
Great capture, AAF.
Amazing to see after 60 years how strong it stood against all the hydraulic cutting machines.
I’m surprised the weather radar was still on it after all these years too.
Well done on a good video.
Thank you! Completely agreed, a pretty sturdy design. Another surprising one for me was how well the bumpers on the main landing gear worked. You can't really see it in the video but they were constantly spreading binder material in the area as there was quite a bit hydraulic oil pouring out of the fuselage. She was in a pretty good condition... ~ Ole ✈️
i cant watch this anymore
There goes my chance to see a 707😭 I’m actually crying
Bro some still exist. Just not the 400 series
Good bye Classic Aircraft💔💔 😭😭
I flew on the exact plane in 1969 it was very nice but very loud but still the best flight I ever had sad to see the 707-430 get scrapped
My toy plane when my cousin returns it to me...
That is dark
lufthansa technik is too poor to save a plane
Everything that has a beginning has an end ... it is the end of the path ...
This is absolutely disgusting! There’s no excuse for the destruction of a piece of aviation heritage and a vintage aircraft. There’s no excuse for this whatsoever. The person who made that decision deserves all the shame and hate they get.
They offered it free to anyone who wanted it. No takers so it was scrapped.
@@AreeyaKKC No they didn’t. There were groups that were raising money to move the jet. They wanted rid of it to put a spare 737 there. No effort was made to preserve the jet. It’s not excusable regardless anyway. If it was offered free, many foundations would’ve taken it as it is very easy to move it as it’s a narrow body and all you have to do is take the wings and tail fins off and transport them to a new location.
@@demonblooddrinker7671 descriptions says it all
@@FlatEarthKiller Wrong. The people dedicated to saving it and other party’s offered to have it moved to another location but Hamburg blocked and ignored all of them. They weren’t interested in saving the plane at all. Stop trying to justify it. There is no justification. Shouldn’t of happened, it was a disgrace that it did. Stop trying to justify it.
@@skyefalconthehungrydragon9935 Sorry for offending you, i was commenting to put food on the table
Why
11:38, Boeing 707 to the other airplane: the way I look now, the way you will look in some years
A real shame a museum couldn't have stepped in and took on this 707, Being a Rolls Royce Conway powered one it is pretty rare. The sound of that cutter reminds me of a dentist's drill! 😭 A shame an analysis wasn't done on airframe corrosion or lack of being parked up for so many years?
My parents and I emigrated on it to the states back in '63, FRA-JFK. I have the pictures my dad took that day. I didn't know it was around that long. Too bad.
Wenn ich Baggerfahrer wäre würde ich kündigen bevor ich das machen müsste!
Really sad to see this...
Farewell 707
Incredibly sad how this classic plane came to its end... A shame it couldn't be saved from scrapping. Anyway, nice video, beautifully filmed. Thanks for sharing!
RIP 707 ????-2021
Fly high.
This ACTUALLY should be in a museum
The only reason for me to like this video is because in a way it kinda serves as a funeral- farewell d abod
The saddest part knowing its the last of its kind is hearing that angle grinder desposing the remains 😢
Out with old, in with the new!
NONONONONONO STOP! That's the wrong plane, that one belongs to John Travolta.
Who ever made the decision to destroy this fancy old school aircraft should go to h311
its clear pain
There’s still plenty of 707s on display. Even a -430 model.
You might want to change your registration in the video you got D-ABOD when it’s D-ABOB
Shame on you, Hamburg Airport. RIP D-ABOD
First flight December 20 1957. Total built 1,010 production ended 1991
Absolutely phenomenal!!!.
I am sad for the last Boeing 707 now we have to build replicas if we want it :(
Are there any preserved 707s
Yes.@@railfandepotproductions
@@Windows95-likes-old-tech I think the front of the 707 is in a museum
They were talking about the 707-400 there are still other 707 variants
why did you film the whole thing :(
707 not to scrapped it has to be preserved
💔💔💔😢😢😢😢😢 no that’s so sad
Could not watch the entire video, too sad and such a waste. Ought to be in a fine aviation museum, anywhere!
Nooooooo- too late 😭😭😭😭
😭
Can I get one of those window cuts?
Really really sad to see 😢
Man hätte den Flieger auch in den Stadtpark stellen können wie man es in Osteuropa macht 😿
In LA ist eine DC8 in einem Park auf Stelzen. Man hat sie sogar neu angemalt.
This is so sad 5:40
Wir haben noch eine Menge Teile von ihr…
i am guessing that john Travolta's 707 was a different model. now with the HISTORICAL AIRCRAFT RESTORATION SOCIETY LLC (NAPLES FL)
John Travolta‘s 707 is a 707-138B, the one scrapped is a 707-430, it was the last one in one piece
@@spongebubatz i said i guessed it was a different model. i knew it was a 707 because you can still see it at his house from the satellite view but you cant tell what the tail number
10:27 surprising to see no chocks attached - safety? 😲
Wasn't surprised to see that tbh, the whole dismantling went pretty bad considering that the nose, engines, gear and all windows fuselage elemets were to be sold. ~ Ole ✈️
Triste fim para uma bela aeronave.
Why do they use water?
They use it as a coolant for the saw. With no water the saw will be damaged a lot quicker
Also dust prevention
sounds like woodbroke😕
😢🥺😭💔✈️
Sehr schade um dieses tolle Flugzeug
Cool but the noise is🤬🤬🤬🤬
scrap aircraft dismantling
Why on earth would they scrap the last one? They should have let a museum have it 😢
No museum was interested in getting it. Transport was too expensive
@@AileronAviationFilmsthat is such a shame 😢
I feel as if that 707 is screaming in pain!! Should have preserved her!! Or turned her into a cool restaurant or even a hotel.
FUCK HOPE!!!!!! IT IS EXPENDABLE LIKE EVERYTHING ELSE IN LIFE!!!!
Should have been saved!!
Noooooooo😭😭😭😭😭😭😭
😭😭😭😭😭😭
😥😥😥
I see no reason to scrap an aircraft this old. There is no use for any of the parts as no 707s are flying anymore. The whole reason to cut retired planes like these up is to use the parts for other of the type. Literally such a wast of a historical airplane.
🤦🏻♂️
This is satisfyng
