    I have one of these ,same model. Had it 3 1/2 years. I want my grill to look as nice as possible for as long as possible. Whatever a person is comfortable with.

    This is not a fair review because this DLX looks like it's been abused and not taken care of properly. My DLX is also approaching the 2 year mark and it gets used on a regular basis even in the winter months. Mine looks nothing like this one. It pretty much looks like it did when I assembled it new. So anyone watching this video don't let this deter you from buying a Camp Chef pellet grill because they make good products.

      I disagree. He is correct in that almost every Camp Chef review the person has a new smoker and making videos about their first few cooks. This grill looks like this guy has owned it awhile and used it the way it was made to be used, but it doesn't look abused. Heck, mine even has a cover and it still gets a little discolored and dirty and that is just from using it, not neglecting it. My smoker lid and sear box lid are also discolored, and it is just natural that the soot and smoke collects everywhere because the unit is literally burning wood pellets with a marginal amount of oxygen to encourage smoke production. So of course the smoke byproducts are going to collect on surfaces after hours and hours of use. 5 minutes with a mild cleaner and a rag will clean up the surfaces and it won't look as bad. In some cases mine is even worse, especially my sear box grate which rusted very easily. I am even on my 2nd one since Camp Chef replaced the first one due to rust, now this season it is also rusting up. Maybe I need to eat greasier food. I do spray it with cooking oil to try and prevent that but all that heat on the grate just burns up any coating I try to leave in it. One thing that really impresses me are the grates inside the smoker. Those things are still like new after many, many hours of smoking lots of brisket and butts.

      @@wstewart5532 I agree. this is how it looks as a normal grill that you use and not pamper.

      @@TheArticSkipper Nothing wrong with pampering something you paid around 500 bucks for. Common sense.. if you take care of anything in life. It will work and look better.

      I agree. I've used mine at least once a week, winter and summer, for two years. I replace the foil and vacuum it out every four or five uses. It still works fine and looks good. Just use some all purpose cleaner on the outside and keep it covered when not in use. Great pellet grill.

    It's not dirty, it's well seasoned. That's where a lot of the flavor comes from.

    I used a garden torch to clean the disgusting on mine. Charred up the greasy stuff and then the disgusting submitted to a wire brush.

    Looks to me you need a lot of Awesome and Simple Green and Bar Keepers friend. I got Awsome at the Dollar store and it does a good job. I hadn’t touched my Pit Boss series 3 vertical and it did a pretty good job. SOS pads help as well.

    Looks like a typically used (not abused).pellet grill to me.

      Really? Just have small shop vac nearby. I bought mine for $5 at a garage sale. That, some foil and a little all purpose cleaner will keep it looking pretty good.

    So I’m thinking about buying this compared to the pit boss classic, or a traeger. Would you suggest buying it after you had it for so long?

    Abused, not used. You're review serves the purpose of how NOT to maintain the item.

    • @TheArticSkipper
      @TheArticSkipper  5 років тому +4

      This is not a review on how to maintain a perfect grill, it is here for the average joe. I use it and clean it when I can. This is not a slam job, just how it fairs when a regular guy uses it.

    Thank you for your informative review. Now it's been 2 years since your video was published, and getting close to 3rd year anniversary of your Camp Chef unit. Would you be kind to let me know if after all this time your smoker is still in a good working condition? I am currently on the market trying to decide on a grill/smoker, and Camp Chef looks like it has some good versatile models. Thank you.

      Funny that you should mention that. I just replaced the auger motor and control board. I was going to do an update....

    I would expect any pellet grill after some use to be quite nasty inside unless meticulously maintained overall are you satisfied with the performance of the smoker?

    Why do you use a blanket when you use the grill attachment?
