This is exciting news, Kerstin! I'm going to take your advice and figure out if it makes the most economic sense for me. Thank you for this video. It was so clear and concise but still detailed.
Hi, Kerstin!... I believe this feature is what is actually going to "tip me over" into making the leap from 7.0 to 7.1! Do you plan on using this feature to replace having to use Vimeo Pro with your online courses via your Member Areas?... Denise ✨😎✨
That's a great question, Denise! I won't for now because a) I usually combine videos with text and photos on my course pages (can't do that with the video page) and b) I like the chapters/timestamp feature in Vimeo that allows my students to easily jumpt to certain sections in the video. But I will be using the new video page to create a new index for my courses so that students can find just the video tutorials easily :)
@@KerstinMartin Thanks so much for the prompt reply, Kerstin!... Great points to consider.... I am new to your channel & website. And I am thrilled to discover you!... I was just on a networking call last night lauding your praises for your videos on creating online courses via Squarespace & providing a very clear step-by-step guide to transitioning from 7.0 to 7.1... Good fortune to you & see you again soon!... Denise ✨😎✨
Don't think you can do that via the video page or video block. If you want people to be able to download a video you might have to use something like Vimeo.
Hi Laurie, can't do that with the video banner but what you could do is add a video block to a section and make it full bleed and then adjust the video controls as desired.
Essentially, unless you pay for their plan to host your videos, you CANNOT select your own video thumbnails when using external links like UA-cam and Vimeo. This means, you'll have an ugly video gallery. Another reason why I can't stand Squarespace!

Thank you, so helpful!
How do you get an embed code?
I am not sure what you are referring to, Fiona?
@@KerstinMartin I didn’t understand how to create one.. I watched another video and figured it out

how can you add a video for digital download?
Don't think you can do that via the video page or video block. If you want people to be able to download a video you might have to use something like Vimeo.
I created a video in my hero shot but don't want it to autoplay. Do you have suggestions to turn off the autoplay function?
Hi Laurie, can't do that with the video banner but what you could do is add a video block to a section and make it full bleed and then adjust the video controls as desired.
@@KerstinMartin I want to do this for the hero shot. Don't think it will enable me to turn off autoplay sadly.
@@AWopBopaLoo You could do this as a hero image. Instead of using a section banner you'd just use a full-width video block.

I'm not sure what you mean, you CAN upload a custom thumbnail to a video block (which is what you use for Vimeo or UA-cam) in Squarespace.
Kerstin: please check your email if you can. I just goofed a big order from your site and need attention so I can get to work on your awesome course!
Check your email, I just replied :)
@@KerstinMartin you sure did! awesome!
