Beauty in Falling Leaves was the most important song for me to hear after losing my grandmother and childhood dog in the span of a week. I managed to catch Yob after saying goodbye to my best friend, and got a hug and advice from Mike after telling him what I was going through. He told me to breathe from the heels, and it's been one of the most helpful bits of advice for navigating emotionally tumultuous times. I needed to hear the beginning of this video this morning, thank you. Yob is love.
I totally get it. Got a call from my father telling me her has a terminal disease (ALS). I had just got Clearing the Path to Ascend. Marrow helped me process the emotions I felt knowing my amazing father would be gone in a few years. Mike's writing is deep.
Mike is so musical and turns what should be a simple riff into a thing of beauty with dissonance and intricate layers of sound. I saw them with Pallbearer in 2014 when Yob did the whole of "Clearing the Path To Ascend" at the Underworld in Camden, UK.... I can't wait to see YOB at Desertfest in London! Hearing him mention Solitude Aeturnus in previous interviews proved to me that he knows this music backwards and forwards as they are often overlooked by people into Doom. I should be getting my ATMA reissue later this year as well. Cheers Jason.
I remember when Fuzzlord was a tiny company with low batch numbers. I'm not sure which was more rare, your favorite record you could never find or a Fuzzlord pedal. Now look at Jason, he's got Mike playing on his channel.
Such a unique playing style. Too many brilliant YOB songs to mention. Beauty in Falling Leaves and Marrow are deeply moving. Quantum Mystic and Original Face connect with me in an equally deep but more primal way. It's hard to out into words how much I vibe on this band. I came across YOB at a time when I felt lost and hopeless and I was captivated by their raw expression of emotion. A lot of screaming along with Mike in my car 😆. Can't thank them enough for the music. Never been lucky enough to see YOB live but I rewatch the Pickathon - Woods Stage recording over and over and it never gets old. So awesome to see Fuzzlord and YOB working together 🤘
Man, I could watch Mike play for hours. Such a unique and killer musician. Sold me even more on the Alchemist pups! Also helped me finally figure out how to play Beauty in Falling Leaves! Thank you so much for the video!
Saw YOB in Houston in 2017 right after he got back on tour after his hospitalization. The emotion that was emanating off of him just permeated the room. Everyone in there shared such an incredible appreciation for life. Favorite song is either Unmask the Specter or Grasping Air.
With so much greatness in the YOB catalogue, how does one pick a favorite? The song The Illusion of Motion on good headphones with eyes closed during a lysergic peak did something very special to me. ATMA!
Always killer when Mike drops by. Seeing Yob play is a must. Gorgeous playing; really needed to hear this today. Thanks so much as always, Jason! Cheers!
Always love your collaborations with Mike. I'm assuming he's using the Fuzzlord pickups in this video or still his Black Dogs? Favorite song is actually Marrow, which they played as an Encore at Neumos in Seattle back in like 2018 and it absolutely blew my mind live. I've seen em in Seattle a few times, Vegas and PDX and hoping to catch 'em again soon!
Amazing talent on display here, beautiful playing. Great video and amazing job to everyone involved in working on the guitar! Mike's making it sing! Such a great tone.
Nice to hear Mike on your channel, Jason! I saved the last video of Mike showing off his pedal board. Never saw YOB live. Baton Rouge is a crappy town for stoner/doom.
Yeah good stuff man. What a way to start the morning as I’m up at 4:20 and I don’t even smoke. No lie, this was meant to be. I’ve enjoyed Mike’s playing for a long, long time. I’m 49 now just 2 days away from my birthday and I think the first time I heard them was back in 03’ or 04’ when I was in my late 20’s which seems like forever ago. I’ve enjoyed all his projects and his solo stuff too. Anyway… I was a budding SUNN O))) fan and needed something else to scratch that slow and doomy itch… IMO “Exorcism of The Host” is one of my favorite YOB songs as it starts with a huge bell and is just in no hurry to do anything and ultimately just grooves your balls off. I bought that CD at a Tower Records store outside of D.C. where I live in VA and I literally sat in my car listening to the entire album with my jaw dropped. I just remember thinking that record was absolutely perfect. Mike’s playing, which I find so inspiring anyway is just very special on that song. And his vocals are just oddly comforting and uplifting at the end. Wish him the best and hope he lives a long, long and healthy life.
People have no idea about the healing power of music. They think it's something for free on Spotify. But we know. Don't we? Because of people like Mike, we know.
SO. I’ve spent the last 24 hours or so listening to this bands discography. I just hafta say, I was COMPLETELY WRONG ABOUT YOB. THEYRE FUCKING INCREDIBLE. Please feel free to roast me or laugh at my expense for being such an idiot. I didn’t GET their music right away. Fuckin guitar licks are amazing and unique as hell. Found a new band to like. Fuckin A. 🤘 Everyone have a great day and don’t forget to rock n roll 🤘

I am so glad this music can bring peace to you. It is very spiritual and loving to me. I wish you the best dude, you are more loved than you know
Loss is never easy and contrary to what people say you never get over it you just learn to deal with it
I totally get it.
Got a call from my father telling me her has a terminal disease (ALS).
I had just got Clearing the Path to Ascend.
Marrow helped me process the emotions I felt knowing my amazing father would be gone in a few years.
Mike's writing is deep.
One of the greatest songwriters of our lifetime.
Holy hell his right hand technique is something to strive for
it is so wild!

You'd hear about 3-4 songs 😂
Beauty in falling leaves, and The screen.
Saw YOB in Houston in 2017 right after he got back on tour after his hospitalization. The emotion that was emanating off of him just permeated the room. Everyone in there shared such an incredible appreciation for life. Favorite song is either Unmask the Specter or Grasping Air.
Good to see him looking so healthy now. That must of been scary as f**k what he went through. Can't wait for the next YOB album.
With so much greatness in the YOB catalogue, how does one pick a favorite?

ATMA!
Hah a comment passed by, even if I do not know the song, I can definitely understand your point of view.
@@Nathris94100 It's a journey of a song. About half an hour long. Buy the ticket, take the ride.
Brings me to my inner home/Sanctuary hearing this song.
Fk yeah!!! I love beauty in falling leaves. It’s such a ride there’s so many peaks and valleys

My man! Greetings from Switzerland. I bought my Yob ticket the day it was announced. 🔥
Mike creates gold from sound. I have never seen Yob live. Something I plan on changing asap. They are amazing.

People who appreciate YOB are superior people.
RocOn Jason. Mike Sounds Awesome.Nice PUP Set.. Peace.
Super doper!
do you have a discord or have you considered making one for all of us gear lords to gather?
Love it!
Never seen Yob live myself, but I did buy some guitar gear from a guy whose band opened for Yob a while back. Said Mike was a cool guy.
People have no idea about the healing power of music. They think it's something for free on Spotify. But we know. Don't we? Because of people like Mike, we know.
Hope to see Yob one day in my lifetime!
Calm yogi. Doom yogi.
Mike is Gandalf in the Fellowship of Stoner/Doom.
What amp was he running into? Sounds great
