My favorite part is at 13:55 when you say that it's 12:12 and it brought my attention to the fact that the clock behind you is wrong. Then it brought my attention to the fact that the clock behind you is not working at all. #fashionclock #aestheticlock
Dunna Did It Hahahaha that’s right! I purposely didn’t put a battery in it because I knew if I was cutting up my timeline and moving things around the clock would be going all over the place 😂
The process is so daunting! To someone who wants to create, but doesn't have the software experience......this video makes me think 'Jeeez, I can't do this!' lol
Thank you so much for sharing how you Vlog from start to finish! I'm trying to convince myself to start a Vlog for my tiny little family and watching this was tremendously helpful. You got yourself another subscriber!
I'm a yankee born and raised but then I moved to the South and became a Sunday school teacher. After my first class, one of my students and friends pulled me aside and said, "You're in the South now and you talk way too fast. You need to slow it down because we can't listen that fast." Becki, you have the same problem. You're trying to instruct us on something technical and while the information is great, it's difficult to follow you when I feel like I'm always a sentence behind because I'm still trying to process the information.
I shoot all in one day, I run and gun, I almost never give myself time to plan,I edit it all in premier, I dont know how to even use a lut.... and this is why my videos are no were near your guys videos! This is the info I needed!! I need to put in the work! Thank you!
I know there is more involved with this process. Everyone is different. But Dang Becki and Chris you need a hug! Thank you so much for this video. I think more than enough to get anyone started in the right direction. I surely feel this will help me complete my videos and more confident that it can be done by me! You more than deliver as usual. I can't thank you enough!!
You mentioned the echo in the hanger. Izotope makes the RX7 plugin suite. It’s for audio repair, including hum, clicks, and there is a de-verb plugin. Check them out! They should work in audition just fine.
Becki and Chris, my wife and I have just binged watch all of your videos and are all caught up. We are sad we have to wait weekly now 😢 We wanted to let you know that your vlog is by far our fav ever! We have truly been inspired by you guys. Keep bringing us all the amazing content! We have a young UA-cam channel and your tutorials have been very helpful.
Becki, you have no idea how you've changed my game just by introducing me to Epidemic Sounds in this video. THANK Peter McKinnon for doing the weekend bucket-list with Chris.
Like I said on your Photoshop tutorial and editing slow motion video. I swear you guys know my UA-cam search history because a couple of days ago I was looking for making a vlog from beginning to end. And here you guys uploaded a walkthrough for that
what are the odds that im sitting here a little bummed out because i dont feel like im "stuck" (as far as youtube and creativity) u guys go head and drop this video!!!! AMAZING! very inspiring , thanks you for this lol
New to the YT world as creating videos and working on some now as a 2019 goal to create and do more. Love that I came across your channel and love the 10-15 vids I have watched thus far. Thanks!
Thank you guys SO much for this video. we're wanting to release more vlog- style content on our channel and this video made the process seem so much less daunting!
Finally got to watch this and loved hearing about your editing process! I'm going to try using multiple adjustment layers for color like you had mentioned. I can never get my color the way I want it to look, so thanks for the tip!
First of all new Subscriber from Zambia!!! I literally edited my first video yesterday using an online editor called "Clip Champ" and all I did was cut out a clip from a concert I attended. But I was so happy and proud that it removed the fear of not being able to create videos for a UA-cam channel. This video was so so helpful, and a full series detected to organising your files, workflow, working with audio and editing will be truly appreciated. Thanks for sharing this valuable information and all the best in everything you do.
This was waaaaay over my head! Lol! Loved it anyway, but yeah...my eyes glosses over a couple times like I was in some advanced mathematics class. Love you guys! Keep em comin!
Awesome video! Lots covered in a short amount of time. Would love to learn more about the three adjustment layers for color grading. Wanted to touch on your “audio” part though. I am an audio engineer, and though I deal with music more than dialogue, I have to say your audio is great. As far as the stuff like “the hanger having echo,” or what not. There are ways to fix this! I’m not savvy with Audition, and though I plan to learn it, I cannot comment on what’s available within Audition that you can use to remedy this (can update when I dive in). I guarantee there are things, just not familiar enough to give a detailed explanation. Some basics for audio though, and this may be redundant (and I only say it because it was not discussed), always high pass your clips. Eliminates rumble and such from moving things, things moving, etc. It seems that you do this, as I don’t notice abrasive rumble, but again, nothing personal. You crossfade everything which is superb. Level matching your audio is considered “normalizing”, which is perfect for what you’re doing. Dealing with outside noise that interferes with context. This rule applies everywhere, including what you’re doing which you obviously practice, but best to get it right at the source. Something simple would be using lavalieres; though they’re Omni directional, they’re so close to your person that echoing or whatever else does not become apparent (good signal to “noise” so to speak). They’re not that cheap, but long term they’re stellar. With stuff like the hanger, you could using something like a transient designer. Simple ones will allow you to adjust the attack and sustain. In that instance, you would be pulling down the sustain, or the echo as it would be interpreted as such [sustain]. Another approach is using something like Izotope RX. Allows you to pinpoint sounds and frequency ranges (RT times as well, which applies to echos), and pull them out. Problem there is it’s expensive. Great plugin that presumably works with Audition, but I’m not too familiar. A compressor can also work. Though the usual ideal of a compressor is to control peaks, it can be used to shape transients (like a transient designer) to bring out parts you want, and “turn down” (compress) parts you don’t. Something with a slow attack and medium release could allow speech to come through, while grabbing echos and bringing them down. A NON post production way to address this though, is to walk around the hanger clapping slowly. Find a spot where the echo is the least. Avoid being close to walls and corners (and perfectly square rooms- creates standing waves and nulls) as they reflect sound or trap low end frequencies which will resonate. Usually mics for cameras are shotgun mics. Meaning they’re VERY directionally. Face the back (and sides.. back/side) at reflective surfaces that will cause an echo. Remember that even if the back (and sides toward back) of the mic reject the most, if it’s close enough to a wall, and you’re close enough for the camera to pick you up accurate, you’re most likely reflecting your speech against that wall moreso than not, meaning it has a better chance of getting back in to that mic. There are quite a few other ways to approach this but.. with all that being said, I honestly thing the echoes add realism to the scenario. You’re in a hanger.. it’s expected. I understand you obviously want what you’re saying to come across, but it does. I know this is lengthy, but you put in the time to create such an elaborate video (and all your videos!); always looking to help. Hopefully nothing’s redundant here. Just remember, if it sounds good, or suits the setting, it is good. *edit* wanted to touch on the limiter.. that’s perfect. But if it’s blowing out the limiter (3 or 6 or 9 dB), just turn down that clip! It’s okay if it bumps it, that’s the point, but if nothing is hitting the limiter, then one clip smashes the limiter, just turn that clip down. And make sure your output level is set to -.01 to -.03. This will keep it from clipping other people’s (and potentially UA-cam’s?) audio conversion.
holy shit. Today I spent about 90 minutes figuring out where I could find an adjustment layer and then why my windows in Premier were in weird places, soooooo a little way off this level of knowledge. Impressive guys.
Awesome video, as in, really, really awesome. Thanks for all the detail. Instant sub. I feel it would take me a couple of weeks to go through the process. Getting started is hard!
Becki there's an app by digitlal rebellion called post haste. content management with a click all you have to do is setup your template in premiere in whatever folder structure you typically set up your vlog stuff with. cam 1, music, sfx, etc. for vlogging and music videos it's so dope i just open it and give my project a name and the entire folder setup and premiere and after effects projects are set up immediately.
ERMERGERD!! you guys are soo great, thank you for everything you do! This just taught me i can add grades to adjustment layers. I NEVER use adjustment layers. now i have a reason to!
Hey Guys, thisone is a really important video to us, since we are just starting to film and edit vlogs. Really very informative, thank you for sharing your experiences with us :) Greetings from Germany, Ben & Madlen
Wow. Absolutely loved watching your work flow, very inspiring. I’m one of the people that came from Peter’s channel, but I’ve been enjoying your videos so much that I’ve started going into your older vids. Great work, love your channel, cheers :)
Super helpful-thanks! I’d love to see a branding video from you guys. Your brand is so gorgeous. All your design videos have been super helpful for me (as a non-designer).
You two crack me up. And yes my wife laughs at me when I have a put the same clothes back on as when I started a video, and then the days I batch shoot and have to wear multiple outfits! The unseen fun of creating 🤣🤣
Hey whats up guys, fellow buffalonian/youtuber here, just about 1 year in. I love making vids! Found your from peter mckinnons.. currently binge watching, love it :) hope you both have a super great day. I talked to my wife about getting a helicopter n she said yes, 2nd happiest day of my life lmao
Long videos are risky... But you nailed it with this one! I'm pulling so many good ideas from this, and you kept it moving along really well! (For instance, sending the whole project to Audition? Who knew you could do that?!) It's great to get such a behind-the-scenes look at your process and see how the "UA-cam Elves" work their magic! Thanks so much - keep crushing it! 👊🙂
Loved this! The color grading part’s confusing though so Id love to see a full video tutorial on it! Im trying to improve my UA-cam game, and I’m really trying to streamline my editing process so I can make more videos!
Love this, great job working through your process! It's always nice to see the process of others in order to help streamline your own, and make things even more efficient. The "edit right after filming" idea is exactly right. I've noticed when I do that things go much quicker (and is way more enjoyable) than having to edit the video I filmed last month. Which, speaking of...I have to go edit the video I filmed last month. Wish me luck...
Loved the bts on the process going into making a great video. My biggest take away from this is that there’s a lut to make s log footage look normal. Despite my best attempts at correcting/grading my s log footage look normal, it always looks like a hot mess lol. Thanks you guys!
Thanks for sharing the workflow from planning to posting. This is very informative and inspiring. I don’t use any of your gear or software but I got so much value from this video. Looking forward to watch more
Wow, guys! You two are amazing. I came over recently from Peter. Becki, you really know your stuff when it comes to this. I vlog myself so I know how much time it takes, especially in post. But I think you probably spend about 2-3x the amount of time I do in post production. And it shows. What I'm most surprised about though is the amount of time you spend on audio editing. I do it within Premiere so I can't say how long I spend but damn you guys have so much attention to detail for every single element of the video. Your videos are awesome and inspiring to other creators!
This is a fantastic video. Thanks for making it. It brings up a couple of additional questions for me: 1. I've seen other people say they'll put on the same clothes if they're filming over several days. Why do you find it important to make it look like it happened all in one day? 2. Why do you export and then upload to UA-cam vs. just upload to UA-cam right from Premiere?
Matej Novak it depends, usually for consistency in a video especially if it’s a set up and shoot/concept video (if it’s supposed to look like the same day), but if it’s a travel thing I don’t do it. And sometimes we do export and upload at once (especially if we do it overnight or if we are leaving the house for a while) but we’ve had it fail a nice few times before so we like to do it manually.
At 8:28, you talk about how you watch all the clips before dragging them to your timeline at x2 speed, how do you do that? I was looking for a way to speed up the playback but couldn't find it anywhere; your help is appreciated!
Great insights into the workings required to assemble your VLOGs. Thank you. Is there a significance to the clock setting on the wall? It seems to be set to 4:32:39...my OCD is driving me crazy because I can't resolve this. Keep up the great work!
Haven’t made a video this long in a while! Happy Friday guys, what are you creating this weekend?
you should show us how to color grade like you do. i would love that
My favorite part is at 13:55 when you say that it's 12:12 and it brought my attention to the fact that the clock behind you is wrong.
😂😂😂
I was watching the clock as well and was like “wow, this girl is a one take wonder “ 🤣🤣
Hi Dunna! 👋🏼😉
Make a detailed tutorial on LOG(or flat profile) color grading the way you've explained it here, please!
That would be really helpful.
The editing process is actually so much fun, sometimes even more than actually shooting the video!
Thanks to Peter McKinnon for this great Channel 😉
Yep, thanks PM and off course thanks to B&C!
Axel Cavé Totally. I’m here because of him too.
Axel Cavé Same here! HOOKED!!
Ditto
oh forget Peter! the only reason i know about B&C is because of their christmas gift thing that Alex Gasaway did in 2019!
The process is so daunting! To someone who wants to create, but doesn't have the software experience......this video makes me think 'Jeeez, I can't do this!' lol
Can’t believe I only just found this.
It’s nice to see another creators process 👍🏽 incredibly beneficial
The intro NEVER EVER gets old. Wow I didn't realize how important branding is and how consistent it should be. Thanks for sharing
Thank you so much for sharing how you Vlog from start to finish! I'm trying to convince myself to start a Vlog for my tiny little family and watching this was tremendously helpful. You got yourself another subscriber!
Intelligible is something that is understandable and you nailed it!
I'm a yankee born and raised but then I moved to the South and became a Sunday school teacher. After my first class, one of my students and friends pulled me aside and said, "You're in the South now and you talk way too fast. You need to slow it down because we can't listen that fast." This showed me editing is not a click of a button. Its a Work of Art!!
I shoot all in one day, I run and gun, I almost never give myself time to plan,I edit it all in premier, I dont know how to even use a lut.... and this is why my videos are no were near your guys videos! This is the info I needed!! I need to put in the work! Thank you!

This was helpful in the sense that I know what is necessary for the quality content that I will be creating! Thanks

So glad I found your video today! Tomorrow is my first time vlogging and I have been overthinking about it. This is so helpful!
I love your color grading (eg @13:00) and just the overall production value. So much work goes into it, and it shows! great job!!
This is so nice, because its not often people show how much work it actually is to make great videos :)
Really enjoyed it - it's a lot more than I had imagined. I loved the lighting in the hangar. Thanks for sharing.
Thank you for sharing. This is very helpful!
Becki, you have no idea how you've changed my game just by introducing me to Epidemic Sounds in this video. THANK Peter McKinnon for doing the weekend bucket-list with Chris.
Great video! Never realized all the work that's necessary in order to produce a quality UA-cam video.
Dropping gold... gotta love the process of making videos in order to do it consistently 🤯
I have been looking for a video like this for a while so thank you! :)
Always happy to get a peek into other creative's workflow, thank you for sharing! :)
p.s. Audition is my worst nightmare lol
Like I said on your Photoshop tutorial and editing slow motion video. I swear you guys know my UA-cam search history because a couple of days ago I was looking for making a vlog from beginning to end. And here you guys uploaded a walkthrough for that
john john omg too funny! On the same wavelength 😂
I LOVED this video, great insight into your process. Thanks for sharing

Super great video! Low key, Becki and Chris are amazing story tellers. Keep up the good work guys~

Thank you guys SO much for this video. we're wanting to release more vlog- style content on our channel and this video made the process seem so much less daunting!
A super helpful video. I learned a lot on the audio side. Thanks so much for posting this.

Great Tutorial! If you need any ideas for a follow up, I suggest an in depth tutorial on your color grading process! Thanks again!

This is quite advance for a youtube beginner but there's some golden nugs. Thanks!
This is very helpful for a small youtuber just like me who just started a channel. Thanks big time!
this is insane, you guys are so good! I definitely need to practice and learn a lot more.
ERMERGERD!! you guys are soo great, thank you for everything you do! This just taught me i can add grades to adjustment layers. I NEVER use adjustment layers. now i have a reason to!
Simon Kaye omg adjustment layers are a game changer! Hope it helps your workflow! :)

Wow, you guys make it look so easy. Learned a lot. Thanks for the effort and sharing your creative process.
It is interesting to watch your guys process and organization into making content I Loved It!!
Loved watching your process!
Wow! That is a lot of work that you are putting in for these vlogs! Great Job!
Woah, you tweak all the audio in Audition?? I have no idea how to do that. Video plz? :)
I second this
Super helpful-thanks! I’d love to see a branding video from you guys. Your brand is so gorgeous. All your design videos have been super helpful for me (as a non-designer).
Erin's Travels thanks so much! I’ve got one in the works! Looking forward to sharing :)
You two crack me up. And yes my wife laughs at me when I have a put the same clothes back on as when I started a video, and then the days I batch shoot and have to wear multiple outfits! The unseen fun of creating 🤣🤣
Video was super helpful. Thank you.
WOW! Thats a lot of work for a single youtube video. But it really shows in your work.
Thanks for this. Lots of great nuggets of information in here. You rock!
Great job explaining your vlog creation. Verified that blogging is too much work for me.

I just found this channel and I’m so excited to watch more! Such a cool channel! 😁
Wow.. that's a big checklist.. 2 layers of adjustment layer etc.. wonder how long it takes to create one video.
Thanks for this video, it was inspiring and helpful :)
Great stuff you do guys, really nice to watching you, keep enjoying what you do, big UP (y)
Im late but luv yall and love the video me and my lady are fans!
Thanks for walking us through the steps. Where Can I learn more about editing the audio like you did?
You guys rock! Thank you! Binged video #11
Awesome video ! really helpful tips and its always really cool to see peoples work flow, so different to how i would do it but i love that!
This is a fantastic video. Thanks for making it. It brings up a couple of additional questions for me: 1. And sometimes we do export and upload at once (especially if we do it overnight or if we are leaving the house for a while) but we’ve had it fail a nice few times before so we like to do it manually.
Thanks so much! Really appreciate the reply.
Thanks for the insights and structure it really helps
At 8:28, you talk about how you watch all the clips before dragging them to your timeline at x2 speed, how do you do that? I was looking for a way to speed up the playback but couldn't find it anywhere; your help is appreciated!

Great insights into the workings required to assemble your VLOGs. Thank you. Is there a significance to the clock setting on the wall? It seems to be set to 4:32:39...my OCD is driving me crazy because I can't resolve this. Keep up the great work!
lots of gold in here, thank you
quick question, how long did it take to edit the video? just the pro production part.
