NEW RICHMONT ENQUIRUS PLATFORM TO TACKLE LUXURY WATCH THEFTS
No safe, no problem. Richemont's new online platform seeks to safeguard your belongings in a modern way. According to a statement released by the Swiss luxury titan on Thursday, the encrypted database, known as Enquirus, is intended to assist police agencies throughout the world in combating watch and jewelry theft. It comes as high-end robberies continue to rise globally. Collectors in California's Bay Area, for example, have had valuable Rolexes taken right off their wrists, and crooks in London have begun utilizing social media to rob watch enthusiasts. One Hollywood heist involved the theft of $100 million in jewelry from an armored truck outside Los Angeles. It appears that assistance is required. Enquirus comes into play. The "trusted space," which is open to all luxury companies and collectors, allows important information to be safely uploaded, searched for, and shared by various parties while protecting each individual's identity. So, how exactly does it work? Owners register their collections with brand and serial numbers and can subsequently report any lost or stolen items. If you're thinking about buying a used watch or some vintage jewelry, you can check the database first to make sure it's not a stolen item. Enquirus already includes 175 watchmakers and jewelers, including Richemont's own brands Montblanc, Piaget, Cartier, Panerai, IWC, and Vacheron Constantin. Thousands of collectors, as well as police agencies in Paris, Geneva, and England, have already uploaded their information. According to Richemont, over 28,000 pieces of jewelry and timepieces have already been reported as lost or stolen. Of course, Enquirus is not the first of its sort. A database comparable to Watch Register is used for trading watches and retrieving stolen models. It does, however, require a small price to search for a watch, whereas Enquirus is now free. "By allowing customers and industry partners free access, the opportunity to sell stolen watches becomes more prohibitive, with the ultimate goal of reducing the incentive to steal watches in the first place," Richemont CEO Jérôme Lambert said in a statement. It appears to be a win-win situation for collectors.

Every story about Keanu Reeves seems to exist only to burnish the legend of Keanu Reeves. Like this one: in 2021, after filming wrapped for John Wick: Chapter 4, Reeves bought the group of stuntmen who worked with him on the film Rolex Submariners. Each watch was engraved with the recipient’s name and the line “Thank you Keanu JW4 2021.” It wasn’t clear, however, whether or not Reeves had picked up one for himself. Now we may have an answer: Reeves wore a Rolex Submariner to the movie’s premiere on Monday. Rolex Daytona that bears emotional value for the famous actor and car racer, Paul Newman, will go to Sotheby’s auction along with his other personal items. Each timepiece is expected to raise up to $1 million.
Sotheby’s said last month that more than 300 items owned by the movie star and car racer Newman and his wife of 50 years Joanne Woodward would go under the hammer on June 9 in New York. #rolex #patekphilippe #audemarspiguet
