- I got the chance to fish in the Western Wild Card Bassmaster qualifying event on Clear Lake. 110 anglers battled it out for 11 spots available to fish in the 2025 BASSMASTER BASS Nation Kayak National Championship.

Getting better every time out, love it. I know wacky rig is not your favorite style, but I have had great success over the years with a chartruesse tipped senko tail with a watermelon body. Both in stained and ultra clear water. Smallies and Largemouth like em, up north anyway. P.S. Dont you just love how people in big powerful bass boats think they have priority on a hole over others, lol.
@@timgeary6461 thanks Tim! I don’t mind the wacky rig, I use it often, it’s the drop shot I hate 🤣. I know that technique catches them too, I just only use it as a last resort. I will have to at least give this guy in the bass boat credit, he allowed me to fish the area first, which I’ve had several guys not give any respect to me and just come in and fish on top of me. But I’ve had kayak fishermen do the same too 🤷🏼♂️.

Thanks Dug! I should have posted some video of the water on my pre-fish day, because this area was "clear" compared to that. So much slime on the water it was clogging up the guides and turning my line green 😧

@@DoubleBogeyBass thanks brotha unfortunately my tournament day GoPro wouldn’t read my sd card while waiting to launch in the parking lot that morning. So it will be just a quick recap few minutes from that weeks practice but it’s honestly identical to tourney day. Definitely definitely bummed about it messing up ended up buying another GoPro for backup and and another sd card
@@channel2drew983 totally understand the issues with GoPro. I have a love/hate relationship with them. That’s why I run 2 cameras, so at least one should capture something, but even then I’ve had issues 🤣😂.

Clearlake is tough cause of the pressure. I have a friend that lives there and says that they have been successful with smaller swim baits during this time. I’m looking forward to more videos 😎🤙. Heck I might see you next year on one of the tournaments. 🤙
Yeah they were very keyed in on small bait during the WCC/YAB tournament there a few weeks ago. One of these days I'll just crush it out there, but it's been very hit or miss for me there. Hope to see you out there in tournaments, it's been a fun 2 years for me doing it!
