Ok, I was watching TV last night. When I saw Buckcherry on my TV, seeing how a hate Buckcherry my first response was 'WTF IS THIS SHIT?!' Then I start hearing Highway Star come out of the speakers. For the next 15 seconds, you could have knocked me over with a feather. I was blown away by the amazing performance I was hearing by them. I still don't like them, because I've only heard ONE good song by them and several bad ones, but they are a lot more talented than I once thought.
A- The courses are much more complicated because it is not just a round track but a series of complicated maneuvers B- The buttons in the F1 racing car steering wheels are for controlling every single thing about the car starting with something basic such as the stiffness of the wheels to being able to control even the tiniest of details in the car
I'm a big Deep Purple fan and have been since the 60s. Naturally this version isn't as great as the original but it's still very good. Their guitar players are great. I agree with rupture007....... both versions rock.
This was the opening theme for the six TNT races during the 2009 season, and will likely change in 2010 with Bill Weber gone after the hotel fight, replaced by Ralph Sheheen. As it's an opening theme, the "best of TNT" calls are there.

Apart from missing the organ solo, I say it's pretty cool. Seeing the singer jump over a car was really a WTF? moment. Two critics: 1) Why put commentators talking over the guitar solo? 2) They changed the strumming part after the triplets.
I am fan of hard music in general and I am old enough to remember the original on the radio, but this is still an awesome version of this song. Who cares if a newer band covers an older song as long as it's done well? My only complaint is they left out my favorite line towards the end. Instead of him saying, "It's a mad hurricane", I always liked the line from the original which says, "8 cylinders; all mine".

I probably think it was removed because of issues following Bill Weber's firing midway through the 2009 TNT season. They wanted something new to reflect a fresh start with TNT's new lead Adam Alexander.
They are giving respect to it, if they want to 'disrespect' it, they would make it into a rap song like most of the apeshit rappers of today. This is a compliment to Deep Purple and they given kudos to Buckcherry for this version.
