I wish You try some magical Nikon wildlife lens.
As a big time tuber, you can afford to hire a camera saddle. You know, those short guys with the brightly colored knee pads and the funny bean bag hats that walk around in front of you and squat on command so you can rest your super tele comfortably in the saddle hat and eliminate all but the most raucous vibrations. The yellow flowers are marsh marigolds.
Are you applying for the job? 😂
@@michelebedard2226 No, one of my gigs is coordinating the international union of camera saddle guys.
Sounds like a telephoto fluffler
@@Uriel602 It's hard work keeping up with K's wit but I try.
We call them buttercups. The yellow flowers not the short guys
I know tripods are an old-fashioned idea. But since I’m old, I use a Wimberley gimbal head to keep long lenses steady.
This entire video I’m sitting here like: get over yourself already, just bring a freaking quick release monopod or something. The complaining is getting old 🫣
Personally, I'm done with lugging around a full-frame set-up for wildlife. G9ii + 100-400 makes much more sense, for many reasons!
Wildlife magic happens before 8am.
In my dreams?
@@cameraconspiracies ⏰🤣
Get up at 6:30’and head down there for 8 for more magic
Dig out the soil from under your foot pointing away from the thing you are aiming your big lens at. Then pump in a quick-drying concrete slurry. When this dries you should find you have much less camera shake and lens wandering, and you can take the shot.
Hope this helps.
This guy knows what's up
The algorithm has blessed me with your channel. Enjoy your humor man.
same here
Gfx + 500mm lens... It's for you, you are strong... I believe in you!!!
Polarizer when it's very sunny brings the magic back for me
I think your most "magical" wildlife footage was during your tests of the S5II/X.... There was a day at a farm... Don't give up on Panny boy.
Beautiful footage of Adam Egret!
Norm MacDonald is surely sitting with a big ole smile eating a cheese sandwich up in heaven giving you a nod of approval. You might see him if you get a teleconverter for that G master monstrosity.
If you're manually focusing anyway, TTartisan 500mm got that 3D pop and costs pennies.
wow i didn't even know that existed. may santa make *your* dreams come true
Love your videos. Cool brain, super imagination, making this world a more interesting and better place, one critique at a time. What a great sparrow btw, he had attitude 👍
I used to think birds weren't real until I watched your video
Thanks!
Hi Kasey. I suggest you flip the 200-600 's tripod foot to the other side and rest your hand directly on the lens. That will give you better control of the manual focus ring and stabilize it overall. You don't use a tripod so there is no reason to leave the foot in the default position.
Love your footage! I too struggle to get up and out of the house early enough for good photography. I got out at dawn the other day, though, and it was totally worth it.
Good point.
That's what I did before buying that tripod foot lol. The weight of the lens makes it really hard to zoom and focus.
@@cameraconspiracies I guess you need to double up on your Monkey Strength upper-body exercises then. LOL Or, use a shoulder sling (BlackRapid or Peak Design) so you don't lose strength just carrying the kit around. Just suggesting. Thanks.
@@cameraconspiracies Although I don't shoot movies/video, I've shot wildlife for twenty years. I've gone out with hundreds of different people shooting, only one person has use their camera and lens with the foot down. And that person is 6'-5" and bench presses 400 pounds. Set your zoom where you want it, and you should be able to make minor adjustments to your focus. On very rare occasions, I've used a tripod, but 99% of the time I hand hold my shots, and you should be able to also.
I used to feel the same childish excitement when going out to shoot in nature. I just came out of a long period of not seeing or feeling much when being on those trips. But I feel it's coming back now😍💚 I hope you will continue until the animals discover that you're back for good 🙏
I went back and viewed your fuji shots, and do agree, they are more appealing. However, this footage is still beautiful.
That branch is pretty sharp
What serious wildlife photographer hand holds a 600mm lens? It takes years of dedication to get the footage you see tv wildlife programs. You look fit enough to carry a small lightweight tripod. Most of your shots are mostly branches and too busy.
Nothing wrong with the Sony, grass is always greener. By the way I love your videos, always a treat.
Also for mammals I recommend some camouflage clothing, for birds it’s best to bite the bullet and get a hide tent, their eyes are to good to be fooled by camo. You can get super close to a deer in camo though.
Sometimes you can stumble across great scenes, but as you said. A really good wildlife picture is mostly logistics.
You can buy one of those attachments that goes on your zoom lens which is used for panning and it basically is a piece of metal that sticks further out. I've actually got one and I'll put some tape around it as well so it's got a bit of a grip on it it is a home-made job, but it works.
Yes, wildlife with Nikon, Panasonic, Fuji, Olympus and Kodak in that order please.
Best time to see the most bird activity is the morning until 9-10am. Unfortunately. I love photographing birds but yeah, many times I became too lazy to wake up and go out early. But sometimes late afternoon golden lights are very good too. For waterfowl photograph/filming that late hours are magical.
The Sony footage does seem to have some kind of bland/dead look to it. The Nikon footage looks alive.
Front heavy lenses are optimized for raccoon shots... For summer, I'd choose raccoon over canoon and nikoon.
I feel your pain! Noon and October thru April are tough for bird photography. But we still go out. Because we have to.
6:40 it's the bad lighting thing. No color in the shot because the branches with no leaves look dull etc. But keep going out and gathering footage, working on technique and one day your skills and perfect conditions are going to meet my brother, and you'll have the most epic shot ever!😊
Thanks for inspiring me to walk to burger king and feed french fries to chipmunks.
VP 🐦 were you lucky enough to see a Baltimore oriel yet?
You might consider emailing your images to Camera Conspiracies for tips for improvement. 🤣 FYI, it might be a long queue- hopefully, you have some pull there to jump up in the line.
I got a heron being harassed by redwing blackbirds. I want 4K 120, but I settled for upscale HD.
It's all about the light
Good thing Nikon has a bunch of super zooms. Did you have a go to Fuji film simulation for wildlife
As an avid Z9 + 800mm PF enjoyer myself, I'm really looking forward to you getting that lens.
EDIT: I had no idea you struggle with stabe on the ZF. My setup is rock solid.
You're setup is not rock solid for vlogging, only telephoto or standing still.
@@cameraconspiracies please vlog with the 800mm. I dare you
Full frame eye aids, no crop. Good times
Kasey: Using the same Sony, the same lens and expecting different outcome...? Bird walking in water at 240fps....Fuji is magical and the creatures know it. I thought you had those walking stick monopod? Always interesting and wonderful narration. Thanks for sharing! Time to buy a Panasonic Lumix S9 😆
Like your slo-mo videos of animals.
Literally all of those shots of birds would be better focused if used on a fuji in manual focus.
Problem with fuji is that they don't really have a small high quality super tele lense yet..
Id like to see sigma make a 500mm smaller in size prime on fuji like they just did on sony.
Yes! The wildlife content extravaganza is back!
Golden shower..at 12..🎉 thanks for the vid..
for topaz stab, remember to uncheck the “flicker reduction” or whatever the hell it’s called. maybe something else. jitter reduction? it complete screws up birds flapping wings if you also increase fps.
I think most people struggle to hold long lenses still. I can't do it anymore. There is a quick solution, which is to grab your right shoulder with your left hand and then cradle the lens in the bend of your left arm. That is very stable but eventually tiring. The other solution, which birders often use, is to get a lens cradle or gimbal and mount it on a tripod or monopod.
It seems you haven't meet your inner monkey strength.
What is that, if you may ask?
That's actually a secret strength training program that monkeys don’t want you to know about. You’ll heal any lingering back pain with the bridge movements, and kick arthritis in the face with the squat series. This is a full body program that will not only heal your entire body from chronic pain, but turn you into a lethal weapon of love and mystery. Monkey Strength will build strong dense muscle tissue which will be stronger pound for pound than any weight lifter, and you’ll be flexible enough to back flip your way down the street. You’ll reach your ideal body weight and develop an unassuming mystical strength that will leave people perplexed wondering how you got so strong for your size.
@@Durio_zibethinus With age, your hands become unsteady. There's nothing you can do about it.
The Ibis was ours and no AIs were harmed during the making of this 'film'. Carry On!
Do think Nikon stabe is going to shine the most with medium to long range teles, hand held photography, and not wide angle vlogging. There’s a reason they are known for wildlife and landscape images, and not so much vlogging.
In that situation where the Sony failed to find focus, I've seen a demonstration of the OM-1 being much better in this regard.
As for the footage lacking wow factor, I experience the same with my A1, yet I'm always wowed by the footage that Mark Smith captures with the same gear.
Sony didn't fail to get focus, I was in manual and it's very hard to judge when you're in 240fps because it's soft and barely any peaking.
@@cameraconspiracies I routinely have to use DMF cause my sony prefers to focus on sticks in the foreground 🤦♂
Your, as always, fantastic video , makes Sweetie & I reminisce our childhood movements when we teeter-tottered all day long eating raw meat in 1080pm at 240fps and always in soft focus because we were on detox from our super sugar smacks. 🍺
- Eric ZORK Alan & Sweetie [ 🤣Professional🤣Poets & Bed 🛏️ & Beer🍺 Vloggers ]
Do you use peaking assist for your manual focus? I do that with vintage lenses and most of the time it fine. But, I noticed with my FD28mm T2.8 that sometimes it's not quite there. So many choices..... LOL! Have a great weekend.
Hi Kasey, there are so many camera reviewers out there. How do I pick the perfect reviewers? Please could you do a comprehensive review of reviewers? I'm not talking a roasting of reviewers but a serious comparison of reviewers. Who are best for videos, who are best for photos, for lenses, who do the best technical reviews of equipment, etc etc. This will be a great service to the community. Thanks Kasey.
Color Crayon School! I love it! I have used a Fujifilm X-T2 with vintage Zeiss lenses and het better color, so you are right.
The harsh sun definitely has something to do with it.
Grenadier Pond?? Always so many interesting birds at highpark. Such a beautiful area.
Sorry that my comment it´s so serious but... one of the purposes which I´ve chosen Z system is because of balance between body and lenses. even the telescopic Z lenses are balanced. That does not exist when I mounted R6 with RF 70-200 F4 on ballhead, expanded to 200mm (which is 180mm Vs Z 70-200 2.8 😮) and end up as a Saikeirei salute 😅 almost drop the tripod lol
Birds and wildlife seems like the most expensive and difficult photography.
I don't even like animals.
I'm just here for you Casey.
“Up… where 99% of wildlife live” 😂
"Stopped it down". What does it mean--It means to make the aperture opening smaller.
Nikon 800mm on ZF, full frame video wildlife would definitely set you apart. Both for rarity and ridiculousness of setup ;)
When I was there I crept through the water like Captain Willard. I got so close that I didn’t need a zoom and used my prime 50mil f1.2. The wretched bird didn’t have a chance with his this pencil legs and pretentious stature.
Jk man, love your vids, keep them coming!
Majestic footage. Do the Nikon Zf with Animal/Car/Bird tracking doohickey turned on. Does it make a difference? Will it focus? Does it even matter because it doesn't have 240fps at 4K uncropped?!
Breakout the Canon R8 for wildlife. Stick Canon's 200-800 on there, or adapt the Sigma 150-600. Go digital stabe for a little extra reach. It should look good!
😊
...I'll see myself out...
Even though the footage may not be the greatest, don't underestimate what you can learn when things like egrets fish within your camera's reach. It will help you when the "Nat Geo" shot comes in the future.
Have you tried a monopod or a shoulder mount to counterbalance the swaying? I mean, filming handheld at 600mm is asking a bit much from Sony IBIS :)
3:57 it's simple bro.
You hold that BBO (big black object) in hand . So that you can rotate the things in lense. If there isn't BBO, lense lands in your palm and you can't rotate those things.
I said those because i don't know what are those
I just live watching you.
I would stick to Panasonic or Fuji just because a lot of people have Nikon for wildlife. It could be more fun to use a system that is used less often; there is some charm in that. Maybe Panasonic, since their autofocus is caught up. Panasonic does have 100-400 on their roadmap. Fuji has been releasing firmware updates that are improving the autofocus. Fuji managers have stated they want to focus on wildlife so that could mean some nice lenses in the distance future or nothing too. I think the future 500mm prime from Fuji might be too long with it being 750mm equivalent but may be worth the struggle.
more panasonic s9 talk please, we cant let them get away with this
this stuff is so real. i feel it.
yaeh that nikon image does look good. its worth the downsides. i think you should get the 180-600mm. if its anything like the 200-500mm for the fmount nikons, then you're probably gonna like it.
Get a compact gimbal and carbon fiber monopod for a lens that size. Trust me, it WILL make a positive difference on stable footage. FotoPro makes the E-6H that is super compact.
I really enjoyed the video footage of birds. I cast it from phone to TV.😂
Kodak CCD film emulation 😄. It takes time and patience I guess. Those birds are just chilling at that time of day. But I'm not an expert, sometimes all you have to do is f8 (tony8) and be there was a saying.
Yeah man one more great video! Just to tell u I m french, and practice my english with u....like photography stuff but not my passion....the real reason IS you re so funny. Bro you should do stand UP no?? Your french community love U ❤️
Yeah I agree; recording in the mid-day sun is almost a waste of time.
Gotta say, I'm a Sony shooter, but I am really digging the look of this Nikon
Good video.
A lot of people rotate the foot to the right side of the lens to get it out of the way if they’re handholding it or just remove it. It’s that much lighter and you can operate it easier. Or...do the unthinkable and bring along a monopod, which I also hate doing by the way. Also, do you use a shoulder strap to attach the lens to and keep it at your side between shots or video?
How long did it take to upscale to 4K 480fps in Topaz? Lately I've just cancelled the whole operation (stabilization of 4K24p from my Canon G7Xmk3), because it said "16 hours remaining" for a 15-minute clip... I don't know what kind of a CPU/GPU beast combo one needs to cut it down in half at least (so I could leave it running for the night).
Agree, most of the time Sony is just documentary, rarely get that wow magic (I've been using Sony cameras for about ten years).
Dude get the 100 to 400 ef L mark 2. Its pure magic like a stripper on a pole for christmas!
You need to get one of those nikon dslr wildlife lenses and adapt it. Maybe some of the magic of the previous owners wildlife footage will be inside
just so you know for future sightings. Thats the Lesser Whited Toe Dipper
I find that I need softer light for egrets. Midday shots always seem blown out
I'll bring a softbox next time.
@@cameraconspiraciesor just go on overcast days..theres other ways too lul
Try a mate 40 pro or better for tele magic 4 pro 240/480p vgood stabe & LUTs or log its very good up to 900mm
12:04 Canon is the answer
lol try adding metal plates to your sony as a counterbalance to the lens
Mr.Stern, got a question for ya and ill cut to the chase (Channel Related not Gear): would you suggest for youtubers to have multi channels for different types of content? (Example: vlogging channel/MMA channel /wildlife)
Thank you for the endless pleasure spreading
The vlogging style IBIS on nikon isn't great but I think you'll really like Nikon IBIS for telephotos
How many nautical miles was that bird 6:23 away ?
Have you considered buying one of Tim Shields programmes? 😂
That´s when you have used that monopod you sold, hehe!
How about shoot everything on BMpcc? 😅
All joke aside. Maybe you should try that Nikon for wildlife first. As Nikon colour is being well known in nature and wildlife photography. Then you can go back to Fuji for an aesthetic colour and feel if you prefer that way.
If you ever get to make your perfect camera and actually do it. You would find something wrong with it when you get the chance to test it 😂😂😂
You are the new voice for wildlife shows.
Lul
Yep the Sonycombo is lackluster soulless reptoid stuff, would be interesting to know why the footage looks so boring. And its shaky AF. Maybe Panaboy is the solution, Nikon is also flawed.
Have you tried renting gimbal heads?
The solution to your stability issue is OM-1.
LUCK = Labor Under Correct Knowledge
Just go out more. You have the technology!
Would Panni G9 II with 100-400 do better? In your review like a year ago it sounded like it did most things you want well, why did you give up on that?
❤I love you so much
It was the lame glimmer glass!
You're the best.
Kasey, are you asking for advice with this combo?
You need monkey strength to balance that lens pointing up. Otherwise, use what the non-hobo photographers use.
Nikon 800!
