Absolutely! Ken is finally getting some attention! Even Alan is being noticed! I haven't seen the movie yet, but I'm sure there's a sequel in the works! A whole new fan base is emerging because Barbie isn't just a doll. She's a force!🩵🩷
Its funny how Ryan didnt really consider being Ken at first but now he has fully embraced it, so much so that he is actually putting a lot of effort in spreading the Kenergy.
@@marymary20 I don't even remember what was I made for from the movie... i had to look it up online later, but Im just Ken is living in my head rent free.
It didn't, losing to a fellow Barbie song - but Ryan's singing of it at the Oscars rocked the town. More than a statuette - it won over the people viewing there and from afar.
That Cinnabon quote during the puppy interview had such Ken-ergy the likes of which I'll never forget. I can't imagine anyone better as Barbie's #2. He plays his role as naturally as Margot Robbie and is absolutely hilarious in it.
Ryan is very attractive. Not just physically, but great sense of humor. I’ve been a fan for years now. I never thought I would go see a Barbie movie without children, but here we are.
I love how much he enjoyed this role. It's contagious fun, he clearly loved every second and it's hard not to love his character for that. Honestly this whole movie looked like it was fun for everyone involved.
Ryan Gosling really should make more comedies, he has great comedic timing. I'd recommend "The Nice Guys", which is a detective caper from 2016 which is sadly underrated.
If you liked The Nice Guys you might wanna check out Kiss Kiss Bang Bang. Very similar story and vibes, but Shane Black directed that one first. Personally, I also think it’s a better movie overall.
everyone laughs at the dance scene during which Ken talks about his discomfort and pain for this unrequited love. I suddenly felt my heart tighten, because my adolescence (now long gone) was full of situations like this and the pain I felt left a deep wound in me. I reevaluated the character a lot and now I love the character of Ken.
Ryan was promoting the actual Ken storyline all along, since before he was allowed to share the plot! With his backyard Ken story and how he's always unimportant. Really good promotion.
While living in Moore, OK, I worked several Christmases in the 1980s at Toys R Us, but my funniest memory regarding Barbie happened when I was working in Toys at Walmart Christmas about 2005. We opened a carton of Malibu Barbies, and one had her bathing suit top up around her neck. We kept putting her in the front on the shelf and customers kept hiding her in the back. Finally, just before Christmas I bought that doll to be used as a dirty Santa gift for a family drawing. I think one of my nephews ended up with the doll. The only thing worse than stocking Barbie was stocking Cabbage Patch Kids. People would destroy the area everyday trying to find one with the same birthday as the child who was getting it, same hair, eye and skin color or the same name.
I’ve adored Ryan since he was promoting The Nice Guys with Crowe. That was the first time I saw him outside a film. He’s very piano, but still makes you pee yourself laughing.
The Academy shut eyes and mind to the fact of this as a truly UNIQUE film, practical effects and all - in multiple layers that keep revealing and revealing. This move will LAST, I believe.
If the Mattelverse is really going to be a thing, maybe they should start working on a Ken movie? I'd like to see if his story has anything to offer if he's the main focus!
It’s actually reveals how smart Ken and Greta are in this movie. It’s dual meaning in their interpretation so if you just think about it there is depth in each comment.
Ken supporting all the other Kens’ dreams and aspirations while teaching all the Kens how to be respectful and supportive toward their Barbies, in Barbieland AND in the real world!
People saying this movie is anti-men clearly aren’t paying attention. I know it’s been over a month but that criticism still echoes in my mind. This movie and Ryan Gosling are not CONDONING that men “stand behind Barbie (women) and be okay with it”, it’s criticizing the Barbie brand for creating that precedent. This movie is a satire seeking to find a middle ground between the social success and the social shortcomings of Barbie’s impact on culture and youth. Part of what is criticized his how men (Kens) are made as accessories to women within Barbie canon. It enforces stereotypes that women should treat their boyfriends like wallets and flout them while they pursue greatness. It’s a very easy mistake for Mattel to make in the 60s while trying to empower girls but it was still a problem, and this problem is what Ken’s whole character is meant to address. When he meets up with Barbie for the first time after learning of “patriarchy” and ecstatically declares that “men rule the world”, he feels that way because he’s long been the second class citizen in Barbie Land, not because he’s an “evil man”. There is much more nuance to the movie than people are giving it credit for here. The oppressed Kens learn of patriarchy and implement it so that they can finally get their due rights, completely destroying the presence the Barbies had in significant social areas in the process. This takeover by the Kens could reasonably be read as a cautionary tale against radical feminism; an assertion that while women need to be given more opportunities, they shouldn’t push men down the role that they were once in. But people were too busy getting upset at the mention of the concepts of feminism and patriarchy to actually think about what was being shown to them.
That is one of the best descriptions I’ve read/heard about this movie! And you’re right. I didn’t love it, but I also didn’t hate it. What I think needs to be addressed is the relationship between mothers and daughters, especially when they reach pre-teen/teen years. Honestly, that was the thing that pissed me off the most. Weak parenting and mothers taking the blame for their daughters bad behavior needs to be explored more. But I love your analysis, I’m gonna use that if you don’t mind, lol. As my dad likes to remind me, too much of a good thing is bad for you. And two wrongs don’t make a right.
Ryan is going through the same thing Austin Butler went through when he played Elvis. The difference is Austin is trying shake the Elvis persona Ryan doesn't want to let go of Ken. I just hope this doesn't mess with both of their mental states
Lol that's really not a good comparison, Ryan Gosling is a veteran actor and amazing in every role and can act in extremely varied ways. The guy who played elvis is a one note actor pretty boy who is an amateur and has no where near the acting skills Ryan Gosling has, Ryan Gosling also doesn't cling to any roles, that's why can play such vastly different characters and they all turn out amazing on screen.
Idk if you've watched his older interviews but he seems pretty much the same. He has a funny sense of humour and his energy feels the same. He just seems more outspoken this time given the theme of the movie.
I knew he was ALL about blonde Barbie. I was a skinny medium-attractive redhead and I KNEW Ken would not look at me twice, so I just threw him out - literally. BUT NOW? I LOVE Ken. Thanks Ryan.
I was listening to something about how Margot Robbie talked for more of some interview, and Ryan Renolds talked less, so this was presented as a bad side of extroversion. But there are so many studies that show that women are often seen as monopolising the conversation when they speak 30% of the time, and similar. So really it's brilliant method acting, letting people feel what it's like when women are treated the way men are in real life. I love the line at the end of the movie about how maybe men in Barbieland will get as many rights etc. as women in the real world. It seems this idea makes some men uncomfortable. Turns out it's, "go woke, have a hit movie!" Because "woke" nowadays means caring about other people, and no matter how loud the hecklers are, statistically speaking, most people actually do care about other people. I hope the rest will get bored soon, and stop complaining about dolls and M&Ms and beer and people's genitals. Join the rest of us in Normal Land. You are Kenough.
The reason people assume the movie is man hating is because the movie can’t decide if we should see the Ken’s as an allegory for how women were treated in the 50s or just dumb mysoginist incel nice guys for us to laugh at. Whenever the movie talks about female issues it’s played dead straight (America Ferrara’s speech for example) but men’s issues are portrayed as a joke (see the lyrics of Im Just Ken it’s literally an Incel anthem). Thus putting the sincerity of the whole “equal rights” message into question because the film doesn’t know if we should take the Ken’s plights for equality seriously or just see them as a bunch of toxic man babies that need to be put in their place. I don’t see that as “caring for other people”.
Considering that Ryan is “just Ken” in the Barbie movie, that would mean that his character represents “just women” in the real world. I think this is why so many women can relate to “just Ken”.
What’s so amazing is the blankness, the lack of personality, the accessory aspect, the background, the buffness, the just Ken…all of it is exactly how women are routinely portrayed in movies. I will say, I see a zillion interviews of Gosling/Ken, but not so much Robbie/Barbie.

Yes miss mojo dojo
It takes an incredibly secure man to be able to BE Ken.
He has the body to pull it off and the Kenergy is wow
Yesssssss!!!!!
I mean he is an actor after all😂
It takes an incredibly feminist indoctrinated male to represent the dirt-worthless male so righteously shunned.
🤨🧐🙈❓
This man is funny without even trying to be funny. We deserves more Ryan Gosling comedy movies
Who knows maybe the Barbie movie will bring that to him more. :)
Its funny how Ryan didnt really consider being Ken at first but now he has fully embraced it, so much so that he is actually putting a lot of effort in spreading the Kenergy.
If "I'm Just Ken!" doesn't win the Oscar for Best Original Song, there's no justice!
Its gonna be a battle between Im just Ken and Peaches and honestly, Im here for it 😂❤
Unless it’s What Was I Made For.

Salute to Ryan Gosling. Dude's just trolling everyone and he got everyone to go along with it.
Exactly. People don't seem to realize how sarcastic he is being.
i love how margot just knew ryan would be the perfect ken. thank god he accepted the job, no one would have played ken as perfectly as him!

I wasn’t thinking I’d be interested to watch Barrie but with Ryan as Ken I am considering it. Always loved Ryan and as Ken he is great.
I love how much he enjoyed this role. It's contagious fun, he clearly loved every second and it's hard not to love his character for that.
Honestly this whole movie looked like it was fun for everyone involved.
Petition to permanently change this channel's name to Miss Mojo Dojo Casa House.
Ryan gosling is already everybody's dreamboat, playing ken just made him 10x hotter
and being cool about it too!!

I loved that movie but also didn’t hear about it until a couple months ago. Definitely not an S tier movie but a good watch indeed
i hate sequels, but the nice guys definitely deserved one!!

Just watched it ❤ so good
He was also very funny in Crazy Stupid Love
First, I had no idea that Ryan Gosling was this funny. Second, I LOVED him in this movie and he truly helped to make it the best it could be.
Ryan Gosling is always impressive with portraying his characters, but this is by far my favorite one for his naturally humorous self 😍😍😂✨
I low key feel like Ryan's role in "Lars and The Real Girl" (really great underrated film btw) prepared him perfectly for playing Ken. He's brilliant.
The improvised teddy bear resuscitation scene is ❤
He is genius in this role. Very difficult to pull off something smart for this character, and he excelled
One of the most underrated actors today. His action move was fantastic. Unfortunately Hollywood did not like it. But Netflix loved it
What’s insane is this was the best performance of his career
Which one are you talking about?
@@mmmm.5161the gray man, he stars in it with Chris Evans

Ryan did a phenomenal job playing Ken! 💙🎥💯
he is the life of this movie - he is so funny and adorable. Margot barbie is so cute
He was the real star of the movie. Every scene he was in he just had that magnetic presence.
You meant to say, that KENetic energy!
I love the hilarious Kens in the movie. Ryan and the others did a great job. Love the Kennibuns idea LoL
Ryan is a national treasure.
Ryan Gosling is so awesome in every way😂❤
I was pleasantly surprised that this was really the Ken movie! He stole this whole movie!

This press tour is a method acting tour de force! He should get a special Oscar for the tour.
I’ve never really watched much of Ryan’s prior movies but I did really like him as Ken and I will be checking out more of his movies now
Imagine being a method actor to portray Ken?😆💪🏼
Dude, I would love to have a Ken in my life! Wouldn't we all? 🤟🏻👏🏻
Totally!
Love Ryan Gosling ❤
Love Ryan Gosling, he's great as Ken ❤😊!
I have never crushed out over a blonde dude until now! LOL! ❤
I wonder how the women in his life (his daughters and wife) feel about Ryan literally being a Ken Doll.
ask his daughter without her he would have never taken this role.
Ryan once said about his wife & daughters that he gets to live with angels & he has no idea how he is that lucky.
Eva thinks it's hot.
The perfect Ken 👌🏾💙
I was SUPER unconvinced about Gosling as Ken when it was announced. But I did a 180 When I saw the movie. No one else could have pulled that off.
"I ordered churros and they're coming, I swear" 🤣
He's so incredibly random
Best choice was casting him as ken!
I loved when Ryan Gosling said “I’m just Ken” and then Kenned all over the place
