Devin gently putting the chairs back up killed me XD
Holy shit, I love Dreadnought. Bridging Realms is one of my favorite albums from last year.
I was there! Opening bands needed some work, but Devin was awesome!
Dreadnought was awesome, glad they opened.
Dreadnought are awesome, totally in that same "soundscape" vibe as Devy!
Whoa I've heard of Dreadnought, they play in my town all the time!
The flute part at 3:55 was awesome, will look for their material
Ryan seems like one of the most humble brosefs out there. Good on y'all. Devin Townsend Project is best project.
Such a great show, so stoked I got to see Devin for the first time
Dreadnought were epic, favorite opening act I've seen in a while
Am I correct in assuming that they're sort of reminiscent of Kylesa? Apparently with some Jethro Tull-stuff thrown in the mix.
I have seen him around 7, or 8 times since becoming a fan in 2000, and I would like to say to you that he is getting better.
Some bands tail off as they age. Devin has in one way (aggression) but he improving in all other areas each album. (how do you improve from already perfect!?)
Devin's live shows are becoming more awe inspiring. When you see him for the 6th time, you will think the same.
You have much to look forward to! :D
Not the comparison I'd make. Very proggy (some parts remind me of Dream Theater's prime), a little black and folky stuff thrown in. Very epic and pretty unique.
Ben Williams I dunno about you but I actually hear a lot more Opeth in their sound than DT. The more I listen to their two albums the more they remind me of early Opeth, and I mean that in the best ways possible.
Zim, thanks a ton for doing these. They really are a treat. Hope to see Devin and crew tour India sometime. Big props!
LOVE the rundown on RVP's kit!
Hey!! That was a fuckin' Magma Necklace on the Dreadnought. It's a pretty awesome (though unknown, even in France) French jazz/rock band from the 70's !! Never thought I'll see one in the middle of nowhere in US !!
Great show I had so much fun that night! Love you and Dreadnought was fantastic!
I am in this so many times!!
You're famous!!
Forever immortalized on Devin's UA-cam channel :D
oh shit Dreadnought looks/sounds cool as heck
Thought so too! Lead flute in some metal? Jethro Tull would be proud lol
They're amazing, you should definitely check them out.
The drummer was so freakin good. I even saw RVP standing in the backstage watching while Dreadnought were on stage, seems like he agreed with me!
They're fantastic. I just moved out of Denver but they were easily my favorite local band by a wide stretch.
Also, Jordan (the drummer) is as amazing as people are saying on here (but to be fair all 4 of them are jaw-dropping).
He's a beast
When Ryan is talking about his kit the subtitles said "extreme crotch" when he said "extreme crash." Hahaha.
Drum & Drummer! I like it a lot!
Yeah! I was there! I'm actually in the video, but I get covered by the word "that" at the end. AWESOME concert :D
I was hoping there would be at least a mention of how many parry gripp songs there were as you all set up. lol. It was pretty awesome.
"It's a cat flushing a toilet...." 😜
Man, what would this set cost me, if I would buy it like that?! :D Awesome drumkit, sounds amazing!
I watched every days video now, jealous on that other continent... then I thought, let's check out the homepage, maybe they're coming to Europe, too... and now the only thing I can think of is, "how do I get a photopass for the munich show" ;)
I love my HHX and Tama Bubingas. The darkness overcomes! Definitely inspired my metal influence. Would love to hear some doom tracks dev!
I would like to know from Devin if he's stopped doing yoga practices during the tour, and if yoga helps him with performing, singing and staying sober. Great job Zim, this whole series is amazing!
Hey, I was just thinking. Who drives the bus(es)? Can we meet the driver(s)? I'm sure they have some great stories.
Great idea! A bus tour would be cool!
See the previous eps, the driver shows up in one of them, when they go to the stadium to watch football.
Fabio Destro I've watched every ep, but I didn't notice the driver.
It's in one of the 2 New Orleans episodes.
Crazy. I played at the gothic earlier this year.
I didn't recognize Ryan without his Evans shirt!
Ryan VP is THE MAN ... i like a lot his playing style
Staying fit is just as important...
Drum dial! Get em close fast
Hey! That's me! 5:10
I think, (although this is just my opinion) that it needs more vim, Zim.
Uuh a profile i'm so sorry Lisa! How did you cope...
Was that some Mononeon you threw in?
Yooooo, shoutout to Ford Theatre Reunion at 3:16! I'm friend's with those guys and they are an incredible band; everyone should absolutely check them out.

Backed!! The babes to rule all babes!!!
DEVOPS!!!! ahaha
Dat Flute Tho
Every snare sounds better with those heads.
Can a drummer please answer my genuine question: why the two snares? Blast beats?
Mostly to have two different snare sounds if the music demands it (like a lighter, higher snare sound for a bridge section or something).
different tone for me. sometimes for different songs w/o changing the main snare. if you have a large kit you may place a snare somewhere else so you can do some work on the opposite side of the kit and incorporate a snare but that's rare unless you have a portnoy/mangini kit lol
It's just a different sounding snare. Gives more options for creativity in writing, more diverse parts. Need that in prog metal, so many different styles being used. There could be more reasons but beyond that it's just personal preferences. Some may say a flam (hitting a drum with both sticks at once) sounds better across two snares, some may say a marching cadence works better on a different type of snare, etc. But that's just, like, their opinion, man.
Alright, thanks guys!
A great example for RVP is Supercrush.. the verses are played on a piccolo/side snare, which sounds way lighter and softer, and then he kicks into the prechorus with two massive main snare hits and the difference is night and day.
What song are they playing at 5.04?
KSE2606 Ziltoid Goes Home
@6:02....... The term is Cattywampus...... not Cali-wankis.
Fred Eichenauer its cal wankis
Hey Devin, it's my birthday today!I would love to see you respond to this.
Not Devin, but happy birthday.
Umm, I thought the word was Kattywumpus...?
Sharon Baker caliwankis
RVP is awesome and the the drums are killer...don't get the Sabian thing though. Comparatively garbage.
