From what I gather from another guy I watch, it's digging down roughly 8", leveling as good as possible, filling in 4" of crushed rock, tamping rock, leveling, and then adding sand, tamping sand, and check for leveling. Lots of work, but beautiful finish. :)
Roger is so helpful. His tips on lawns has my yard the envy of the neighborhood. I plan on doing a patio next year and I'll be watching plenty of TOH videos by Roger to help me pull it off!
You're supposed to dig down past the level of organic material. Polymeric sand is used because it makes a far better bond than regular paver sand which means zero to little maintenance.
Roger has retired and ,of course will be missed. He has let it be know that he has health issues that he wishes to keep private. I’m sure everybody wishes him well and hopes his health issues will improve. He will be missed. The young lady ,that has replaced him, knows that she has some large shoes to fill, but shows a lot of energy, personality, and knowledge. Personally, I wish her much success.
It’s tough when they keep renewing your shows! 😂 and you just keep getting older. If I had gotten a chance to host that show, they would’ve had to drag my dead body off the set to get me to leave.
They did my house with some kind and f stone and they didn’t even know what kind of stone they use and the did a crappy job and the didn’t even finish it. I was so disappointed ☹️
This HOW TO video kinda missed its mark. The key to any paver job is the base prep and materials used....this video missed presenting this information and showing it being performed/installed. Definitely NOT a This Old House Video of old. I miss the old days.
Man I love Roger. Roger you ROCK!!!
Damm! Thats a nice walkway especially with brick, it looks so straight and flat
Dang, I want to see how to get the foundation so perfect. That's the real key to any project

I don’t know why but building can be so satisfying
Elmo Calabrese ok Karen

We ♥️ you Roger! Stay strong!
How about a curved sidewalk? How often (if any) cuts are made on curve for bricks to fit correctly?
Long live to Roger.
Always good to see Roger
Wouldn't using a weed blower to remove the excess sand be better to avoid hazing?
Not many sand/aggregate brick walkways that I would trust - But this looks rock solid - Nice!
I think this was a few years ago (season 38 or 39), Roger retired.
I guess the polymer sand is sort of like a sticky bond that prevents weeds from growing in between the grooves after being soaked and dried?

Get well Roger
What's wrong with him

What brand and type of pavers are these?
Looking good Roger!!!
Why do some videos with Roger use regular sand instead of polymeric sand?
Roger is awesome
Hope you are ameliorating Roger🙏🏽🌞
Too bad Norm Abram is in his most senior years now. That master carpenter put "This Old House" on the map!
Tom Silva is actually older than Norm

Blablabla
Wish my bike was a racecar wheea😢
Read where Roger is retiring. He deserves it.
That guy laying brick with bare hands has some bark on those hands.
How thick is the sand before putting down the pavers ?.......
Don't use plastic edging, use a poured curb or curb stone. Everything else is on point. RIP Rodger.
Roger that!
Wtat is the price of the m2
Just noticed that none of your uploads in the past month have been showing in my subscription feed. Might want to look into that.
Roger looks a little bit under the weather

faster should equate to cheaper for the customer yeah? #sarcasm
It’s a con to get you to buy their products
Would TOH Team Please Explain to me Why They Elect NEVER to Wear Kneepads on such Occupational Hazards???
Lmfaooooo
So how I’m supposed to learn or follow any instructions?? Man you tube it’s useless now
NEVER lay pavers on sand! Ants and roots will love it. Always lay them in 1-4mm grit!
@Jacko goes wacko for smackos Have fun with your ants ...
@PragaMaterUrbium No I mean millimeters! 0-32mm goes under the 1-4mm in a 30cm layer! Thats's what they call pack over there.
