I turn 54 in a week. I hiked 9.4 miles yesterday with 33#. Have not done that in 25 yrs. You have inspired me, sir!!
“Because that’s what i like to do” should be a t shirt
Right on... I’d buy that t-shirt 😊👍
I agree
I give it two weeks
Yes!! Imagine a grey beanie with orange lettering across the brim “BECAUSE THAT’S WHAT I LIKE TO DO 🏔.”
Sitting in my college dorm room quarantining, this video really makes me miss the outdoors. Much love from Rhode Island!
The students in our universities in England are doing the same. Xxxx
Sitting in an off-grid cabin quarantining. Twelve days to go.
Yay! I’m so glad you enjoyed our trail magic! It was a surprise and a delight to meet you! My daughter was so thrilled!
Well...that is one heck of a first two days. Wow. Thanks for taking us along.
Great video, Darwin. Your enthusiasm for trail life is infectious. Thank you for all your hard work.
O the memories, I love your footage because every shot, I not only get to watch you hike your own hike, but it reminds me of mine too
Awesome start Darwin!!! Thanks for bringing us along on the trail!!
Happy Birthday, Brother. Greatly appreciate the effort, quality, and work you put into sharing with the rest of us. It 'matters' to me. Thank you!!
Happy Birthday Darwin. The years fly by, enjoy today
I can’t get over the quality of the trails you hike - they’re bloody super-highways! I was always amazed at tales of US hikers doing 20 miles a day. A good day in the hills here in NZ would be 10km, it now makes sense, no calf deep mud or walking up wild rivers for four hours...
That sound pretty cool though
Years ago I was sent on a trip up the Styx River and down the Arahura River by a local when I was in NZ. He told me it would be "a walk in the park." I did not pick up on his sarcasm, or maybe he really did think it was a walk in the park. Needless to say that trip put me through the wringer!
So happy to see you out there!! Love watching the trek
Happy early birthday Darwin! What a great way to spend it, thanks for the content.
Ahh thank you for sharing. That last part just made me reminisce what it’s like to end long day on the trails.
Thank you for this video! I love watching your videos in your natural environment. Hope you are well. 😃
Oh man love the vid! Been excited and waiting for this for a long time. Again, the way you capture the beauty of the trail really does it justice. Excellent video my dude.
Yesss new trail videos! Too short though haha! Can't wait for the next one
Footage is looking super crisp as well Darwin!
Happy Birthday. No better place than on the trail to celebrate.
Glad to see your videos again your videos are what started me on my life on the road. I am working and traveling living in a TC...Became a minimalist and haven’t looked back...Hike as much as possible on my time off...THANK YOU
Welcome back Darwin. Really enjoy your videos!!
Loved it! Looking forward to the rest of your CT videos and reliving the trail!
Happy Birthday young man. Liked the style of this video. Keep hiking! " You don't get yesterday back & you can't buy a minute!"
Happy birthday Darwin and happy trails!
Wow! Don't know whether to be more impressed with 51 miles on the first two days or the fact that you condensed all that footage into just 8 minutes of (awesome) video. I'm learning lots about editing from you while also enjoying your adventures! Thanks and belated happy birthday!
Cannot wait to see the rest of this series!!
Love this! Beautiful videography and editing to keep inspiring me to get out more!
Great to see you back on the trail doing videos! I am East Coast but travel out there for work and love that trail, area, and vibe. Enjoy.
Quality work. Excited to follow along on another adventure.
I love your trail videos!!! Thanks Darwin.
These are the types of videos that got me backpacking. I really hope you know that a lot of people really do prefer your adventures over your reviews and tutorials! We all need to remember nature over gear as a general rule!! Well done!
Really stepping up the editing here! Loved the content, can't wait for episode 2!
Happy Birthday! good to see you again.
I'm 62, hiked 2,500 miles in 1988 (mainly small roads, some trails), and now that I'm retired in Colorado I'm planning to do a CT thru hike next year. (I spent several days on Segments 24 and 25 this summer and, WOW!) I have learned so much from your videos. I know you don't get rich doing what you're doing, and appreciate your taking the time to share your knowledge with the rest of us. In 1988 my pack weighed 60 pounds. I hope that in 2021 it'll weigh about 11-12 pounds base weight. (I do have some luxuries, and I can't afford to buy the ultra-ultralight gear.) PS: No way I'll be doing 27 and 25 miles my first two days, so I anticipate I'll be carrying a lot more water than you did!
11 to 12 bw costs money. I'm at 14 and have spent about 1,500.00 US
@@jkgkjgkijk You know, you're absolutely right - no way I'll get to 11-12. 15-16 is a more reasonable target - and that doesn't include my telephoto camera.
Rolfdenver, have you tried the CT yet?
This is good stuff!! I’m 45 years old and we are doing the trail in segments until we complete it. Starting at Breckenridge this year. It’s amazing your 1st episode brought got me fired back up for this summer
Good to go Sir. Thank you for all that you share
Happy Birthday Darwin. Love the channel.
I can't wait to see the video with that big weather system that rolled in. I'll bet it was beautiful out there!
Happy Birthday( Gelukkige Verjaardag) Darwin, and happy healty trails!!!
The birch forest...wonderful! Thank you!
Happy belated. What a great way to celebrate a birthday!
Omg the video quality is amazing love your videos...happy belated birthday 🎂....Keep up the great work!
So cool to see you hiking through my home state! Enjoy the trip!
Another great video Darwin. I bought your documentary from Vimeo and was really inspired - thank you for your efforts
Awesome! Super cool to see you making tracks thru the wilderness again. Reminds me of your PCT videos but stepped up a notch. I tried your old-school cold-soaked couscous meal plan for my Buffalo National River hike. I have cold couscous PTSD now. The stuff you made in this video sounds a lot better. 👍🏼👍🏼
What a nice film! Great editing, lovely nature...calm and enjoyabele to watch 🌹 🌞
awesome video Darwin. Colorado trail is absolutely beautiful. happy belated birthday
Absolutely mesmerizing video! You're editing skills are really fantastic.
Happy Birthday great way to enjoy your day! Friends and hicking ❤️
Happy belated birthday 🎂
Great start
The evolution continues
Darwin your video wizardry is amazing. Awesome video!
This looks incredible! Great editing ☺️
Back on the Stove...good for you...happy trails D
Love it. You've really stepped up your video quality, looks great
I ran into you on your second day on the trail. It was really nice to meet you. Hope the rest of your hike was great!
A very belated happy birthday. This is the video series I've been waiting for.
I always tell people when they get here that it's great they are visiting but be prepared to stay. If you need real estate guides or a realtor, just let me know.
Probably by the time you get this it will be your birthday. Just wanted to wish you a Happy Birthday and I hope that it was fantastic. Thanks for taking all of the time and effort in to taking us on your journeys. I have been following your UA-cam since you hiked the Appalachian Trail. I have a little more than 800 miles on the AT and had to come off. I hope to finish up next year. Then onto the PCT. Stay safe and healthy. God bless. Oh, I'm a young 68. LOL LOL
Have you ever counted how many extra miles you have done to go back and get the camera? I'm thankful for it, makes the videos great
I was thinking the same thing. Lol.
WOW I just finished watching Kara and Nate's videos of Nate biking the CT now you are going to hike it! Looking forward to the videos of this series :)
Wow! You make such great film man. I'm watching your new film tonight (Through the Great Southwest). I really enjoy these overviews of your hikes. Thank you
I completed a 2018 CT Thru hike and loved almost every single step haha.
Happy belated Bday Darwin. 51 miles first 2 days is nuts.
Happy Birthday Darwin
Sr. Happy birthday to you.....😂late😂...... ,thank you for inspiring me to go outside and see the beautiful things in the forest, and to be able to find myself. you are a great human being at some point we will meet. God bless you always.
The relaxed atmosphere reminded me of your PCT videos, this one better has 21 episodes too, lol! Great stuff!
Nice to see you out on trail again. Cheers from LA.
Well Happy Birthday belated!
Just did that lil section from Kenosha pass to North Terminus about a month ago.. such a nice cruise, especially Lost Creek. Keep on keepin on man, the videography skills are on point!
I like the grading here. It's not over-saturated and high contrast like a lot of videos (and thumbnails of videos)
Yay! Awesome video.
Well done, Darwin. Wish I were there.
Always impressive to see someone pull 20+ miles a day and STILL make time to video the trip. I struggle with the motivation to do it on a 10 mile day on a single overnighter.
I'm right behind you coming up on 63. I still enjoy hiking and backpacking more than ever. Good advice from anime's dad. I was once told the secret was to (Breath as long as you can)
Not that I know the art form, but some pretty creative shots in this one. This is your best "hike-along" vid thus far!
I grew up very close to Waterton Canyon and we used to go out there all the time when I was growing up, so I was absurdly excited to see Darwin standing next to the sign in the video. I used to look at the Colorado Trail sign there when I was in college (I was into birding then and the area in and just outside the entrance to the Canyon is fantastic for birds) and wonder what it would be like to hike all the way to Durango. Now that I've started backpacking myself, who knows, maybe someday... Looking forward to the rest of these videos!
Darwin, you said a section was boring, it’s looks so breath taking!!! But you’ve been to so many, are they all starting to look alike?? You still Rock in my book!!
Great video! I hadn't planned on hiking the CT again, but now I'm feeling the call lol.
Happy Birthday dude! Mine is today!
Loving this from Florida
50 miles in two days. You are an animal!
Starting to see your trail videos to Darwin, you are very good at filming and editing. And of course you seem like a cool dude :) Cheers again from Norway
i'm liking this beat
I went on my first long-ish distance (30 miles) hike on my B-day last week. Great way to spend the day! Definitely gave me the bug to do more long hiking trips.
You are in my neck of the woods.... have section hiked quite a few parts of this trail...it's BEAUTIFUL!!!
Great video with beautiful landscape !
Glad you enjoyed it 🤙
Wow man, the quality of this video is crazy! great cinematography and transitions, idk if you color grade but it looks great. Keep up the awesome work!
Darwin....Great footage of scenery..I liked the way your Uinta Highline was the whole trail...I think you should continue doing your full hikes, and then putting together the video...Perhaps there is value in you focusing on the hike and then reflecting on how you edit it all together to share? Really appreciate you sharing any of it...and Happy Birthday!
Happy trails Darwin, greetings from the Belgian Ardennes! Yves.
Happy birthdag, enjoy the walk and days with friends
So, uh, Darwin... what kind of shoes are you wearing?! I kid. 🧟♂️🤪 Great editing here. You keep getting better and better.
😉🔥❤️
51 miles in two days !!! That 26 miles you did in one day took me two and a half days!
You look extra happy. 👌🏻👌🏻
I like that editing technique where your narration from one clip extends into another clip and back. I need to learn how to do that. Great job!
I have just been wondering that same thing also.
Happy birthday 🎉🎊🎂🎉
I hope you have a wonderful birthday... maybe some fab pizza and frosty beer. As always, I enjoyed your beautiful video..
Nice..Looking Good..Darwin
Looks like a good walk
Happy birthday, Darwin. Your birthday is the day before mine.
Looks amazing! Was actually just at Waterton Canyon Recreation Area a few weeks ago. Cool to see somewhere I have been in one of your videos.
Happy birthday!
