- Being only about 3 days worth of laundromat money, this is the most I've made in a short time period thus far. No updates on the kid who keeps getting $$$ out of quarter pusher.

He had it in the month review. Unfortunately the utilities are combined with the apartments upstairs so can't really tell how much the laundromat uses itself. He could look back through the bill history before operating the laundromat to get a quasi-baseline usage I suppose.
If you listen to others in the laundry business it averages out to 25% for all utilities. If you have newer machines, possibly less. If older machines more

@@obstinatejack that's hard to say. Depends on the rent and revenue (also factor in if you own the building). Utilities are a variable expense and goes up as your business grows. Rent is a fixed expense, the more you make the rent does not change.

I'd put a sign up saying that if you put money in a machine that has an out of order sign that you will not be refunded. That'll stop the refunds too
I haven't noticed any signs about not dyeing clothes in the washers.
That could add a whole load of agro for the next person if there was dye residue left!

sorry stupid question , why bother counting the quarters, just collect the bills and dump the quarters in the change machine, every quarter year do a mass count and take out your operating change put it back in the machine and cash in the profit of excess quarters. save you time. Your probably running around a 15-30% float on quarters to account on what people bring in.
I took my jar full of change to the coinstar machine and had a blast dumping it in the hopper and feeding then in the counter. It rejected 3 quarters so I looked at them a little closer and noticed 2 were Canadian and the 3rd was a 1964 silver one! I ended up with $112 and had it put on an Amazon gift card so they didn't take 12% of my money just for counting it.

Question? If people are trading in dollar bills for quarters and THEN putting those quarters in the machines aren't you counting the same money twice? If you are putting the quarters back into the machine should then be subtracted from the bills collected?
I kind of calculate the difference, I've explained it before, maybe I need to just do in every video for those who haven't seen prior

That's a tough market you're in. Are you at all worried the town will die? Besides the mill, and one truck manufacturer, a hospital, the jobs are all retail and fast food
45ish minutes to Columbus which has one of the lowest unemployment rates in the nation. I could see the mill imploding, but the truck company + hospital together? If that happened it'll be mad max times anyway nationwide.

You can’t count the money collected from the coin changer cause it’s coins going back into the machine so your counting it twice
Eh - you have to do some reconciling. It's possible that people get change and don't spend it all in the laundromat.
I would totally account for that in the opposite way - that is, only count the bills, never count the quarters. Just collect the quarters, put them back in the coin changer, and count and deposit the paper money. In a cash business, it’s really about the cash deposits. The quarters are almost like “tokens”, and just get used and reused.

Hey there. For the change machine, just zip-tie those large black wires to the back of the machine and place in a plastic box like 6" X 10" X 12". Actually get 2 boxes, so you can switch them for quick change-out and no dropped money.

If you bring LPL (Lock Picking Lawyer) in you can say R.I.P. to your profits. That man will make your locks look like a hot knife through warm butter and everyone else will then know how to pick them.
Sounds fine BUT, you need to vary your routine or not flim what you carry the money in. Be wary of people following you, across the street or on the way to the bank. Speaking from experience here. When people know there is cash in a place at a time they get tempted. People do commit felonies and take lives for surprisingly trivial amounts of money.
I've noticed in future videos that your business gradually picks up and you seem to have more customers using the laundromat. I'm sure it's from you cleaning everything up like the dryer lint and making an effort to keep the smaller washing machines fixed/ parts on order. Also that pump for the big machine, hope you got the part. Later, it seems to work out smoother. You've done a good job with it's upkeep and that's the key. Now if you can keep the vandals and crackheads who are looking small change to keep up their habits, you'll be okay. Children can be rough on a place and the pennies probably come from them most likely. Now I don't know how the Coronavirus is going to effect your business but it's possible. Hope not though. Hey Investment Joy, he could possible be unscrewing a Panel of some sort to get into it or maybe pick-locking it. Check to see if theres tamered screws, lock, and panels.

IT sure is fun to count the money, but how about the expenses? What do you have to set aside for power, water, cleaning and servicing? By now, you have the data to calculate how much power and water each machine uses, plus the average expenses to keep up the space.

Just take the coins to the bank for deposit, and their machine will accurately count them. Just show us the deposit slips!

At 4:53, the very last washer you collected from, you may want to check those areas for quarters as well. I believe I see a quarter in there. You always mention how excited you are to see rogue quarters in the dryers so I thought you should know you have rogue quarters in the washer coins collector areas too. :) Love these videos. Shouldn't you not count the bills from the change machine. It doesn't actually generate revenue because it gives out exactly as much money as it takes in.
Change the locks, duh. No one can reproduce a key from video! You need the key or a wax imprint!
Do you ever search them to see if there is silver? I heard that 1964 and prior are worth 3.50 each because of the silver content
You should think about checking in to what it would take to make all the machines take credits, like an arcade game with a rechargeable card, then you only have to deal with the money in the machine that reloads it and people will load more than they are using, giving you the money sooner.. It's something that I've thought about, I don't know if it's a good idea or not truly :)
1) if you move the coin counter closer to the edge of the table you will be able to position a duck tape and cardboard chute into another bucket to catch the rejected coins.. 2) once you have a chute for the rejects you can size sort them into their respective buckets so you can get a clean sorting in a single run.. 3) consider 2nd head or body mounted camera to help speed up your count/collect operations.
Why are you counting Bill's from the change machine? You are counting all that income twice since you have to fill the quarters and then you are counting the quarters again in the machines. Also, some quarters may not even be going into your machine. For an accurate count the money in the change machine shouldn't be counted as it is just a way of converting currency and not an actual income source.
If you’ve ever seen a stripper drop down and sit on a stack of quarters, you would want to wear gloves right away. If not, wash your damn hands afterwards.
Checkout YI cameras and put it near the coin pusher. I use their dome camera because I can watch my employees during the day and spin the camera to my inventory at night. You can setup motion alerts for zones and also theres a 2 way intercom. Granted youd have to watch when the alerts even they come across your phone.
When all else fails beat the crap out of your technology lol
Hey I actually don't recommend the ATM be right next to the entrance. Let alone against two large plains of glass. I worked at a movie theater and they had their ATM real close to the door and it was stolen with major damages to a door and the side window.
you cant count your washer/dryer money as income as most of it maybe came from your change machine . count your dollars in the changer,put that amount in the coin hopper and the rest can be counted as income or money "brought int" the place!!!

We need to get a towel . And then when you put the quarters down put them in the towel and rub the towel on the the quarters too clean the crap off the coins so the sticky stuff is on the towel and doesn't go into the machine the coin counter

You should buy a coin scale. It’s very easy to use. You can just pour the coin in there it it will tell you how much money you earn.
With the dryers, somr\e will run hotter and people will learn what ones they are and use them, from experience years ago

you should list the costs whenever you count the quarters/dollars for that specific category for the days they where used in until collect day, like with vending, the money spent on snacks/drinks and the money earned and/or electricity/water for those days etc. So that we get to see if you made profit or lost money.
Sp3cial1st at least quarterly when he needs to do his tax payments. I think he needs to to leave the money from the coin-changer out of the mix since it's literally a 1 for 1 exchange and not money is earned

@@robertromero8094 I believe he's talking the bill breaker. And nice way to go all asshole instantly. And to answer the question, bill breakers usually do not "Make Money". Most of the change from bills broken get used at the location they are broken at.
