I remember when I watched this live I was in tears. For all his antics post-skating career, nobody can take away from Johnny Weir that he was one of the most beautiful, artistic & mesmerizing figure skaters of his era.
Quite simply one of the most beautiful skaters of any gender. Truly the John Curry of his generation. Alas, Mr. Weir skated in an era that rewarded jumps over stroking, velvety edging & pure emotion. Had he skated even a decade or so earlier, he'd surely be one of the top skaters of that time.
+Elaine Snow So true; I was a ballerina for several years and Johnny's lyricism, gorgeous lines and extension are exquisite. He is my favorite figure skater of all time - so technically clean, brilliant and beautifully expressive. The winged motion of the arms at the end? Gorgeous.
Elaine Snow ;-) I remember my Russian teacher showing us how Plisetskaya created her beautifully supple "swan wings." It is very difficult to create that effect -- and Johnny does it perfectly. His intelligence conveys to his skating and he has amazing musicality. Definitely one of the most balletic male skaters of all time and so beautiful to watch.
So beautiful. Johnny, you were born to skate, and no matter what anyone says, know you have many fans who love you. Your performances have made me cry so many times.
I always enjoyed Jknny Weir performances on ice. He didn't just skage....he had ballet type story to tell.....and his costumes sometimes were unbelievable . I miss the American skaters of the past.... I can watch them again on you tube. Thamk you for posting this beautiful performance by Jonny . ⛸ 💐 ⛸
It's a total shame the scores they gave him ate the Vancouver Olympic Games :/ He skated so beautifully and flawlessly... It's definitely disgusting to see that judges now only give high scores to jump machines and overlook pure brilliantism and artistry. Now Johnny is ending his career without an Olympic medal and when he's gone, all fabulousness will be lost on the ice.
I miss seeing Johnny skate. His lines, his flexibility, in addition to powerful jumps that he made look easy. His artistry was simply breathtaking. You don't have to have an Olympic medal to be a champion, but he certainly deserved to be on the podium in 2006 and 2010 in my opinion.
I love watching him skate and I enjoy listening to him as an announcer for skaters. Some of the announcers (former skaters most of them) can only criticize, he is very kind and generous with his praise. He is very knowledgeable and is good at sharing his skating wisdom. Just love him!
Watching this in 2022 Beijing Olympics - kamila from the ROC doping. Means nothing compared to watching a beautifully skilled, artistic skater who’s clean, skate for his country.
I love Johnny. I adore everything about him...his skating, his personality, the fact that he's cute helps that along too! YOU DID GREAT TONIGHT JOHNNY!
These spins are some of the most beautiful I've ever seen. Such a memorable skate, I'll never forget it. Weir reminds us of the artistry that is possible in this sport. He is a diva! xD
I love Johnny Weir. Just watched this again and did see it live as well. Yes, it brings tears still. The music, the artistry, the choreography, the costume, the execution was damn near flawless. He is also the very best at breaking down the skaters performance as an informative commentator...even better than Dick Buttons. His commentary is so intelligent in all aspects of the skate. He is the creme de la creme in the skating world.
Viktor Nikiforov's outfit in that flashback podium scene really does look like Johnny's one in this performance! I can see a lot of inspiration for the anime coming from this incredibly talented man!
Watching it in 2016 because Yuzuru Hanyu is skating this song (with vocal) for his gala. I love everything of this programme - the costume, the interpretation, the spin, the jump etc... A graceful and breathtaking programme!
84girasole johnny weir is my favorite skater i support him for all my life i amazing anything that him decide to do ,but i adore him when skatting i arreved to cry for emotion cause i love johnny so much ,the media are bad with him ,johnnyis fragile and sensitive like person because him is true ,really and sentive to problem of discrimination and people not true clean i don 't like but yuours fans appreciate this quality and love him a lot love johnny thak yuo for watcing yuo
No matter what the Olympic result were and no matter what SOI says, Johnny is the most unforgettable skater out there and is head and shoulders above anyone else. He will be around long after anybody else who medaled.
Oh my god, I remember watching this on TV! I can't believe its already been four years since Torino! I can't wait to meet him at the Vancouver Olympics!!!
I used to not be a fan of Johnny Weir, but after seeing how badly he was treated at the Olympics, I actually find him quite an amazing skater. He should have gotten the bronze, most definitely.
Johnny is more "masculine" than many...not just because he's in touch with his " feminine" side but because he's not afraid to explore what it is to be "human". BRAVO, Johnny!
thank you @RothdeMan. I wanted to know the name of this man. In the videos I has been able to see, he always compliment johnny so much. He always emphasize the cuality he has skating. Once he said he is "athletically graceful beyond belive". I think it is the perfect definition for Johnny. So many people think he is too much artistic. Come on!! He is as much athletic as artistic. He achieve the perfection in that precise point. That's why he should have one million thousand gold medals!
It breaks my heart that Johnny was so underscored in the 2010 Olympics. :\ The crowd booed for both his SP and LP scores, and he was the only skater to get a standing ovation. PS: Johnny Weir has not been invited to the Stars on Ice tour (the only figure skating tour in the U.S.) because they deemed him "not family-friendly." Tours are very important for skaters to earn a living. If you guys haven't signed the "include Johnny Weir" petition going around, please do so and spread the petition!
STILL LOVE THIS WONDERFUL PERFORMANCE!! ALL THESE YEARS LATER!
I remember when I watched this live I was in tears.
For all his antics post-skating career, nobody can take away from Johnny Weir that he was one of the most beautiful, artistic & mesmerizing figure skaters of his era.
Or any era. Period.
In tears watching now.
You are 💯💢💥 right!!!🙂🙃😉😍👍
...I Just had so much fun watching him skate, I love his comments too.

+Tia Mia absolutely. Interesting perspective from a ballerina who I am sure knows all about grace!

+Tia Mia wow. Thanks for the info. I think Johnny, John Curry & Paul Wylie are the most beautiful male skaters of all time.
Yes, all my favorites. Brian Boitano and Brian Orser also.
That was so fluid!!!! Beautiful

He's an artist, as well as an astounding athlete.
i love you Johnny.
Thanks for all your gorgeous performances.
Never before or since has a skater brought tears to my eyes. Bravo!!

Incredibly beautiful! There's so much soul in his performance.
Excellent beautiful performance.

He had not any medal? I am from Russia, but i keen on his scating

BEAUTIFUL short program!! 😸
We're Weir, we're here, get used to it. What a gift to the skating world. I stan.
he is exceptionally graceful, what a beautiful performance.
Loved how he paid homage to the classic moments of Swan Lake.
Tears. So beautiful Johnny. You have always been a favorite of mine. I'm so glad you do skating commentary with Tara.
Beautiful skating to a beautiful musical piece!

The most beautiful ice skating I've ever seen. I was moved to tears the first time I watched it and still do when I watch it again and again.
He nailed this!!! Beautifully done!!!
I do not like Yuzuru Hanyu. Yes, he is now a champion ....
I don't care if you like Yuzuru or not. Just saying Johnny Weir is his idol and I admire Johnny a lot.
& he just did it again for the 2018 Gala.
the slow fall into the sit spin matches the music so perfectly - its somber quality and fluidly elegant sound
Fantastic! Very beautiful :)
Peaceful/Beautiful
Beautiful, so graceful !
Truly a breath of fresh air!
Everybody loves Johnny.
He is everybody's darling.
Johnny was mesmerizing to watch. So beautiful and artistic!

Johnny Weir: biggest talent of the past 30 years in figure skating
same here!
I remember watching this 4 years ago. It was magic, was the moment I fell in love with him and his skating
Ah! Amazing! I love you Johnny!!!
Gorgeous outfit and skating.
Johnny weir is TOO good, that is why the media is not accepting him, just like everything else. :)
very smooth, graceful, and marvelous performance by Swan Prince^^ Thank you very much for posting & sharing^^
We remember this- such amazing skating!
Love it!
best SP I've ever seen
Johnny Weir is simply the best and most artistic figure skater EVER..!
And he is still skating to The Swan and is just as beautiful and graceful at age 33. He is mesmerizing to watch ❤
Absolutely beautiful.I love his style.

Johnny Weir was MADE for THIS! His grace, elegance, & poise reminds me of that of Nancy Kerrigan! 🇺🇸⛸💖💖💖💖🏳️🌈 A true beauty on the ice!
omg HE's the best!!
Simply awesome!!
Bravo!!! 👏👏👏🌹🌹🌹❤️❤️❤️⛸
I remember this so well…. Beautiful choreography
Such a beautiful performance!
No matter what the Olympic result were and no matter what SOI says, Johnny is the most unforgettable skater out there and is head and shoulders above anyone else. He will be around long after anybody else who medaled.
This just makes me cry every time I watch it.
Love him....if you don't then something is wrong with you
Oh my god, I remember watching this on TV!
Breathtakingly.
i LOVE johnny weir... the commentator is right, he's so fluid in the knees! i always tense up in competitions. great performance. wow.
Such an amazing skater.
Johnny is more "masculine" than many...not just because he's in touch with his " feminine" side
but because he's not afraid to explore what it is to be "human". BRAVO, Johnny!
He's a lot more than "in touch," he's aggressively effeminate.
he and alissa czisny both used this for SP and dr. zhivago for LP haha. his hand movements are so gentle.
Lovely
thank you @RothdeMan. I wanted to know the name of this man. In the videos I has been able to see, he always compliment johnny so much. He always emphasize the cuality he has skating.

Is it sad I remember this program? I watched this when I was 8 haha. He was so inspiring.
If you guys haven't signed the "include Johnny Weir" petition going around, please do so and spread the petition!
... no Wonder I was missing him in these tours. Too bad for this so call Stars in Ice. It should had been called "The missing Star in Ice".
he should have had his own Olympic championship
! Breathless! Beyond the words! Be happy darling!
Unique ♥️♥️♥️
So? Seriously. I don't care whether he is or he isn't. I still love him regardless.
Excellence💖
Exquisite! 🌹❤️
Absolutely magnificent...❤️🇷🇺
Whoops! I should have come across this back then. He’s sturdy, stout, and the most aesthetically-pleasing of them all.
Beautiful skate and medley worthy. He was a joy to watch skating, but I can not say the same for his current role as a skating commentator.
