Dear Nancy, this is your best and most useful video yet! I have always struggled to define my style, particularly now that I'm retired. After watching the video and printing out the list, I've realized my words are: casual (assuming comfortable, too), creative, earthy and simple. I went through my closet yesterday and pulled out all the items that don't fit the list. I am so happy! I even ordered a new pair of shoes and a sweater to celebrate ... and they match my criteria. Thank you for clarifying a lifetime of fashion confusion for me! Loved this.
Holly, I struggled for years in retirement to find my style, any major change in life can be a bummer! So glad you are starting to find yourself, fortunately there are people out there, like on these videos, who can help. A big step forward was realising that I might want a style, but if it doesn't work for my lifestyle, theres just no point, so choice something else, we have to buy our clothes for the life we live.
As someone who grew up in Boston, MA with time on Cape Cod now spending time in Tampa, FL area I've done Coastal Grandma most of my life. Someone branded my style words...lol. Fantastic video
I think it would be interesting to have someone look at that list and pick those 3 to 5 words to describe what they think you look like or your style might be. And then also do it yourself of course.
Hello Nancy, this is a wonderful video, very basic, grounding and foundational. I'm 73 and would call my style classic, coordinated, and with a touch of flair
I have been looking almost exclusively at current events and frugal living videos. My style of dress reflected these interests. It's been very therapeutic for me to expand my views on style thereby enlarging my views of myself.
Hi Nancy, Great video. I love Stevie Nicks. I have loved Fleetwood Mac since I was about 18 years old. I'm now 55! I'm off to work through the words on the list, I'm really going to struggle to get it down to 3! Just a point. A white background on the printable would be more useful than the pale pink (saves on printer ink!). Thank you.
really love your videos and your preppy style! i find it so hard to pick just 3 words. i know what i like for clothes but it's not cohesive ranging from preppy to rock & roll to outdoorsy sporty to colorful to punk to nautical haha
Oh I love Stevie. And have always liked funky unusual stuff! I am a sort of smart chic casual with a touch of boho! And I have booties in every colour. A shoe nut!
So I gave my husband the words & ask him to choose, he said pulled together ladylike & unique. That was very helpful I haven’t decided on the exact three yet but I can relate to what he chose.
Love this ( and all your videos) I love Martha Stewart’s style. I can appreciate and love lots of color like your style but don’t want that for myself. I have always been classic. My description for myself is Tasteful, appropriate and Flattering. Love all the photos shown and enjoyed this video very much
Very interesting and entertaining to be shown the style of those outstanding celebrities... I re-detected Diane Keaton. She is incredible. If I have the courage, I will try parts of her look. I would love it... So, eventually: Thank you so much for this great video! Greetings from Germany
My current style (I'm 67), is French chic/coastal grandma, effortless, menswear-inspired, with a touch of rebel/hippie/creative! I loved the breaking down of these celebrities' styles, and I want another one!! Personally, I am inspired by the personal day wear of old Hollywood stars like Marlene Dietrich, Audrey Hepburn, Katherine Hepburn and Lauren Bacall!
I love your videos! I am afraid I want to be classic and chic, but I don't really dress like that. My style of dress changes with my size😳 If I feel good about my size, my style is a bit more fitted and colorful.. I love color. When I don''t feel as good about my size, my clothes are much more oversize and less colorful. Yuck!
I just discovered your channel and am loving your content! This video is so fun. I love picking out my style key words. I admire Joanna Gaines style and my key words are Earthy, Natural, Soft and Classic💗
I'm so glad you discovered me! Thanks for sharing your style words...you know, I think they are the same words I'd use to describe Joanna Gaines style, too. 😍
Oh I had to really think on that question. 1. Flowy & relaxed 2. Casual 3. Slightly romantic 4. Timeless 🤔 I'm not sure if that equals a style but that is what describes me. Not so much my clothes, but that's why I'm here.
Nancy, I don't know if you read your older posts but I also agree with the previous comments, however my dilemma is that I feel classic chic at work and dressing up for special occasions but when it comes to casual, I look like a slob -as I go for comfort. I would love to combine CLASSIC, CHIC with COMFORTABLE / RELAXED - Help!
Yes! I read all the comments! 😍I love that you have a classic chic style and it's easy to continue it in the casual and relaxed parts of your life. I think you might enjoy this video: ua-cam.com/video/tj2EF0CDzX8/v-deo.html
Oooof, this gave me some existential angst, since the clothes I like on others usually look entirely wrong on 61-yr-old dramatic-classic INTJ me. But I've come up with *chic/playful/tomboy*. I find 'playful' a challenge to put into actual clothes (and life), so really all I have is chic-tomboy (i.e.rather dull). I'll create a pinterest board of 'playful' to see what that consists of. Thank you for this, it was very useful and well thought out. If by chance you want to explore what chic/playful/tomboy looks like, well....
I love your style words and I truly believe you should stick with them. Perhaps with playful you are going to young with the look and that is throwing you off. You don't have to be juvenile to be playful - instead think of it as whimsical offering a hit of fun and whimsy to your outfit instead of the traditional childlike playful. Keep me posted! 😀
Right now I use simple - cozy - classic, but I'm becoming more and more monochromatic. I will definitely print out your list and who knows? I may change my words! My style icon is Kate Middleton, even though she's a lot younger than I am. I would happily take everything in her closet. But unfortunately she never seems to be on too many lists. 🍁🌿💙
Thank you Nancy, That concept of choosing 3 words to describe our style is very clever psychologically. Looking at the clothes we have in our wardrobe that we love the best and putting 3 describing words with them really will make shopping for clothes easy, fun without wasting money. GOOD ONE NANCY 👍😘 Thanks, Jennifer from down under 🦘
I sm watching from the UK and have no idea who Martha Stewart is! However, agree with your style groups and by coincidence these are also the same ones used in a book I have just read - Get Changed, by Kat Farmer, probably available on Amazon throughout most of the world, but essentially a lot of the same information as you give. I think your body shape and lifestyle also influence which style you go for. I am an hourglass, but at 68 in the countryside, I can't wear a slinky dress all the time, even if wanted to! I have gone a bit more classic with age, but then mess it up with accessories that are more trendy, as I like to be feminine, but also a bit rebellious too!
A few months ago I started thinking about, what is my style, and this is a perfect video to help me find the words . I'm going to be sharing this thank you 💓
Great video! I grew up seeing my older sisters' Vanidades magazine that always had the pictures of the runway and famous people. Yes, I can still remember Dali on the French Riviera. So for me Jacqueline Onassis, Martha Stewart are examples of styles I like. My friends know my style whether it's jeans and a simple top, or a silk dress with a glam clutch bag. Classic, preppy, easy.
My mom and I always said “that looks like you” to each other and I never really thought about the meaning behind that. So interesting to actually think about!
I loved this video! Your voice is so calming! Great tips. I love Jennifer Aniston's style. I would describe it as classic, preppy, casual and that's what I'm aiming for. 😎
I really enjoy your vlogs, do you know if there is any other clothing lines similar to Lily that is more reasonable. In Australia it works out very expensive.
Hi can you tell me weather you do 3 words what you want to dress like or what youve been dressing like as im a typical tomboy thats how i guess i dress but i want to change to dresses and skirts as i want people to see me as casual and warm and feminine .
i couldn't identify w the examples but I do admire Martha's style. Well-made, classic. I do love colour though BTW, the patterned blouse you wore in part of the video is gorgeous.
@@shoppingonchampagne WOW. That's really awesome!! I love your channel. I've watched all of them from the beginning. Thank you for replying to me. I appreciate it.

Mine are confident, fun, versatile! I’m 74 and just realized my style! I’ve always worn those words. Great video, Nancy.
I love your words, Elizabeth! Just like Dorothy in the Wizard of Oz, the answer has been in you the entire time! 😍
Yep! Nancy, Dorothy and Beth knew it all the time! 🤷♀️

Nope, on thinking about this my style is comfortable, novel (as in novelty print), and hand made (by me). Boy did this help my closet edit.

Fabulous video - really enjoyed your analysis of the different icons - my style words are classic, minimal, monochromatic and chic!

Ok! Adding more celeb styles to my video to-do list! 🥰
Classic, Preppy & casual
Excellent choices, Buffy! 🥰
Mine has always been Katherine Hepburn and Jackie O. I do like a slight boho accessories. Soft, taylored, and classic.

Your the first stylist who I can relate to. Voice, personality and smarts

Very interesting video. It helps to see examples. Thank you.

Classic, chic and sophisticated I think 😉
Casual, classic, bright
Perfect, Sandra! 😍
Great video. A little different. I would say I am colorful, casual and changeable!
Hi Kim, Great style words. I especially love Changeable! 💕
Hi, I really enjoyed this video and approach, especially being in my 50s this was great. 🥰💕

Pulled together, classic, modern and western are my style words from your printout. 😁
Oh, love the combo of classic, modern, and the twist of western, Teresa! 😍
My mom and I always said “that looks like you” to each other and I never really thought about the meaning behind that. So interesting to actually think about!
This was a neat video. I have the words in my phone. So when I get in my closet tomorrow. I’m going to look and come up with my three words.
Sounds great, Pam! Let me know your words when you choose them! 💕
For myself I would day Casual, Classic, and probably Simple or Relaxed. I'd like to say stylish but too but in a more casual way.
I loved this video! Your voice is so calming!
Great tips. I love Jennifer Aniston's style. I would describe it as classic, preppy, casual and that's what I'm aiming for. 😎
I say Martha is elegant, simple and casual
I really enjoy your vlogs, do you know if there is any other clothing lines similar to Lily that is more reasonable. In Australia it works out very expensive.

What are the style words for who you want to be?
It's just clothes. No biggie to me. Must be my age.
IDK your age, but I'm an older woman (70) and liked this. I'm not being sarcastic - just curious why you watched this video.
I do not like any of the examples. I know a few of them years ago. So no need to follow their examples.
