I want to do a video specifically on wedding video teasers and why I'm drawn to a "hype" style of teaser film. I'm not sure if I'll do a live video talking about this and breaking down the edit or if I'll do a more scripted walkthrough but I first wanted to share the style of teaser I want to talk about.
This was the most recent film breakdown that went live last week so it seemed fitting to share the teaser film from that same wedding. Plus I think it is our best wedding video trailer You'll see plenty of the same shots but the trailer serves a completely different purpose and feels very different from the full film.
Enjoy and keep your eyes peeled for a video going over the art of the teaser film!
Many more tips for wedding filmmakers to come! See you all in the next video!

Would you guys rather see a pre made video about hype trailers, why I think they are important, and breaking down this edit OR would you rather me do a live stream of the same thing. I'm leaning live stream as it would let me field questions from you all and have more of a discussion plus would let me dive into areas of the edit you're most interested in. Let me know!
Will you do bts?
Yup! Wondering how you all would like me to go about that? Let me know!
It would be nice!!!
@@WeddingFilmSchool I'd be down for seeing a bts of your shoots as well. I used to binge and replay Kraig's bts stuff all. the. time and it's where I picked up most of my shooting and editing from. I'd also like to see a video or videos on how you shoot specific scenes (bride details, speeches, first looks, etc) and break down your thought process for each one.
Good to know! I'm trying to think of how best to do this. Honestly I think it would be best for the viewers to have someone follow me for a wedding but that sounds like such a hassle on what is usually an already stressful day haha. Thinking If it would be helpful enough to show a clip of a finished part of a video of one of those specific things and then I could talk through it and also show the raw footage where it helps to explain? Thoughts?
hi, can you provide the music link for me, i really like this music and teaser.. please
Buen trabajo me encantaria llegar a ese nivel
What the hell is this music. Feels like inception 2 trailer
this
Whenever I do the video on this I’ll talk about why it’s using music like this. There’s a reason. And ultimately while it may get mixed reviews from the wedding filmmaking community I’m here to push my boundaries creatively and give my clients something they love!
It is, we are on weddingfilmschool 4 owners deep
😂😂😂 Yah things won't be changing though this time!
Some Michael bay stuff
Love it! I'm definitely going to start leaning into a "hype" style edit for these one minute teasers as well. May I ask which artist this is from Musicbed?
Yah they are fun to make! Definitely don’t fit every wedding but they stand out! Ummm I can’t remember off the top of my head...and actually this was two songs I put together!
Freakin love this! Can we get a tutorial about how to do 0:16?! That double exposure wizardry lol
Heck yah! I will make sure to go over it!
Loved the edit
Thanks!
what focal length u were using at 0:44
That was the 16-35 on a gimbal. Probably at 20 or 24mm
On point 🙌🏼
Thanks dude!
I was waiting for someone to get SHOT! Great visual edit (but a bit fast and choppy) but horrible choice of music-noise...save it for The Bourne Identity Trailer.
Haha I mean that’s your opinion and you’re entitled to it! Myself and my clients love it and that’s all that matters!
Dang - how long did it take you to put together this teaser?
This was probably a solid day of editing but I had been thinking through it for a couple days beforehand
Wow!! impressive!
Thank you! Cheers!
That edit is 🔥 but I'm not sure I would have gone with that music choice (although I can certainly see why you did). I'm good with either of your choices in doing either a scripted video or a livestream, but my personal preference is the scripted video as I find livestreams tend to wander sometimes and never follow a good path for my learning style. My only question is... 0:20...how did you do that!?!?! That push/zoom is freaking amazing!
It’s called a dolly zoom, you can achieve it by moving your camera forwards whilst zooming your lens outwards, or vice versa. Makes for a really cool parallax effect!
Yah music is always such a personal preference thing especially for a teaser like this. I’ve definitely gotten mixed opinions on it but that’s fine. All that matters to me is if me and my clients like it! That is definitely the downside to a live video. Less concise but more conversation possible. We’ll see. And yah that shot was a shot walking backwards down the aisle and then zoom in a bit in post
Good
Emotion goes in hole 😂😂😂
I know it's a little thing, but at 0:30 it would've been really easy to mask that exit sign since it's in the dark. Since the framing was off to the side it distracted me a bit. Otherwise cool edit!
Definitely true!
Roary-Abandon
Yah! That was one of them! couldn't think of the name off the top of my head
trailer? ok.. but the music really throws it off :( btw footages looks great!
Loved the footage but hated the music and pacing. Im not sure if this style of editing of for the couple or for the other filmmakers.
Wow I want to be your padawan 🤣
Haha thanks so much :)
Interesting choice of music... but I dig the edit!
Thanks yo!
Footages are good but sorry music is not, because it's like a war or sport motivation music.
I love the channel, but if people are coming here to learn, take heed of the emotion in this trailer. All trailers are not created equal, but emotions should rule in a trailer. There is a lack of emotion in this trailer. No one's going to watch it and feel touched. Always remember the timeless techniques. This would be a trailer a couple would watch 10 years from now and it would feel dated. It's technically fantastic and looks amazing, but the music and pace are not my style. In the end though, all that matters is the clients. If this is there a vibe then fantastic work!
I think the most important thing you said here is that it isn’t your style. It will turn some away and it will draw some in, and that’s ok. We all have our own style. BUT it stands out, and is a polar opposite of what their actual wedding film looks like which while that in itself is not exactly the purpose, those are two reasons I prefer doing trailers in this style. It also caters much more to the groom imo where traditionally wedding films cater much more to the bride. not always and all grooms love our work too but generally we are more often trying to appeal to brides.
And I’ll add that if this we’re the entirety of their deliverables as a client I would find it disappointing. But it isnt and that is also key. I broke down their complete wedding film on this channel too!
@@WeddingFilmSchool I hear you! We love you guys and love that you appreciate criticism . That's how we all grow!
Oh for sure! Always love a good chat to go deeper!
