Embark with Ty and Nathan on a reflective odyssey through the ebbs and flows of our art careers and the burgeoning community of our podcast. The artists peel back the layers of their journeys, from the leap into full-time artistry after two decades in another profession to Ty's lifelong commitment to creative expression, inspired by his family's artistic legacy. Together, they delve into the significance of mentorship, and the bond of friendship, and celebrate the milestones that have marked their paths in the unpredictable world of art.
Step inside the artists' studio where the canvas of conversation stretches from the pressures of preparing for solo exhibitions to the collaborative harmony of a joint museum show. The artists share the transformative experience of seeing their work in the tangible reality of gallery spaces and the exhilarating challenge of translating themes like the ever-shifting "Warm Impermanence" into a visual narrative. Listen as they reveal the nuanced dance of inspiration, from the tangible beats of a Nine Inch Nails album to the immaterial yet potent acknowledgment from peers that propels us forward.
Closing the episode with an encouraging brushstroke for emerging artists, the artists share hard-earned insights on navigating the art landscape-from the power of consistent creation to the joy of unexpected recognition. Whether discussing the anticipation of upcoming exhibitions or reflecting on the evolution of the podcast, our dialogue is imbued with the shared aspiration to inspire you to craft your own artistic journey. So, connect those headphones and prepare to explore the rich tapestry of creativity that awaits in our latest auditory gallery.

Great episode! Did not realize I could see you here in UA-cam. It's so amazing to understand your steps until the present time and even relate to some of your emotions or feelings because sometimes we are convinced we are the only ones, specially on matters of not making it in our art life.
Loved Nathan's description about how he felt on his first exhibition because I relate a lot to what he felt. When I started to paint in 2020 I decided to have a goal that was making one solo exhibition every year. That would push me to work really hard. Since then I did 3 and every time it happens when I look at my paintings hanging for everyone to see... man I tell you... it's really overwhelming and I feel so proud of myself. Of course that I did these events with "a little help from my friends" by lending me venue space.
As you talked about, the key is to work hard every single day because it's the only way we can move forward in our process. I love coming to the studio and stay here with my "studio directors" and since I have 4, they never come to an agreement! :). This is my safe place.
Also you talked about the boomerang effect and that's vey true. What we cast we get it back and I've worked so hard these 4 years but 2 weeks ago I got 2 likes from Jerry Saltz on 2 posts about 3 paintings! What about that guys? I almost had a heart attack! These little victories...
Ty, I sincerely hope I can one day do mentorship with you. It's on the top of my bucket list.
For now I wish you guys the best of the best and please keep on bringing these amazing conversations that ignite all artists lives with hope, determination and self trust. Thank you!!

Great listening to your interesting podcast. Myself, a 76 year old who has a passion to make art with my camera+Lightroom+Photoshop. Great advice; look at the work of other artists, put things out there and keep grinding! Best of luck to both of you!

Just found you guys. Cool podcast and now added to my list of good listens while working. And I can completely relate to the love/hate relationship with deadlines. Being free to create as you wish is great however having an actual deadline forces the mind and body to be in the "uncomfort" zone which is where some of the greatest growth occurs. Thanks

Funny how you say you exit your job to make art full time and leave it at that. How were you able to do that? A trust fund, marrying into money? 99% of us have to work a regular job. What's the secret your not saying?

We both have side hustles. I sell a good amount of art yearly now, I also mentor artists. At the time I left my full time job with a brand I helped start my wife's business also became successful enough for me to go full time.
