    Date avocado smoothie recipe:
    Makes 2 servings.
    INGREDIENTS:
    -2 cups almond milk
    -1 fuerte or hass avocado
    -12 dates, pitted
    -1-2 T honey
    -1 tsp vanilla
    -6-8 ice cubes, optional
    PROCESS:
-First make the almond milk. Cover 1 cup raw almonds with water, refrigerate and soak at least 4 hours or preferably overnight.
-Drain and rinse almonds, then add almonds along with 2 cups of filtered water into a blender. Start at low speed, then gradually increase to high. Turn blender off, add 2 more cups of water, blend for a couple more seconds until combined. Yields 4 cups of almond milk.
-Place 2 cups of almond milk, avocado, and pitted dates into blender. It's good to start with the almond milk because it makes blending a little easier.
-blend ingredients, taste, on their own
-Then add honey and vanilla to your liking.
-If you prefer your smoothies cold, add ice cubes as well, then blend until smooth and creamy.

Even though this may not be the most visually appealing drink, it is soooo delicious! I just made it tonight, without almond milk...because I don't like almond milk, and it was absolute perfection! Thanks for the recipe Tastemade!

I'm an Arab! This is so cool haha but I make it simply using honey (or sugar) milk and avocado, it results in a beautiful green and the avocado taste is amazing!
Your videos are so much fun to watch, keep up the good work!

This is probably one of the healthiest ones I've seen. No added table sugar. I would probably omit the honey all together or add very little coconut syrup. Healthy and I'm sure delicious drink. I'll give it a try. :)

Very sweet and strong "dry" flavour to a mildly sweet and having a clinching of the mouth feeling ( like eating unripe Bananas). the dates them selves vary on actual dryness from very moist (California Dates) to very dry (Thoory). The ones he's using are fermented till very sweet and squeezed and put into a airtight container (they last for years). to really know how they taste just go and try them for your self. I am saudi and dates are a staple in our diets.

I live in Kuwait, and am therefore, surrounded by all things date related. There are many different flavor profiles for dates and you have to experiment to find the ones you like for eating and cooking which may not the same type. The taste ranges from being crisp, lightly sweet, almost apple like, to creamy/fudgy ( almost chocolatey) to the deepest darkest, treacly caramel you've ever had. And the uses are infinite: sweets, savory, sauces, jams, syrups, and even date wine!

Ah just tried this! It is delicious, quick thick though because I didn't make enough almond milk. Next time, I might just skip the honey, the dates add enough sweetness for me personally. :D Thanks so much for the idea!

That's interesting considering California invented the date shake and dates are native to Morocco. Nice to see a kind of trade thing going on between the two places. I could totally see this drink being used with all California ingredients too.

yeaah! I was so looking forward to this, and it doesn't disappoint. But the avocado shakes in Kuwait aren't nearly so healthy, and I have a suspicion that this drink was given a health upgrade! In Kuwait they make it with avocados, white sugar, and plain ol' cow juice! If you are in dessert mode, they'll add some vanilla ice cream to the mix or drizzle some flavored syrup. Delicious in every way!

I think you could use a skim milk as a substitute, although I don't know if the almond flavor is crucial. I think you could try an artificial almond flavoring, but I wouldn't chance it because I don't know if that has nuts in it as well. Not getting the flavor right can be frustrating, but anaphylaxis sucks too.

Soaking them softens them for the blending process, but it sounds like you could use plain almond milk from a carton and get something close.
