RaOne imo deserves a REBOOT and not a SEQUEL. The sensibilities of audience have evolved a lot over the time. The need of unnecesary commercial elements is no more. They can put the whole concentration into the concept with a visionary director and even sm new characters
As a kid, I was so overhyped for this movie and at that time I WAS BEYOND HAPPY to see Ra.One . After watching it in theatre once, I continously rewatched it on TV.
Pretty nostalgic for me but yess if I think of it as of now, yes the jokes do feel cringy although the movie gave a subtle Marvel-like vibe similar to when Tony cracks jokes sometimes in between battle and G.One did the same.
Also, I believe the oversimplification at that time was the right thing to do. However we saw that in Brahmastra, they did it again which totally did not work out resulting in people judging its dialogues.
I think the innocence G.One was given was kind of right cause he was a game character and did not know much about the real world or emotions. So like when Prateek asked “kya kar rahe ho”, he replies” Bohot Pit raha hu” shows that he is kind of an A.I. that simply gives answers.
At last, the most touching line from this movie that has stayed with me till date,”Burai sang jo mel rachaya fir kabhi na choothe uska saaya”❤

The mind of a director should be crystal clear in every shot. Example: in an interview I saw there were 17 takes taken for a step in natu natu song and eventually the 2nd take was the final one. The director could have easily approved the 2nd take but he wanted to see even minute perfection in a very fast pace song which audiences won't even observe unless we look at it at maybe 0.1x speed. That's the conviction of the director. This is what separates normal directors from legends. Look at Christopher nolan. He makes a movie which has huge takeaways, it could be leaving the audience in a confused state when he made inception or it could just make the audience awe in theatres in the movie interstellar. That's conviction and I think Rajamouli sir will definitely take indian cinema on par with world cinema. Its just not enough to have huge names and budget, the director should know how to utilize them too

U could say anything but the story and the plot sucks but the vfx is superior even for todays standars....And im just waiting to experience krrish 4 with red chilli new art vfx direction

You nailed the issue on head at 8:17... Tonal Inconsistency. And 12 years later we are still plagued by this issue. You referred to a great example - Police Story 1 was very serious in tone, so when JC made Police Story 2, he made it lighter, but there isn't one scene in the movie where the comedy is pushed in your face, the light hearted movements were organic, there is no shift in tone.

What a great breakdown. We need more of these. Personally I really liked the movie. It was so out of the box. I was getting introduced to the UTV action movies then I saw raone. I really liked the movie. Didn't see anything like that before. I have watched the movie here and there for about 10-15 times till date.
Rajmoulli is one of those few directors in India who works with full conviction. I mean not just Naatu, but for the intro bridge sequence, ( where Ram and Bheem meet) he imported actual scale models of train sets which were built from scratch, only to be visible for hardly few seconds. I mean, if this were some other director, they would have done vfx on it which would in turn look fake, but bringing the scale models and blasting them actually gave a bigger impact. Rajmoulli is a master in visual storytelling and keeps on building knowledge on what and how to use vfx, camera, shots etc

There are so many directors who do that , not just rajamauli ( in india ) , but they generally are not in the limelight
The sheer conviction Rajamouli has sets him apart. I don’t see the clarity in any Filmmaker in India about his craft & audience. Bwood tho is filled with pretentious clowns who's mentally living in London and makes films in India with that mindset.
They say "know your audience" SRK did exactly that when he made this movie. You could clearly see how SRK fans were bursting firecrackers in the movie theatre during Pathaan. Truck full of fans from slums came to watch it. This explains why they had to even explain WLAN.

I didn't particularly liked Ra One but I appreciated the movie and what they were trying to do, but I absolutely loved Minnal Murali, loved the superhero concept of that movie.

The biggest flaws in Indian movies, as I think, are Forced comedy, songs (I mean the songs are good, but they just take away the realism of the movie) and spoon-feeding even some basic things about the story and also many filler scenes (and by many, I mean a lot)
The only movie I can think of 'now' without such flaws is the recent marathi movie "Vaalvi"

Just an feedback, you should make your thumbnails clickable. I instantly click on your video as i see it because i know you and trust that it will not waste my time but for people who don't know how good your content is will never get an chance because of non clickable thumbnail.
Example -" A well deserved oscar" is on rrr video it already say that okay you are going to appreciate them , it should be "do rrr even deserve an oscar ??" It generates an curiosity.

The dumbed down approach really hurt the film. it was full of typical bollywood elements when they could have explored the lore much more just like Ready Player One.

Picture isiliye nhi chali kyu ki ustime ye superhero movies ka koyi hype hi nhi thaa logo ko lgta thaa ke it was bachho wala movie , indian movie with that level of vfx during that time could definitely be considered wowww!
The story was unique !the names Ra One and G One have nothing bad in them not cringe at all , the game was developed by an Indian game developer n so were the names ! The movie showed villain more powerful and it was unique too… raone was one of first superhero movies I watched…
One must understand the target audience. Kids enjoyed this movie. I enjoyed it as a kid. All the points you are making are accurate once you reach certain level of maturity. But this movie was not for the mature ones

RaOne was a movie which targetted the youth mainly 10+ and above but was not made for them ......keys falling into cleavage of a woman,G-One's hand on Kareena's chest, then onto her hips,the ass slap,power yoga vulgar jokes,repeated main part jokes and kicking,kamasutra joke,chammak challo,the placement of piercings on G-One while airport check in,the booty slap criminal song,basically it wasn't made for the audience to which it was targeted to!!

The comedy element in Ra One did not hit me at all, I was not impressed or even smiling in the comedy sequence, I just went with it but I was supportive with the concept of the movie.

@@thunderhero2029 yes, compare the bgm of this with krrish which came 6 years before Ra One. The entry scene of hrithik, the place where he saves that little girl in circus, the superspeed fight with Dr. Arya's goons and the chase behind Arya's helicopter. The bgm gives absolute goosebumps. Ra One fails miserably in this one. I also missed to mention the screenplay. Krrish looks gorgeous while Ra One looks dull.

Amazing explanation
I found it challenging to connect with the main character of the kid, from his obnoxious personality to his horrible haircut. It was disappointing that even with the presence of a talented actor like SRK and impressive visual effects, the movie struggled to resonate with audience due to an unlikable main character.
