    I don't have a problem with getting rid of groundhogs and your video was very educational. I love how you didn't feel the need to show the execution! That's a real man! You taught a lesson without having to do the macho thing of showing the execution like others do. Again, I understand the need to get rid of these pests but sometimes it's unnecessary to show the actual execution.

      I dont show kill shots and if you watch my videos. I dont stand there and stress the animal by recording it longer than 30 seconds, typically. No since in it. I just want the viewer to get a sense on what they are walking up on and how it may react. Thank you for your comment!

    • @BNOOutdoors
      @BNOOutdoors  4 роки тому +3

      Yes, I do trap. But people fail to realize I do respect the animal. I love and enjoy wildlife. But when you farm or have livestock,etc. It is important to manage things. It is a way of life for me. Not for others who live in cities. But it is to me.

    This is great information. I thought the traps were painful but it is clear that the one you used was very humane. Thank you for sharing and explaining the process.

    I was wondering if you was going to set a trap off on yourself. You did. Made me jump a mile. See your point about pain and it hurting unless you played it off really good. The pan covering was something I wouldnt have thought of or the rope being to long for animal to go into hole. Also cool you caught it. Always fun to watch. Great catch and video

      gotta check the state laws for the size, NY nothing over 5x5 can be put on land, but the new 155 magnums are bad ass and are 5x5 no issue with a woodchuck getting caught in them, I like the conis for those holes.

    I use the Havahart live catch traps and I've never had to bait them, the woodchucks just walk right into the trap because it's in line with their path. Particularly if you find their path at the edge of the woods and a clearing. Live traps also give you options if you nab a cat, skunk, possom or something else you didn't want to take out. Thanks for the video, I hope you have them under control :)

    I have a large groundhog that digs underneath my fence, and he has ate a lot of my flowers. I have a live trap, but there are so many cats in the neighborhood they get caught and released. I am not against doing what you have to do to protect your property and gardens. I'll have to check the laws were I live. This groundhog has to go. 🦔❤💕

    When i was just a boy i lived on a 650 acre soybean farm and as young boys will do I liked to expkore the property .One day I saw a ground hog run back into his hole and I decided I wanted to catch one for a pet...So I built myself a box trap with 1/2 inch plywood and a refrigerator rack on top it was a foot pedal type trap .So i built that thing and carried it over to the spot and baited it and set itand went home and waited. Next morning I went back to check my trap...once i got to my trap i realized my mistake. I had caught a full grown ground hog and yhat ground hog had destroyed my box trap .it chewed through the refrigerator rack and busted the sides of the walls out..this trap was built well too but it didnt matter that ground hog destroyed it...

    Like he say's do not trap them so they can get back into there hole. If they get back into there hole they are really hard to pull them out again as they use all 4 feet against the entrance walls. They also can pull out of your trap when they have that much leverage. Always trap them outside of the den entrance, away from there ability to pull against the stake in there den holes. These animals are strong when they have leverage, and they definitely can pull out of foot traps. I've trapped them and they get in the hole to pull, and you have a 50/50 chance they'll get away...

    • @BNOOutdoors
      @BNOOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      Yep. If they get that in ground leverage it's pretty much over. People under estimate the strength. They dig their entire life.

    • @BNOOutdoors
      @BNOOutdoors  4 роки тому +1

      Yes! Exactly. They just use the wall as leverage. They are stromg.
