Just had a full face rejuvenation with PRF, PRP, Botox, and filler… TODAY. I’m definitely feeling the tenderness and observing some swelling. I go back for round 2 of just PRF for the hollows in about 6 weeks. I can’t wait to see the results once everything has settled. Thank you for such an in-depth explanation.
This is by far the most informative video I have seen on the topic of PRF and PRP. Thank you for taking the time to explain everything so clearly and thoroughly. I look forward to seeing more of your videos. 😊
Thank you for the info. I just got PRF but I was confused on how the practitioner made it. She drew my blood, spun it for 5 mins, then said that adding calcium (carbonate?) is what turns it into PRF. I've not seen this anywhere else. Is that how you make your PRF? Can explain the difference in how you prepare the PRP vs PRF? Thank you so much!
Hmm… PRF is typically created by drawing a patient’s blood and spinning it down in a centrifuge without the addition of any anticoagulants or other additives. This process results in a fibrin matrix that traps platelets and growth factors, which are then released slowly over time to promote healing and tissue regeneration. Calcium carbonate, on the other hand, is not typically used in the standard preparation of PRF. It is more commonly associated with the preparation of Platelet-Rich Plasma (PRP), where it can be used to activate the platelets by promoting the release of growth factors. However, this is not a standard practice for PRF, and the introduction of calcium carbonate could alter the natural fibrin matrix formation, possibly affecting the product’s efficacy.
@@drswatikannan Thanks so much! So the difference between PRP and PRF is the spin time and speed? Can you explain, please? Thanks again--I so appreciate your channel!

Thanks for giving an easy to understand explanation of these latest eye procedures.
Great video! Very informative. I did prp, but I think PRF would be even better for my under eye. Just not many options here where I live. They mainly do prp.
They only do PRP because there are no published clinical studies showing prf is better than PRP. Your provider is saving you money. You should thank them.
Hello Dr Kannan. Fantastic video explaining a treatment many people are making complex to understand. Can I ask you one question? If someone has EZ-GEL PRF for mild undereye hollows when can that person also have Polynucleotides or Sunekos or Tixel alongside as a complimentary treatment to upregulate collagen synthesis?
Do you use it after EZ gel or before? And what about people saying they don’t suggest Tixel or thermage with ez gel because radio frequency in the form of heat under the eyes as it creates fat loss you need the fat around the eyes, if you have hollows?
It won’t worsen it and can potentially help edema long term as prf causes collagen production and tightening. In the short term you can have more edema after treatment that can last longer than someone without malar edema but it goes away.
Hello Dr.Kannan Which would be a better option for under hollowness and tear trough. PRF or fat grafting. On term of better out come and costs effective. Thank you!
Hi! Fat grafting replaces fat, and PRF causes collagen stimulation but doesn't replace fat. What you need depends on the severity of your tear troughs and the reason for your troughs. Fat grafting also contains stem cells which causes collagen stimulation theoretically as well. Fat grafting under the eye though needs to be done very carefully to avoid any lumps but it's more long lasting than PRF. Not everyone needs fat grafting and if you don't need, but get it done, it can look puffy and swollen and it's hard to fix once done if it doesn't look good. So pros/cons to each.
I have deep hollows. I’m getting married in 3 months and I would like to go the natural route. I’m thinking of doing one round of prf soon and closer to my wedding date a round of ez gel. Do you think that will be possible?
Usually need 3 rounds of PRF and it takes a few months to see results. If your wedding is in 3 months, it may not be enough time. Hyaluronic acid filler will give you the results though right away but I would do that sooner instead of waiting closer to your wedding.
If I understand correctly, both PRF and EZ gel do not contain anything else than your own blood, spun and "separated" slightly differently? I have chronic Lyme disease and I cannot use any fillers nor additives, or preservatives. Could I get this type of treatment? Thank you
For your first question, that is correct. If you have an acute active infection, we usually don't recommend PRP or PRF. However, we don't have enough research on the pros/cons of PRP and PRF with chronic Lyme disease. So there isn't a strong recommendation one way or another. It would best to discuss with your physician prior to growth factor treatments.
Dr Kannan, If I have had 2 sessions of PRF EZ Gel for under eyes, you mentioned you incorporated Tixel too. Do you normally do Tixel first and then PRF Ez Gel or PRF EZ Gel first and then Tixel and how long should someone wait after PRF Ez Gel under eyes before they can incorporate Tixel for under eye wrinkles? BTW.... Your videos are the best and you seem to take complex subjects and make them easy to understand. You are amazing!
Thank you. I sometimes will do tixel if patients also have skin laxity. I will do it at the same time as PRF as the combo works synergistically in my experience. Thank you for watching!
I have skin laxity under my eyes as well as a lot of swelling three years since I was injected with Botox. This made my orbicularis weak and not able to pump my under eye fluid so it expanded my under eye skin and now the skin is lax. Do you think PRF can help tighten it at least a little ?
It can tighten a little bit but PRF helps to build collagen and under eye skin laxity is due to multiple causes. Sometimes you need to mix PRF with other eye tightening modalities or need surgery.
I am open to this it would also love to try this. However, can you clarify what you mean by “tissue renewal”? Because, in my case, the main thing that I’ve lost that I would want to resort is fat (from my cheeks and under eye area) is it able to regenerate fat in that area?
Hey great question. PRF helps with collagen generation but we don't have evidence to see if it helps with fat. The best way to restore fat is to do a fat transfer.
Hi there, thanks for a great video! What’s the difference in longterm effectiveness and quality of results on undereye hollowness when comparing PRF to EZ gel?
Hi, PRF and EZ gel are pretty much the same as discussed in this video. While it hasn't been studied in a head-to-head study, there shouldn't be a difference between the two for under eyes.
It doesn't dissolve per se, since this helps with collagen production. But you do continue losing collagen, so maintenance treatments to build more collagen are required.
Hi it doesn't contain hyaluronic acid but can be mixed with hyaluronic acid filler if needed. I usually like to do PRF first if patient is a good candidate for it.
Dr Kannan -- I'm thinking of having this but wondering If someone had just one session of EzGel PRF and they didn't like it, for whatever reasons, how long would they have to wait before it's fully absorbed so they can try something else like injecting the undereye with Sunekos?
Well it's collagen growth so your body breaks down collagen which happens at different rates. So the effect goes away anywhere from 6 months to 2 years.
Hi, doctor, can ez gel cause a vascular occlusion? I read that the particles of the albumin that could theoretically could cause a vo shrink in the bloodstream so that they are not harmful eventually. What is your opinion?
Albumin is a natural protein that circulates in the bloodstream so I’m not sure about vascular occlusions caused by protein. Easy gel can cause vascular occlusion as it’s a gel but it’s much less than hyaluronic acid fillers.
@@drswatikannan Thanks for your response. I'm a bit confused by your answer because on the one hand you say albumin is not really dangerous, but on the other hand you say there is a vo risk because of the gel like consistency, but as far as I know the albumin makes the gel consistency. I guess it's difficult to answer, because everything that is not watery or has particles can cause a vo.
Love this video! So informative! What RPM and number of minutes do you set your centrifuge at to be the most effective in your practice? I have seen varying numbers through my research.
Hello! I've had under eye bags for years. They are getting worse with age, no sleep, and allergies. I've had under eye filler and loved it. After I had a baby I began to nit pick myself and wanted a little bit in just one spot. SO I went to a different dr and he overfilled my eyes making them look worse. Almost a year later I had them dissolved (which was very scary bc of all the horror stories I've heard). I got sick afterwards and did not feel well. I hope I don't have any more problems doen the road. My eyes look like they did b4 now. Big bags. I found only 1 place in my area that offers prf microneedling and prf ezgel. Do you think they will help with under eye bags or which would be better? They also mentioned a method similar to morpheus I think they called it VRF skin reserfusing. I just didn't like that it had a longer downtime. So I'm not sure if I would do that now. What do you think is best for under eye bags besides surgery? Also I always get my chin filled and love it bc when I used to close my mouth it would wrinkle from the tension. BUT the last time I had it done thr lady did it very uneven. I was wondering if I could use exgel to even it out a bit instead of tiller. I was told to use filler dissolver and redue it, but I never want to get fillet dissolver again. Sorry for the long story. I just really don't know what to do. I was even thinking of just using a small microneedling treatments at home, led lights or microcurrent. Just not sure what to do now bc the last 3 treatments really scared me. I stopped going to my usual place bc they are really far and I moved. Thanks for the video!
Hey, PRF doesn't help too much as chin filler. I would dissolve it if it's uneven or go to someone else who's an expert (like board-certified derm or plastic surgeon who does cosmetics). PRF can help camouflage under eye bags but it depends on the severity of the undereye bags. As you stated, surgery is the best and long lasting treatment for under eye bags. Hope that helps.
Hi Dr. Kannan, I have since had one injection of EZ-gel since my last question to you. Because I have bags, she injected my cheeks to sort of fill them to the point that they pulled down on the lower lid and relieved some of the crepey skin under the eye and also smoothed the bags a bit. She had a little left over and also did my lips. Now, 10 days later, it seems most of it was just swelling, as the bags are back and my cheeks and lips are just barely filled. I'm a bit worried that it will keep deflating although I am glad I am not as swollen as I was the first 3 days. Thing is, she said to come back in 3 months as it should last at least that long. I noticed that you say even EZ-gel should be done 3 times, once each month, and you also said there is no down time as it's a filler. Why did I look so swollen then? Even my lips looked ridiculous the first day. I do feel the lips and cheeks are fuller but just wondering if I should have done PRF for my eyes and would you have injected it into my tear troughs even if I have some bags with a bit of hollowness or do you agree with doing the cheeks only? I really appreciate your reply as I want to make another appointment but be more specific with what I want.
You can get swelling after injection and for few patients, there could be swelling that can last a while. In my experience, it takes more than one treatment for long-term collagen production.
You mentioned prf typically requires 3 sessions. Does that also apply to ez gel? I would think because of the price difference, ezgel would be less sessions?
@@drswatikannan thank you for reply and great work you are doing. you meant it doesn't require approval because it is the persons own blood? right! thanks
I have dimples that are pretty high up on the cheek-they’re pretty cute and unique and im Scheduled to do ez gel But im nervous the Ez gel would effect my dimples. Do you know if it could?
Hi doc, I enjoy watching your videos! Can you please tell us more about EZGEL in the face in a new video? What can you change in the face with it? Can it be used in the forehead? Can it be used to raise the nose bridge and lift the nose tip? How many sessions are needed to get the result that stays for a while ? Would like more information if possible.. A before and after video would be even better … And why EMFACE is not a good treatment for visible results?
Hi it can be used in forehead. It wouldn't work in the nose. Usually need 3 treatments and results are subtle. I haven't used Emface but like all tightening devices, results are variable.
It is ok to follow up bio the bio filler after 2 weeks and inject again? cause my 1st treatment doesn't go away mu eyebags. Then looks puffy. I have dissolved my eyes with hyalase then my tear trough is more hollow then that's why my doctor who dissolved me suggested PRP. And she said it takes 1 session only.
Do you need several treatments of PRF before you see a difference? I don't see any after 1 PRF on face (after 3 months) and I'm not sure whether to continue? Thanks
Yes I mention this in the video I think. Usually need several treatments before seeing a difference. And again patient selection is very important. If someone needs a lot of filler or volume replacement, PRF alone is too subtle.
@@drswatikannan thank you :-) yes I'm going to give it a few more tries. I had PRP one month, the next PRF and genuinely didn't see any difference (both were in the eye area) I'll report back after my next one soon if there's any change, even slight I'd be happy to see..
I just had PRP under my eyes last month and I'm going for a 2nd PRP in March and maybe a 3rd in April, but after listening to your video I hope the money I'm spending is worth it. I know it's not a filler, but I just thought my under eyes would benefit by getting thicker, healthier skin with more elasticity under my eyes Etc, I am 59 and I have the circles under my eye causing hollows. My skin is great looking for 59 everywhere else just that eye area bothers me. I didn't want to have a regular filler at my age because I've been reading a lot. That fillers aren't so great for people over 50. So I thought this more natural approach would be better. My Doctor doesn't do PRF as of yet, just the PRP....will I notice a difference with PRP?
I think it's something you should discuss with the person doing your PRP. Everyone is different in terms of responses- some respond better than others. I do PRF for the under eyes but know several doctors who do PRP.
I do notice even after the first treatment, I am so much happier how my makeup looks (no bags under the eyes), so maybe the next two treatments I get will be what I needed for me...I feel way more confident because I'm not feeling paranoid that every one is staring at the puffs under my eyes😅. Thanks!
Hello! I have extremely dark circle under my eyes. My doc has done 3 session of carbon laser and chemical peel till now but i do not see any improvement. Now, she is going to do 3 session of PRP and microneedling after every 15 days. Do you think this will be helpful for my dark circles, i have mild hollowness and fine lines as well. I am concerned as i have my wedding in 2 month.
@@drswatikannan I know a couple PRF people and obviously lots of PRP BUT no one does EZ gel around here :(((. I want that so bad cause I do not want HA filler cause of occlusion and migration :(
Do you see patients?? I got a lower blethorplasty but still have creepy skin Under my eyes mainly found as festoons as well as the hollow are still there
Will this really work for deep set dark circle eyes ? I got my fillers but within a month I see my eyes are back to normal . I wonder even these treatments are same ?
Ez gel and PRF aren't technically fillers like HA fillers. They cause collagen stimulation whereas HA fillers add volume. PRF volumization is subtle and some people do need more maintenance treatments.
I mainly use ez gel for thicker skin like the face and PRF for under eyes. EZ gel for under eyes can be used as well but it's more time consuming to make solely for under eyes. The results would be similar between the two for under eyes. For face, EZ gel is better.

Hmm…
PRF is typically created by drawing a patient’s blood and spinning it down in a centrifuge without the addition of any anticoagulants or other additives. This process results in a fibrin matrix that traps platelets and growth factors, which are then released slowly over time to promote healing and tissue regeneration.
Calcium carbonate, on the other hand, is not typically used in the standard preparation of PRF.
For most also need 3 sessions for Ez Gel.
Excuse me doctor: any of these products or equipment's FDA cleared, approved? or CE cleared approved? thanks.
Usually autologous treatments are not FDA approved except for fat transfer.
@@drswatikannan thank you for reply and great work you are doing. you meant it doesn't require approval because it is the persons own blood? right! thanks
I have dimples that are pretty high up on the cheek-they’re pretty cute and unique and im
Scheduled to do ez gel
But im nervous the Ez gel would effect my dimples. Do you know if it could?
Should be fine!
Should I do PRF before Tixel? Or Tixel before PRF for the undereyes?
Or should I alternate them?
I usually do both together at the same appt
I see… and do you do one before the other during that appointment? Or does the order not matter?
@@jacquelinehernandez4832 If I do both in one visit, I will do tixel first and then PRF.
Any suggestion for deep set eyes ?!
It depends on the anatomy but usually we can open the eyes with botox, and also provide some volume to the under eyes with PRF
Hi doc, I enjoy watching your videos!
Can you please tell us more about
EZGEL in the face in a new video?
What can you change in the face with it?
Can it be used in the forehead?
Can it be used to raise the nose bridge and lift the nose tip?
How many sessions are needed to get the result that stays for a while ?
Would like more information if possible..
A before and after video would be even better …
And why EMFACE is not a good treatment for visible results?
Hi it can be used in forehead. It wouldn't work in the nose. Usually need 3 treatments and results are subtle. I haven't used Emface but like all tightening devices, results are variable.
It is ok to follow up bio the bio filler after 2 weeks and inject again? cause my 1st treatment doesn't go away mu eyebags. Then looks puffy. I have dissolved my eyes with hyalase then my tear trough is more hollow then that's why my doctor who dissolved me suggested PRP. And she said it takes 1 session only.
It usually takes several sessions of prf to helo
How many sessions would one need? Thank you!!
About 3.
@@drswatikannan new subscriber - I like your content.
@@TheMijas07 I googled it and says results can take 6 months to show
@@sherriscorner2015 thank you. Have you tried it?
Thanks!
Prf is more beneficial than PRP..@@KatKatz11
Does EZ Gel help with eye bags? Or would it make them worse?
It helps to build collagen to help that area look less prominent
Hi how to you dissolve a lump under the eye after ez gel? No filler just the plasma was used.. it’s been almost a week and I have a movable lump
It should go away after a month
Usually goes away after a few weeks.
Great info
Thanks for watching!
I am concerned as i have my wedding in 2 month.
hey it depends on the cause of your dark circles. PRP and MN might help but PRP isn't as good as PRF for volumization if that's the cause
I wish you near me in NYC. Do you have any recommendations in the NYC area that do EZ gel?
Hi I am sorry I personally dont know anyone in NYC who does PRF but I am sure several derms do so you can probably call and ask?
@@drswatikannan I know a couple PRF people and obviously lots of PRP BUT no one does EZ gel around here :(((.
I want that so bad cause I do not want HA filler cause of occlusion and migration :(
Do you see patients?? I got a lower blethorplasty but still have creepy skin Under my eyes mainly found as festoons as well as the hollow are still there
Yes I do see patients. I am in CA.
How we will heat it?
Does prf helps for genetic under eye hollowness ? How much srssion are needed ? Please reply
Yes it does. Usually 3 sessions are needed.
Thank you for the reply
If my area only offers PRP for under eye tear trough is it better to drive 2 hours for a place that will do PRF instead? Wondering if it is worth it!
I do prefer PRF over PRP but 2 hours is a long drive...
Will this really work for deep set dark circle eyes ? I got my fillers but within a month I see my eyes are back to normal . I wonder even these treatments are same ?
PRF is helpful for hollows. But if your under eye circles are from pigment, then PRF might help to camouflage but doesn't get rid of the dark color.
I heard the volume from PRF and EZ gel goes away in about 6 months, way less than HA fillers. is this true ? :(
Ez gel and PRF aren't technically fillers like HA fillers. They cause collagen stimulation whereas HA fillers add volume. PRF volumization is subtle and some people do need more maintenance treatments.
Hi can you get this in the UK?
Possibly.
Yes I would love to try it
Is there any risk of occlusion with the ez gel? Is it deeper or more superficial?
It is less risky than other types of fillers. And we inject at various depths depending on what correction we need.
Can you get this in the UK?
I’m not sure but probably
? Can PRF and PRP be combined in the same syringe?
Yes if needed.
Is there a way to reduce the fat under the eyes?
Cannot reduce the fat directly without surgery.
I’ve heard Agnes RF is a great treatment 👌🏼
How long does the PRF EZ GEL last as filler volume under the eyes?
Depends on the person; most people need maintenance once every 6-18 months
I’ve had PRF done under the eyes but not EZ GEL PRF but good to know that volume last a bit.
What’s your opinion on collagen supplementation by consuming bone broth?
I don’t promote it
Great video! Does PRF also help in correcting hollowness (dent) under the eye that was caused by too much hylauronadise used to dissolve filler?
Yes it can help to fill the hollows but not like a HA filler. I like PRF better because it also strengths the eyelid skin.
in US or Europe is EZ Gel for Tear Trough more expensive procedure than regular Fillers or opposite is true?
It depends. I dont know about Europe. PRF is a series of treatments so the total cost can be more expensive than hyaluronic acid fillers.
can someone get a vascular occulsion from EZ-Gel
It’s harder to do than normal filler but yes it’s possible
Doesn’t EZ gel combine PRP with a bio stimulatory substance so it’s not natural as such - it’s not just your own platelets but also other substances?
No ez gel by itself is just from your blood. It can be combined with Sculptra or Radiesse but doesn’t have to be.
I have a video on biostimulatory fillers which may be helpful ua-cam.com/video/6M46rZRPi0A/v-deo.htmlsi=jCJhTy_Jx0My3W25
Is ez gel the same as bio-filler?
Ez Gel is a biostimulatory filler which means it stimulates your own collagen.
Where is ur clinic
California
Is jojoba oil good for skin
it can be anti inflammatory and good for skin
How much each session
Depends on volume needed and where we are injecting.
But does the PRF only rejuvinate wrinkles under the eyes?
Help with hollows mainly.
Is there a risk with necrosis with this?
If it gets into a blood vessels, then like any filler, there can be necrosis. I also inject using a cannula, which is less risk.
What would be the difference in results apart from the ez gel instant results.
Say after 4 months would Prf have the same results than the ez gel prf?
I mainly use ez gel for thicker skin like the face and PRF for under eyes. EZ gel for under eyes can be used as well but it's more time consuming to make solely for under eyes. The results would be similar between the two for under eyes. For face, EZ gel is better.
@@drswatikannan Thank you for replying doctor 😊
Does PRF also helps with fat pockets / hollowness ?
@@milariestoro5890 Yes it can help with hollowness to camouflage the displaced fat pads but to remove the fat pads is surgery.
@@drswatikannan I’m trying to find an alternative to surgery 😊
I was told Morpheus 8, might help?
Where are you in California?
San Diego
Are u in NYC?
I’m in California
Great video!

What are your thoughts of those that are using PRP as a filler?
I don't think PRP is as effective as it doesn't last in the area for more than a few hours.
Is there anyone who explain what is EZ gel
Isn’t it supposed to be spinned slowly?
Spin rate depends on the centrifuge machine. In general PRF is spun slower than PRP.
