In this installment of The Probe Interviews, we have with us Adv. Apar Gupta.
For over a decade, Adv. Gupta has tirelessly dedicated himself to advancing and protecting the digital rights of all Indians. He holds an LL.M. degree from Columbia Law School and an LL.B. (Hons) degree from Amity Law School. A lawyer and an entrepreneur; he specialises in the intersection of technology and democratic rights.
Adv. Gupta worked at IFF for roughly six years, leading and supporting various initiatives to promote digital freedom and safeguard fundamental rights, such as strategic litigation, policy and legislative engagements, civic literacy, and online campaigns. Some of his notable achievements include appearing in constitutional challenges to website blocking, facial recognition technologies, surveillance reforms, and malware, drafting the Indian Privacy Code Bill, and running the SaveTheInternet.in movement for net neutrality. In April 2023, he transitioned from the Executive Director role to the Founder Director role, with a focus on governance and oversight responsibilities, serving in this position till November 10, 2023.
