      Can you read ? It literally says "narrated by Bryan Godwin"

    Does he mean to say mangrove trees instead of mango?

    In a bucket that they dumped over the side, get with the times...

    Why do they spoil the chapter by telling you what's going to happen at the beginning?

    • @jaustill237
      @jaustill237 4 місяці тому

      That was the format of the time. It's supposed to make the book look more like a memoir of a real expedition, as then the book can be used for academic reference. A reader could go back to the point they remembered by looking at the chapter titles in order to reference what happened.

    To Bryan Godwin I offer sincere thanks for volunteering to narrate this, one of Jules Verne's more enjoyable stories. I hope you will continue to read more. However, before you narrate any more PLEASE take the time to look up the correct pronunciations in a good American-English dictionary. (If you normally spoke British-English then I'd say '...a good British-English dictionary', but your accent is obviously American.) I'm sorry, but I have to point out that your narration here is filled with many, MANY mispronunciations. (Here are just a very few: reconnoiter, corps, etcetera, tanganyika, basin, deluge, quinine, barbarous...) Please reconnoiter a dictionary first. Aside from the mispronunciations, your narration I thought was excellent, and so I say please keep up the good work!

    This speed reading is very distracting

      it works if u have a copy of the book to read with. bc its a natural reading pace and the pauses are how the book is written

      I’m enjoying listening to this at x .75 speed. You can control the speed via the UA-cam settings

    "Reconnoiter" and other words are mispronounced.

      Sometimes, I enjoy this. I grew up reading a lot and learning words from books. Then, starting in college, my contemporaries would give me he'll for mispronounciation. Thankfully, the whole modern generation has no idea how to pronounce these words!

    You read too fast

      Oh poppycock, yes I'll admit he reads somewhat quickly, but besides that he reads just fine. Saying he reads to quickly is an overstatement.
