With the QY10 ONLY? I guess it's impossible to make this sound "modern" on any way. All in this machine yells "I'm from the 80s" haha... I also use(d) it only slightly along with my other gear just to add some small sounds. Meanwhile i'm not using it often any more, since i got enough other gear now. I used to use it to fill small gaps and holes, but now i mostly use it as a sequencer to drive my other Synths. But there are a few useful sounds on it, i often used some bellish sounds or pitched down the String sounds.... all with some external effects. Else it would sound "old".
That will work fine. I'm also thinking about getting a nts1 and i'd sequence it by the QY10 as well... In Pattern mode, you will have 3 Sequencer tracks you can use for external gear (plus a drum track, but didn't try out to use that as sequencer track). These 3 tracks are assigned to midi channels 5, 6, 7. (Drums: 8) Hit me up if you need help on programming, this machine can be confusing at the beginning^^
Good
