      Danke! 👍Bloss dass ich mir die Bedienung von dem QY10 nie merken kann. Der QY10 funktioniert nach 30 Jahren noch tadellos, bei den Volcas gehen manche Buttons nicht mehr.

    This is daytime cruisin musics! That is a powerful little box -- "8-track sequencer, 28-note polyphonic/30-voice tone generator, and 26-voice rhythm machine" and nearly 30 years old now.

      Who needs a Kordbot then. :) It is amazing for its size (and time). Some of the sounds are actually pretty nice, some so-so. Plus they are similar in size to the volcas.

      Dat Kordbot chord spread tho .... and the strum arp is nice too. Still ... hard controller to get. I waited 6 months for mine.

    I came here because I had your same idea, so I would like to ask some question (and if you want to answer thank you very much ❤)
    I want to control all my synths by using my qy70 as main brain. To make this possibile can I buy a Midi box (like the Doremidi thru-6 box), connecting the qy70's midi out to the midi in of the box and then the box's midi thru to the midi in of the synths? If the answer is yes, does this mean I would control (for example) the synth connected to the midi thru 1 by writing midi information on the track 1 (=channel 1) of the yamaha sequencer? ... the second synth (on the midi thru 2) by writing the track 2 (=channel 2) etc....?

    • @reneschmitz4845
      @reneschmitz4845  Рік тому

      I don't know for the QY70 but on the QY10 the channels are fixed to a particular "track". Yes, you can direct the information at the various synths, by setting different channels for each, that's what the channels are for. Also for the midi box, I used one that I built myself. You need several outs / throughs on the midi box, because the volcas only have an IN, so you can not chain. So technically all synths in the vid, see the same midi data, but respond to different channel. (Maybe that Doremidi is smarter then my box.)

    Fabulous sounds, I just bought one of these today for ($100 Aus) I think my one has a flat internal battery, is it that hard to replace one?

    • @reneschmitz4845

      I have a video where I take it apart. The battery on mine is still good so I haven't yet replaced it. If you know basic soldering, it
      is not that difficult to do.

    Bought a QY10 back in '92. TBE I never got to grips with it. This video is brilliant - I didn't understand 90% of its features. Goes to show you must RTFM to get the most out of your gear. I still have the QY10 but sadly its internal battery is dead. Not sure if it's worth getting it fixed. QY10 is only worth about £40 on ebay now.

    Can you show why you have creat a pettern on the yamaha qy10

    Can one make a whole "song" (i.e. play sequence 2 four times, then seq 4 ten times, etc.) in the Yamaha QY10 or does it only play 4 bars in total over and over again?

    • @reneschmitz4845
      @reneschmitz4845  10 місяців тому +1

      It's capable of sequencing patterns in song mode. I think the individual patterns can also be 8 bars long.

    How you send the midi to all the volcas?
    Is the information of the backing tracks of the patten playing the Volcas?
    For what are the 1-4 tracks?
    I can’t record any information in this first 4 tracks.

    • @reneschmitz4845
      @reneschmitz4845  3 роки тому +1

      I think the first 4 tracks only work in song mode.
      Here only the backing tracks were used.
      I use a midi through box (aka midi splitter) to feed the signal to the volcas here. The Volca Sample only is synced to one of the others.

  • @AZ-zf1eu
    @AZ-zf1eu 5 років тому +1

    I'm ignorant to midi and what exactly is happening here. Is the pattern here programmed on your volcas? And running it into the QY10 transposing it? Does the midi work as only as a sync?

    • @reneschmitz4845
      @reneschmitz4845  5 років тому +1

      The pattern is from the QY10, and each Volca receives its notes from the QY10. Only the Volca Sample is merely sync'd and is running its own sequence.

  • @AZ-zf1eu
    @AZ-zf1eu 5 років тому

    I picked up one of these and I'm aware that when you program in a part it will change what you played to fit into the key that the pattern is in until you change it. But say you have a sequence that doesn't fit into any key is there a way to program it anyway?

    • @reneschmitz4845
      @reneschmitz4845  5 років тому +1

      Well to use the reharmonization, you should program your patterns in C major. But nothing restricts you from using off key notes. But don't expect them to sound right when the key is changed. Besides of the patterns with the backing/accompaniment you have the four melodic tracks, which don't get reharmonized. Probably better to program that in there. (You can only use them in song mode I think)

  • @marcelfrehse
    @marcelfrehse 5 років тому +1

    one question: do you play a looped pattern on the QY10? you just press other key buttons and it changes the pitch? how is this possible? just play the pattern and press buttons?

    • @reneschmitz4845
      @reneschmitz4845  5 років тому +2

      Yes, the pattern is programmed in there, and I was changing the chords on the fly, basically entering the chord progression. The QY10 actually re-harmonizes depending the chord entered.
