Michael Aslanian I think it is about an American astronaut on a mission to space. He does a space walk. At some point things go sideways and he is lost to space. I freakin love Bowie. Everything he did was interesting. Now that you've done this one, I would suggest "Ashes to Ashes". It continues Maj. Tom's story, and I've always thought it was a bit autobiographical.

Great reaction! Fun fact: Our sun is a white star. Most people think it is yellow. That is just due to the earths atmosphere. If you were in space, it would look white. It would look very different that day. That’s why the moon is white, it’s just reflecting the suns white shine, without an atmosphere.

"Space Oddity" was of a piece with much of what was going on in contemporary science fiction of the time (the "New Wave", begun -- more or less -- by Michael Moorcock's editorship of New Worlds beginning in the early 1960s). Colin Greenland, in his THE ENTROPY EXHIBITION draws attention to these parallels, particularly to Bowie's song, even quoting a part of it as the quintessence of one of the major themes in the literature at that time. This is especially apparent in the work of such figures as J. G. Ballard (perhaps the most finely distilled of this sort of work in his canon is the later MEMORIES OF THE SPACE AGE, though a great deal of his work dealt with this theme and its various implications), Barry Malzberg (whose novels, BEYOND APOLLO and THE FALLING ASTRONAUTS may be the quintessential handling of the topic), and even long-time science fiction writers such as Brian W. Aldiss, whose short story "Man in His Time" used, as was quite frequently the case with the New Wave, varied techniques, including fractured narrative structures, to carry the message even more powerfully than what was actually said. This was all part of a very strong ferment in the field, producing some of the best science fiction of the latter twentieth century; things which often seriously questioned the "norm" of Golden Age (1939-1959) science fiction, which quite often compared our exploration of space to pioneering efforts in America's westward expansion -- not always favorably, but often very much so (as in a fair amount of the work of Robert A. Heinlein and Arthur C. Clarke). Bowie was both influence on and influenced by this "Second Revolution" in the field, and an integral part of its development.
Life on Mars, Ziggh Stardust, Fame! Stuck on " Heroes", Producer legend, Brian Eno ( Roxy music), Said: Let's Call Fripp ( Former King Crimson). Said he is a teacher now, but if you dare.,.! Will give it a try. He played and composed THE guitar parts!
