- Balkan refugee to travel vlogger: my Netherlands story. When people ask me how to become a travel vlogger I only have one answer: work hard. I started out as a balkan refugee in the Netherlands. My parents had to build up a whole new life and as a balkan refugee had nothing to begin with. I come from nothing but went from balkan refugee to travel vlogger. This is my answer to how to become a travel vlogger or accomplish any other dream you have.

Q Where are you from?
A I am born in former Yugoslavia. Mom is Serbian, Dad is Bosnian. During the '90's war we came to the Netherlands and I got Dutch nationality. Have been living in Amsterdam for over 5 years.
Q How can you afford to travel so much?

A Canon G7X Mark II and Final Cut Pro X
Q (Why) Are you vegetarian?
A I'm vegetarian but not strict. I don't eat any meat, fish, cooked/boiled or fried eggs. I gradually became a vegetarian over the course of 15 years because I disliked the taste of meat more and more. After doing a yoga teacher training in 2015 I also quit fish and the eggs. No matter my food preferences I have no issues with other people not being vegetarian. I don't judge others and kind of expect the same favor from others concerning my own food preferences. It makes for a more friendly world :-)
Q Why do you usually travel alone?
A Because my friends have jobs with limited holidays, kids and partners. Also I really like exploring on my own.

Wow Ivana very brave story, millions of Indians share the same story as your family, when pakistan was created million of Indians were rendered homeless and migrated to India during partition in 1947, and worst part is there was lots of bloodshed, feel really happy to hear you lost none of your dear ones during those traumatic years, more strength to you and your family, India really connects with you 😊😄

@@IvanaPerkovicOfficial yes, war sucks. But it not actually a 'war'. It was a needless and mindless splitting of a millennia old nation on the bullshit basis of religion. The cunning of the British got the better of us.
@@NilanjanSaha it's was their failsafe against USSR and in the end it worked out the way they wanted. Thats what makes me think Pakistan is not a fail state. It is state which was created to keep tension in this region so they could control it after leaving the place.

Your father story reminded me of my grandfather story.. He came from Pakistan along with his brother to India.. They started whole as whole family from Pakistan but only two of them reached to India.. He died just 4 years back.. Even though I was not present at the time of this crisis.. I have seen him and have some idea of how emotionalally disturbing it can be to someone... My grandfather worked very very hard to provide decent life to my father.. But he got emotionaly detach from everyone... He did not want to loose someone he loved again.. But he did everything for his family... During his last time he had troubles after recollecting gruesome memories... Sometime I feel how blessed are we that's what motivate me to work hard

Me and my parents also dont see eye to eye and how older i get how harder it gets. You are a huge inspiration and your videos always helped me a lot to step out of my comfortzone and travel and do what i love in life. Loads of huggs !! Talking of adolescence ...I had a rough rough rough phase too . I became a rebel . Now I watch my daughters grow and try not to make the same mistakes my parents made . In hind sight however the rebellious me had a lot of fun too . Loads of stories for my grandkids ( if ever 😁) .

Our stories are similar and I can totally relate. When I was 10 years old I became a refugee of sorts in England from South Africa. I'm lucky enough and blessed enough that I did not have to go through the citizenship process as I'm, by birth, half European, however I can totally relate with the difficulties and trauma of starting completely new in a strange place. Especially the culture shock was a hard one for me! You're absolutely right though....we owe everything to our parents and the difficult decision they made to flee their own home country just for us.
Hi Ivana, one day when I was a little kid, the priest at our Catholic church gave each child a card with a country written on it. He told us to pray for the people in that country because they are experiencing hard times through war, hunger etc. Guess what country I got? Yup, I got 'Bosnia'. I was around 5 at the time and every single day, with all my heart, I prayed for the people of Bosnia. I remember collecting my toys in a big bag and telling my mom that I wanted to send them to the kids there. I'm glad your family survived the war. I'd like to believe that somehow my prayers helped.

Ivana i felt very sad to hear about the hardships you'll faced as a Refugee due to Civil War that took place in 1900's & break up of Yugoslavia into tiny Socialist Republic's of Serbia,Bosnia,Kosova, .I can felt the hardships a Refugee faces due to Conflict's as seen in Middle East like Libya,Yemen,Iraq,Syria.People r dying of Hunger,Sickness & they r Jobless,Children loosing their Childhood day's & education.Atleast u were lucky to b in Netherlands where this lovely people helped you'll a lot.Feeling good to see u smiling & happy always. @TRAVEL VLOG IV Your story is really touching. Millions of people in the Punjab and West Bengal, though only 2nd or 3rd generation refugees, can feel what you went through. Especially the refugees from the present day Bangladesh into the present day West Bengal can never forget both the insult and the injury. Being forcibly uprooted and driven away from your generation-old home, being beaten, killed and raped just because you are of a different faith hurts, it really does hurt.
Suffering in past gives more spirit to fight future challenges...all things happen for good beginnings
