@@triiodide7762 Each to their own. The dissonance in the final makes it sound creepy to me; like some creepy clown playing an out of tune organ. This one's far more cheerful, which reflects a carnival better, in my opinion.
Because the Origins version came from a much earlier Sonic 3 prototype build than the one in this video. The Origins version of the prototype tracks are the earliest drafts of these tracks. They're not new remasters.
Personally, I wished they used this from start when I learned about this. This is 10 times more fitting for Carnival Night act and the whole story of 3 Marxio Brothers in Fleetway comics.
So, so much better than the one in the final version. Everyone made fun of this version in the PC release because of the bad default Windows MIDI plug-in. This is a banger.
Now THIS sounds more like a carnival. The final version isn’t too bad, but it sounds more like a creepy clown circus. Also, this makes the zone feel more alive compared to the final version.
I'm sure the reason why SEGA was really quiet about the whole music situation for 10 years was they were legit attempting to fix the legal issue via making a deal with Buxer and/or any of MJ's then other sound team members, but kept running into dead ends with them and decided its not worth continuing to peruse to legally keep using the songs after 10 years of trying. It's either resort to using the prototype songs and not have legal issues, or not having the Tax and Stealth port versions Sonic 3&K happen and future port releases of S3&K after origins at all.
Origins may have botched it, but so did MJ. I’m sorry but while I love a lot of the original OST, the lil Enter the Gladiator tune on repeat does not feel like it even fits with the rest of the game. This on the other hand is bright, energetic, you can almost smell the damn cotton candy. It feels like Sonic music and should have been used. It literally feels like this is in the same game as Angel Island and Flying Battery and Lava Reef. I adore this, I wish the stupid-ass version we got didn’t butcher its rep.
These are old 2D games, even a potato laptop from 15 years ago can run Origins. So you can easily mod Origins on the cheap to include these FAR SUPERIOR versions of the prototype music.
You know, these songs are notably Sonic 2-feeling, but surprisingly the zone music not cut don't sound like such as much, although that might simply be because of their already-present associated with Sonic 3.

They made a creepy music because of The Cylinder
Creepy? The final is a banger
@@triiodide7762 Each to their own. The dissonance in the final makes it sound creepy to me; like some creepy clown playing an out of tune organ. This one's far more cheerful, which reflects a carnival better, in my opinion.
Woah hey pal this is WAY to good for Carnival Night Zone
Perhaps... i treated you too harshly...
Wow, yeah this is much better.
when the prototype version is actually better then the micheal jackson version
yep
I wish the sonic origins version sounded as good as this
Because the Origins version came from a much earlier Sonic 3 prototype build than the one in this video.
This is a banger.
at least they could've used the prototype versions, and not the ones we have now in origins.
aka the song jun murdered the most
I like both versions, this do fit carnival night also act 2 sounds great too.
Lmao everyone here after they massacred the tracks in Origins😂
Now THIS sounds more like a carnival. The final version isn’t too bad, but it sounds more like a creepy clown circus. Also, this makes the zone feel more alive compared to the final version.
This song... I don't know. I'm so used to the Michael Jackson replacement that it's hard for me to stop loving it.
And yet, this song is growing on me for some reason.
Yeah. These tracks were made before Michael Jackson and his team were brought in to compose the soundtrack.
Amalaric GoTH Prototype music that was reused in the Sonic and Knuckles Collection for the pc.
Amalaric GoTH Sorry, just thought I'd throw that out there. 😛
Super fun track. The S3 music team was poppin off 🔥
Sadly not the origins team tho 😔
0:42 sounds like 3d blast intro music
Sonic 3 and 3D blast sound pretty much the same
THE PROTOTYPE MUSIC IS EVEN BETTER 💀
I'm sure the reason why SEGA was really quiet about the whole music situation for 10 years was they were legit attempting to fix the legal issue via making a deal with Buxer and/or any of MJ's then other sound team members, but kept running into dead ends with them and decided its not worth continuing to peruse to legally keep using the songs after 10 years of trying.
It's either resort to using the prototype songs and not have legal issues, or not having the Tax and Stealth port versions Sonic 3&K happen and future port releases of S3&K after origins at all.
Looks like I can add Jun Senoue to the list of people who have officially ruined this track. Congratulations!
Por Fin Encontré Este Temazo :D
Better than the one in the final game!
I think I might actually prefer this over the final Carnival Night in base Sonic 3.
I like this more then the released. Far better.
The fact this song actually slaps is the weirdest part
This is the best theme next to the final version! Kudos to whoever made the best theme ever!
I still want to know why they needed to "remix" the tracks for Origins when they already were completed perfectly in this prototype.
They probably took them from an Older Prototype that only Sega Japan has
This > the final version
CHANGE MY MIND
Thank you so much for making these! And sharing the MP3s, too!!
They should've kept this theme on the final version
Honestly amazing track. Way too sad this version didn't make it to Orgins.
Technically it did, but they used heavily edited farts instead of Genesis sounds
The 30th Anniversary of this prototype is today
November 3rd 2023
I love how 0:42 sounds! Gives me nostalgic feels.
0:25 is a huge banger fr 🗣 🔥💯
CNZ Prototype: Let's go to the carnival! It'll be fun !
CNZ Final: You are not a clown, you are the entire circus.
CNZ Proto: Carnival Night! Wahoo!
CNZ Final: Circus in the eyes of a kid scared of clowns
Man i love it when the song is something completely different
Ah yes, good to clean my body after listening to the SHITTY version of the new one, I wish I had a high end pc tbh
These are old 2D games, even a potato laptop from 15 years ago can run Origins. So you can easily mod Origins on the cheap to include these FAR SUPERIOR versions of the prototype music.
We all do 😔
"Today's the first day of summer, and here I am at the Lasaga Land Amusement Park and Water Park to pull off my evil schemes!"
This one sound better than the one of Origins. It's a shame.
I had surgery to remove my nostalgia glasses with them gone this song is actually pretty good
You know, these songs are notably Sonic 2-feeling, but surprisingly the zone music not cut don't sound like such as much, although that might simply be because of their already-present associated with Sonic 3.
I think Sonic 2 is a lot more simplistic than this. CNz2 and LBz2 are notably similar to Hidrocity 2 too.
Man i can't wait for all these themes to be redone, especially the unused Super Sonic one
I can't.... I just can't
